My brother needs tickets to the Asheville show. Any quantity would be great. They tried to get eight tickets since they're going in a big group but were only able to get four. So, like many others, if you find reasonably priced tickets anywhere or realize you can't go at the last minute, please message me and let me know. Thanks, guys.
And congrats to those of you who got tickets. I snagged one to the Chatt show, so I know how awesome the feeling is.
I was able to get 2 tickets to Detroit! It said is was sold out right away but I tried about 1:07 and two tickets became available.
God this just angers me to no end. Congrats and all on getting the tix but myself and 5 other friends had the official time.gov US clock up and were on the page 2 seconds after it turned 1. We were shut out the very first time and I continued to keep trying nonstop for a half hour afterwards with no luck.
This dude shows up 7 minutes late and waltzes right in to 2 tickets. Unbelievable. My hate for ticketmaster is unmatched by anything else on this Earth
I get that your pissed off and you have a right to be, but at ticketmaster and scalpers. Please stop lashing out at people whom's posts you're not even completely reading.

I'm going to the Orange Peel tomorrow night to see Joy Formidable and I'm planning on asking around to hear what kind of madness went down this afternoon. If I didn't have work, I probably would've have been part of it.

I agree. The online ticketing model sucks and makes buying tickets to hot shows a total crapshoot. Gone are the days when true fans would line up for hours at the box office to score tickets. Now anyone with an Internet connection and a lack of principles can become a scalper, and get lucrative returns to boot.
I also agree with bacon. Save the vitriol towards other people on the boards. I'm confident that artists that care will address the problem sooner than later (e.g. Mumford & Sons Ryman residency).

Speaking of lining up, what was with that picture posted earlier? Did the Orange Peel set aside a certain amount of tickets for people at the venue itself?
*Also, congrats to those that got them. Hope things work out for those who didn't.

Thanks for the link!
So that's a no I guess. I don't know why anyone would wait in line in this day and age. Unless it's a special occasion where they set some aside, there's just no chance.

On their Facebook, the Orange Peel said they're going to release about 30 more tickets tomorrow sometime in between 2-5 p.m. They caught some scalpers and are going to resell those tickets. Hope springs eternal!
Why exactly are ALL shows now not ticketless? Your ticket should be printed with your name on it when shipped to you. You show an ID for that ticket when you get to the venue. If you want to sell/give the ticket to a friend, then you give them a copy of your ID to take with you to the show. Thats how a few venues here in Nashville do it.

^This almost deserves its own thread. Hot tickets at small venues (I'm Nashville-centric so the Ryman IMMEDIATELY comes to mind) are increasingly difficult to obtain, precisely due to the current online ticket model.
Not so sure. It would be a lot easier to identify and report scalpers that way if they had to give up copies of their ID
Fair enough. Guess my thought process is it would be insanely easy for a scalper to make a fake copy of an id. I mean obviously an actual fake ID takes some time and effort, but if venues just accepted paper copies of IDs, scalpers would 100% photoshop up an ID real quick. That way they don't have to run the risk of handing over their real ID/information.
For shows as high demand as this, scalpers will go through a lot of trouble.
*This is kind of an aside, but this topic just reminded me. The final NIN shows were all "paperless", but you could have a +1. Scalpers were selling there +1s for a 1,000+, showing up to the venue with the buyer, and then walking in the door with them and then immediately leaving. It's just absurd really. But if the money is there, people will do what they have to do. Like I said I don't think this directly relates to your suggestion, just reminded me of how absurd these things can get sometimes.

In order to get around scalpers they really need to adopt the Tom Waits routine for getting tickets. Jack has played around with this idea but hasn't stuck with it.
2 tickets max per person. Will call only. You arrive, get your tickets (show ID and card you purchased with), and walk right in. No re-entry.

The Tom Waits model is pretty much the only scalper-beating model that I've seen, but if there was one really good workaround against scalpers, Orange Peel/Ryman-type venues would have adopted it by now.
if anyone can get an extra ticket tom for the OP during the resale do it many inforooers <? would be grateful I still need 1 and would be happy to sweeten the deal with some extra goodies hopefully not many people have seen the FB post and we all have luck

Trust me, I did not show up 7 minutes late, I actually was on before 1 constantly refreshing just so that I could time it right (plus I left work early just to be prepared for this because I was shut out of the presale). When I received the sold out message multiple times I was beginning to think that it was just not going to happen. But I remembered that board members have posted in the past of getting tickets for other shows well after the sold out messages appeared. So I tried one more time and 2 tickets came available, I was not expecting it all.
I agree with your hate of ticketmaster and have shared your frustration in the past with other shows. Hopefully you and your friends are able to find decent priced tickets to the show. I would say hopefully they add a second show, but according to the article below there are no plans to add one.
What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.
If anyone happens to get one extra ticket to The Orange Peel or knows someone who has one, please PM me or Facebook message me or text me (XXX-XXX-XXX) immediately. Thanks.
You know better than to put your number on a public message board.

All they've said is that they'll release them sometime between 2 and 5 p.m and that they'll "post on Facebook right before they're getting released." Other than that, they've just told everyone who's asked to stay tuned.
