Hello Inforooers. Since Groop Camping is closed, and the registration deadline is this week, i wanted to try and get a tally of all the Groops who are definitely going.
I am XanaXBlunt and i speak for Camp Porker. We hail from South Florida, Sarasota and West Palm. We are about 30 strong i believe. I know we will have a grill and a lot of sausages (hince Camp Porker) as well as other grillables to eat and share. We all like to get wild (for the most part) and are looking forward to being your long lost Drunk Uncle or Nephew, as age dictates.
We are still in the process of organzing all the shade/supplies we are going to bring. How are you organzing your groop/ your Groop site? What is thy name? What land hath borne you?
We are 54+ strong right now hailing from Canada (We have one American & a couple half-breeds)! I've got a huge excel sheet with everyone's contact info. We've got 5 shade tents, that I know of, so far. Everyone is doing their own food... for the most part. I survive off raw veggies, fruit, beef jerkey, and those tuna/cracker snack things. My GF makes me peanut butter sandwiches with banana in the morning - that's why I love her. We are hard drinkers and partiers. We are planning on playing a crap load of flip cup and are looking to take on you Americans! We're a friendly batch. Our flag is an orange Canadian flag with headphones on the maple leaf.
6th year for me but we have a lot of Rookies... sprinkled with other Vet-a-roos of various years.
Helping me in the organization is a Facebook I started about 3 years back that fellow music/Bonnaroo lovers get added to here and there. I've initiated buddy system protocol in that I hope if people see updates they tell everyone they know.

Hello! Checking in for Camp Gatos Pantalones! We're still finalizing our details but it looks like we'll be coming 30+ strong. I personally represent New York, others Texas, Wisonconsin, and Pennsylvania. Lots of us were neighbors last year, and we've got some virgins this year. We like to drink (lots of) beer and shake a leg. Looks like groop camping is going to be the place to be this year...I can't wait!
Also "tenderly awaiting our union" (awesome choice of words there), Meg

Hello from camp "Fuck You, I'm a Wizard!" will be bringing about 30 people who all like to party. We are almost all from the St. Louis area. Cant wait to be back on the farm!

STL? Nice, same here. I live in the Oakville/Mehlville area. Flying down solo again this year.
I shall go on a quest to find this camp "Fuck You, I'm a Wizard!" you speak of.

Indeed we are, as it seems everyone else in groop camping is liable to do as well! My little intro does no justice to the utter awesomeness that is Gatos Pantelones...

we are Camp Skran-a-Leah! we are currently at about 30 people. most of us are coming from South Florida (Hialeah, Miami and Hollywood) but we also have friends coming from NYC.
many of us are Roo' veterans (this will be my 6th) but we also have many newbies. we are super stoked about this new groop camping program cause its always been a mission to coordinate 20+ people to arrive together, to enter together so we can camp together.
we are still finalizing our groop. waiting for a couple stragglers to register. but no one from Roo' has been pestering me to pay the final balance so i think we're good.
does anyone know how they work out how much space they give the groop? is it based on the number of car passes? 10 car passes means you get the space they would give 10 vehicles? i've asked roo' this but no one has gotten back to me.
also, does anyone know the exact amount for each person? on the website it says $30 + app fees so i wasnt sure. i've been asking my people for $40 each jic.
on to the fun part.... we all love to party and have a great time. we have drinkers, smokers and more. we totally look forward to meeting our groop neighbors.
i'm so seeking out Camp Fuck You, I'm a Wizard! love that name! and Groop Cannaroo! wow! 54+! thats amazing!
you are all welcome to come visit us at Camp Skran-a-Leah! ;D
Any reviews on Groop Camping? Was it worth it? My friends and I were stuck way out in the nameless section of Pod 1 which we made the best of, but we're wondering if Groop Camping might be something to look into for next year.

I thought group camping was great. We had people showing up at different times and we slowly built our compound. It was close to bathrooms, food, water, and pretty close to centeroo. Our spot was kinda small for the number of cars we had even though we all carpooled. We were camp 8 though and at the very end so they said we could use some of the extra space for cars/tents. I would do it again next year in a heart beat. The only bummer is that the entire cost has to hit one persons credit card and they have to collect from the group.

Having a chunk of land to set up your camp was pretty awesome. Also, after looking at the other threads, I don't think there were nearly as many cops on ATVs in groop camping due to the set up. I dont think they would be able to access campsites as easily. You could technically park your cars along the border of your spot so they could not see anything when riding by too.
It was pretty awesome camping with everyone. My groop was right at the entrance so we were very close to the bathroomds and centeroo.
It really did suck having to put the money up front and then ask everyone for their money though.

We were at the edge of group camping and had a couple cops walk into our camp and bust a guy and take a piece from another. There were less cops but we did not make it unscathed...still think cops walking into camps is odd
Had to front just under $2,000 on my credit card as group leader (64 members). I recommend y'all only go with people that you trust will pay you. I have a feeling I may have been more fortunate than most...

So assuming this might be happening next year as well, is there any Inforoosters out there that might want to make up a Groop for next year? I was kind of bummed that you had to have such a large group to do it this year because navigating a caravan through the checkpoints was hell and the fucking high horse kept giving me shit for trying to keep my group together. So about three or for small groups of Inforoosters would be legit to have a Camp InfoGroop.
I highly HIGHLY reccomend Groop for anyone who has the means to do so... It was fucking awesome. We were the second biggest Groop there (Camp Redditroo had us beat by 1 or 2 people) and our setup was pretty rad... I'll post some photos.
MC is right to the extent that literally everyone in my groop was thrilled with the set up of groop camping. And I was getting love all weekend for being the group leader. However, being the group leader definitely involved more stress than I anticipated. I'm 100% going to be doing groop camping next year, but I am already searching for the next groop leader to replace me.
As groop leaders, did you guys have any plans or strategies on how to allot space to people as they arrived? I would be concerned that the last people to arrive might get shorted on space, especially with big groops.

We had way more than enough space allotted to us. So that wasn't an issue. Idk if it will be the same next year tho...

Having to miss last year's Roo, I missed out on the introduction of this program. From what I've gathered from this thread it sounds like an amazing way to go. The only drawback being the burden on the Group Leader. Looks like Bonnaroo addressed that issue by making the Leader only responsible for a refundable deposit, and a rather affordable one at that. 3 Years ago I was lucky enough to camp in this area and remember how great it was, especially compared to being out in Mustafa the next year.
At any rate I wanted to see if the sentiment quoted above was still out there, as I would be more than happy to work with fellow inforoosters to put a group together in any way. As of right now I only have 2 cars worth (6 people) of both veterans and first timers and would hate to miss an opportunity to combine with others for a killer weekend

Okay so I want to start a camp is anyone interested? I just want to park closer and do not need to know anyone or maybe get in on another camp I see it is like $35 which would negate having to forma big group but I would like to see if anyone would like to hang with me.

I'm down as long as I am still traveling solo. I find it difficult to talk my friends into things they are not familiar with, I.e. meeting strangers with similar interests.

My group is still in the early stages of forming. But I am very interested in joining someone's group. So far there are 9 of us, we're coming from Canada and will most likely have 2 cars. I'm thinking that there is going to be at least 4 more people. I am working on convincing them that Groop Camping is the way we should go.
I'd love to be kept in the know regarding an Inforoo Groop.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go on an overnight drunk, and in 10 days I'm going to set out to find the shark that ate my friend and destroy it. Anyone who wants to tag along is more than welcome.
