And bands who I have no quacking clue who they are: OMD
Cause you gotta start somewhere...
This band (Orchestral Maneuverers in the Dark, the short and long version are interchangeable more or less) were introduced to me about a year ago. They are an 80's synth pop band, 100%. That being said though, I've come to the conclusion they may be the best one that ever existed. It amazes me how much of their stuff you can listen to, and it sounds like it was made this year.
First and foremost, one of the best 80's songs ever, Enola Gay...
I saw them last year as well, and they put on a very fun show. Excited to see them again.
Thanks for posting this! Definitely enjoyed the video you posted and will be digging into their catalog.

One last post before bed, I feel bad for everyone on the east coast who fell asleep before the lineup dropped. Well except for Juggs, thats just funny. He's gonna wake up to quite the surprise before heading to work.

They better have lost a Sunday headliner to excuse the shiz RHCP slot. Although I am chalking that one up to just plain bad booking, but whatever. Phoenix is going to be headlining everything this year from the looks of things.

"In the darkness hundreds of glowsticks streaked the air like tracer shots in war. Giant inflatables bounced over dozens of light sabers pointed skyward. Stuffed animals impaled on sticks danced above the hot crowds, puppeted by someone just given ecstasy by a friend made seconds before."

Before everyone gets excited about Lou Reed, let's not forget his "music" that he made with Metallica.
There is a lot of quality on the line-up. I counted last night, and there is a total of 53 acts that I would be down for seeing. If I lived in CA, I would be so down for this, but the lack of a wow headliner for me makes me not feel the need to make a trip across the country.
And Phyllis, you should give Roni Size an honest listen. New Forms was my f*cking jam back in college.

Re: Phoenix headlining...after their album comes out people may look back and realize that they are of course a headliner. I think there is potential for very surprising sales number a la Mumford. Although instead of 600,000 albums, I'd say more like 250,000 for first week sales. Seems there is a lot of pent up demand for new music from them. Just like Kings of Leon, it could instantly catapult them from subs to lifetime HLers.
