What are the chances of grabbing this new iteration of Phil and Friends? I REALLY want to see it! I think P+F is better than Furthur. I hear the shows on Pandora and the rock. Any band with Warren and Joe Russo is boss if you ask me.
I caught their run in Broomfield, CO last weekend. AMAZING. Scofield was on fire, Haynes (as always) blew me away, Phil was dropping bombs, and Russo kept it tight. Way better than any of the Furthur shows I've attended. I'm praying they get added now. It's always good to pay a little homage to the fathers of the scene...
Furthur is Phil and Bobby plus the guitarist from Dark Star Orchestra, and Joe Russo on drums, and someone else I believe. Basically the living heart and soul of the Dead and then a few talented musicians.
He tells you that your music is stupid and your mother didn’t love you and tucked your weenie as a baby, and you should give him a kiss because you looked so pretty in your dress you wore up until you were five. No comeback will save you. He already brought it and served it up hot in your “damn face”. If you ignore him, you suck. If you retaliate, you suck. It does not pay to like Korn around this guy. You must be a stupid piece of “shit” and a monkey jerking off and beating a 5 gallon bucket is better than Korn. Just cry yourself to sleep and give up.
Actually, Juggs is pretty fair if you post coherent and logical responses. He may not agree with you but if you don't post like an idiot he usually can have a back and forth discussion. I've had him crack jokes about me/music I enjoy in the past. I've responded/retaliated to posts of his in the past. I've also ignored him in the past.
He's opinionated and vocal about it for sure....but he always explains himself in a calm and rational manner. Some people just react to his posts as if he's literally punching their mom in the face when really he's just commenting on stuff on a message board.
And Nic....cut out the cursing. This is your warning.

Gogol bordello seems to be festival hopping. And they're off from may 27th til June 29th. I missed their show last year and I've been kicking myself ever since.

The Dead = All surviving members + Warren Haynes
Furthur = Weir, Lesh, Russo, Kadlecik, Chimenti, + Two back up singers (Sunshine Garcia, can't remember the other)
Other Ones = Precursor to The Dead. All original surviving members were in at some point. When Kreutzmann joined up in 2000, Phil went off to do some Friends shows. Susan Tedeschi, Hornsby, Jeff Kimock, and many others played with them as well.
And wow, you're like a walking, talking infomercial to turn people away from Pearl Jam and Ohio State, aren't you? Before you started posting here I quite liked Pearl Jam and was indifferent towards OSU, now I find myself wishing that Eddie Vedder falls down a mine shaft or that Columbus is infested with locusts

Had to post this somewhere.
A name that occasionally gets mentioned in terms of headlining/performing or being added to the lineup is Outkast.
Many of us recognize that a one-time, surprise reunion show at Bonnaroo is not how Outkast would return. There's just too much money to be made on a full tour and there would be rumors/talk of them working on stuff before it happened so it wouldn't be a complete surprise.
Anyway, some would point out that there were rumors/talk on the net of a new Outkast album being worked on but it turns out.....that's not the case.
GQ talked to Andre Benjamin and here's what he said about an upcoming Outkast album:
GQ: So does that mean we can expect to hear the album we've all be waiting on? Andre 3000: It depends on which album you're talking about.
GQ: A new 'Kast album! Andre 3000: There's been a lot of talk on the Internet about an OutKast album and I have to say that as of now, there are no plans for another OutKast album. There's a lot of music on the horizon. I've been living off the excitement of new artists. I've been privileged to have these new artists kind of reach out and grab back and say, "Hey, Andre, we want you on this song." So I've been taking those calls and for the last two years, I've been doing collaborations. So these new artists have kind of been keeping me alive. I've just really been feeding off of that and this year I think I'm planning to do a solo project. I don't know when it will come out, but hopefully it'll come out this year. As far as OutKast, I really don't know if or when that will happen.

I think we're pretty much done on hip-hop and/or electronic so chances look thin on Special Disco Version/Amon Tobin/Tobacco. I think we can expect to see a lot of metal, a lot of jam, and Jack White.
Kid Cudi. he's releasing the wzrd ep on the 28th and him and Dot Da Genius are gonna tour behind it starting in april. it's like rockish i guess. Cudi knows whats up and the 45 minutes he played last time were a f*ckin blast. needs to happen.

Cudi's last set at Roo was one of the most awful, depressing musical "performances" I have ever witnessed.

Encore: -Ball and Biscuit -Seven Nation Army -Screwdriver

After seeing The Black Keys in 2010, I was soooo tired. I had been going non-stop all day, so I went to a picnic bench and sat down to rest. Eventually Cudi came on, and from where I was sitting, his show was pretty awful.

You are a strange man, Willis.
Indeed, I also liked that movie somewhat. I think my trolling took to new heights due to the fact my parents have been staying at my house for the past 2 weeks. I hide in my Study to avoid them and vent my rage. They are gone now and my mood is already 10x better I do not even feel the need to troll.
Don't take much of what I say seriously. I'm not mad or angry with anyone.

i'll explain the hate.
his show was short. he just got arrested the night prior so safe it's to say his mind may not have been completely submersed in the vibe. also, he played a lot of a new songs that nobody knew at the time. a popular saying in the radio industry is "people don't know what they like, they like what they know" so it only makes perfect sense for people to be somewhat dissatisfied when like half the songs of his set were songs nobody knew. they were also songs that were going in a different direction than the rest of his set and it didn't fit as smoothly as it could've, but the dvd that has his bonnaroo performance doesn't fit your description of "most awful" and "depressing". i've seen cudi 5 times now and bonnaroo was the weakest, but the man is ON when he's on.

Omar, you couldn't be more correct. It was horrible. I heard that B.o.B. set was amazing right after Cudi. I missed it to go over to the Crystal Method DJ set (which was really good). But Cudi was a waste of a LN.

I really feel like we are missing one or two. Maybe that is just wishful thinking since I am not a big jammer.
Beck>Jack White, but I do see Jack showing up instead.
Another maybe possible would like to see added is passion pit, modest mouse, or crystal castles.
What about the flaming lips?!!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Really feels like they should be there.
I think Flaming Lips are too big for an addition but i've been surprised in the past.
Passion Pit seem more likely in terms of the popularity/status of the act.
Lips just seem to do every festival when they can if they haven't in the past year. I think is part of their scheme.
Just looked and they are playing in Manchester England June 9, so doesn't look good. Wrong Manchester. Seeing darkside at hangout should contain my fix for a little while. (I see them a few times a year ;D )
