Feb. 28 New Multitudes
Jay Farrar (Son Volt), Will Johnson (Centro-matic), Anders Parker (Varnaline), and Yim Yames (My Morning Jacket) perform unrecorded Woody Guthrie songs.
On April 2nd, for the 40th anniversary of Thick as a Brick, Ian Anderson will be releasing a sequel to the Tull album simply titled "Thick as a Brick II". In addition to the album, Ian Anderson and his solo touring group will put on the "Thick as a Brick 2012 Tour" which will feature both albums in their entirety.
Thick as a Brick was one of the first truly classic albums that my Dad got me to sink my teeth into as a kid. I'm very nervous and excited to hear what this album will sound like.

Portishead member and noted producer Geoff Barrow (pictured above) has announced plans to release an album of hip-hop tracks he's crafted under the Fuzzface moniker in collaboration with 7STU7 (Portishead’s engineer) and DJ Katalyst. The trio is operating under the name Quakers. The self-titled LP's tracklist will arrive at a jaw-dropping 41-song length, and includes vocal appearances from the likes of Guilty Simpson, MED, Diverse, Aloe Blacc, Dead Prez, and many others. The LP is set to drop via Stones Throw sometime in March. You can check out the artwork and full tracklist below. (via FACT)
To commemorate the 100th anniversary of Woody’s birth, Nonesuch Records will be releasing ‘Mermaid Avenue: The Complete Sessions’, a four disc set, comprising of remastered versions of Mermaid Avenue Volumes I and II as well as a new collection of 17 songs from the original sessions, ‘Mermaid Avenue Volume III’. The fourth disc will contain ‘Man in the Sand’, Kim Hopkins’ 1999 film, which documents the collaboration between Woody, Wilco and me.
The New Multitudes album is pretty solid. No barn burners, but I like it from beginning end. Andrew Bird's new album is pretty freakin great. It's deep. There's a lot to take in on this one.
The fact that he's teamed up w/Jason Narducy again is a good sign. Loud Bob = the Best Bob. (And not loud in the whatever-the-hell-that-DJ-stuff was!)
I've seen Bob several times (loudest shows I have EVER experienced, 2nd only to The Who!), the last time being his Last Dog & Pony Show tour. Wow...has that really been over 10yrs? It's high time he hits the road again!

Did anyone else dislike the new Sleigh Bells record? I was a huge fan of their debut, and I had high hopes going into this new album. I've stopped listening to it already. The songwriting dropped off in a major way. I liked about 3 songs off of the whole thing. Seems like every time I hype a rookie band, this happens with their follow up. Hopefully it was just a sophomore slump.

Right before it came out, Zapp said it was terrible in Now Playing Dos. I haven't listened to it yet, but I am not a fan of the second single.
