List reminded me of how overrated/not good that Black Madonna track was. She complains about white people gentrifying stuff then turns around and makes a gentrified disco track, just kind of funny to me.
This song was on the most recent Bicep essential mix and I've been obsessed with it. Nice to see it get ranked so highly by mixmag:
It's overproduced to me. Doesn't have the feeling that disco songs give me and it's a full live band so it doesn't sound quite like a house track. It's just in a weird inbetween that rubs me the wrong way. I'll give this track a listen in a bit.
What were everyone's favorite shows/sets they saw this year? Anything that you're looking forward to next year?
My favorites were Todd Terje, Mau5 b2b Prydz, Speedy J, Hunee/Ron Trent/Antal, Nico Jaar, Bonobo, Justice, Floating Points, Pantha Du Prince, Ben UFO and of course The Black Madonna.
Edit: I have really high hopes for Nina Kraviz tomorrow, almost forgot about her.

Favs were Bicep live, Four Tet, Jamie xx, Nicolas Jaar DJ set, The Black Madonna, Mano Le Tough, Josh Wink, Justice, Call Super, Maya Jane Coles (both at her NY show and at Coachella) and Moscoman. May be forgetting a few there.
I should spend a day or two checking all these best mixes from Crack and other magazines.
That Avalon Emerson mix from Printworks made my jaw drop. She mixes Shamir with some industrial techno jam, never thought that'd be a combo I'd want ever.
