David Byrne, Robyn Hitchcock, Dirty Projectors and someone else. Something along those lines I think. Maybe Robyn wasn't involved. I forget. Google "Superjam", "Byrne", and "Dirty Projectors" and it may come up.

I think it'd be great to have a Midnight Ramble-style late night tribute to Levon for the Superjam. Maybe get some of his Ramble collaborators. The list is extensive: Little Sammy Davis, Donald Fagen, John Medeski, Emmylou Harris, Warren Haynes, Bob Weir, Taj Mahal, and then, of course, Garth Hudson (and that's just a fraction of the entire list). Maybe they can pull some strings and get Robbie Robertson and Bob Dylan
I could see them having a set band (maybe Garth Hudson and John Medeski on keys, Warren Haynes and Jim James on guitar, Phil Lesh on bass, don't know who would hold down drums, but it'd need to be someone with a lot of talent (Max Weinberg has played at the Ramble and I could see him filling the spot)) with different vocalists/collaborators for different songs, and a big Last Waltz-style closer with everyone
Yeah, I just posted in another thread about how great this would be. He was so well-respected as an artist that I really hope they do this this year. I would think that they could load the stage with artists who would want to pay tribute to him.

Anybody else wishing the Superjam announcement came with an artist announcement as well? Jack White? Warren Haynes? Keller Williams? Santana? Any of the fellas from Galactic? I dunno, I think that'd be sweet
Why does everyone keep saying super jam isn't about jam bands? I mean obviously it isn't limited to jam bands only, but every super jam I have seen or read about, minus 2011, was extremely jam band heavy.
2008 wasn't. 2009 wouldn't have been (but it ended up not happening anyway). 2007 wasn't.
2008 wasn't? Gogol Bordello with Les Claypool playing Tom Waits songs. If that's not a jam band, I dont know what is. As for 2007, Ben Harper and Quest Love are 2 of the best improvisers in their game. And with sit ins from CPT. Kirk and Warren Haynes... Yeah definitely not jam band oriented.

I suppose this will kick off another endless debate of "what is a jam band".
Gogol and Les playing Tom Waits songs isn't a jam band to me. A jam band to me are bands like Phish, Grateful Dead, String Cheese Incident. Just because an act can stretch a song out doesn't make them a jam band (IMO).
When I think of Gogol Bordello doing Tom Waits songs I don't think of jam band.
When I think of Questlove and John Paul Jones playing Led Zeppelin songs I don't think of jam band.
You're right, those artists can "jam" or "improvise" but that doesn't make the superjam "jam band heavy".
^ I really think we would have gotten a LN announcement by now. Seeing as how we are only a few weeks away from the schedule, I think we won't be getting a special LN announcement this year. Hope I'm wrong though.
