Big bump from the past but we just started watching Community.
We burned through the first three seasons in a couple weeks, this show is really really amazing. It elevates comedy on a similar level to The Office, Louie, etc. Though Louie was really more of a drama this past season, and one of the best damn dramas of the year.
Anyway I'd been warned here about season 4, and it really is the largest step down in quality I can recall a show taking. Its amazing what the absence of Dan Harmon as showrunner did to the number of laughs per episode. The first half of the season was downright painful. It seems towards the end they were picking up steam a bit, there were a few big laughs and some heart, but generally it still sucked.
Then we just started season 5 today! The first episode was all right, but we just watched the second episode, and for me the spark of the show is back full steam. I laughed and was surprised and delighted the whole episode. Its like they get Harmon back and within one episode boom, everything great about the show was back too.
anyway i'm not telling Community fans anything they don't already know, I'm just happy I found this show, and am looking forward to the rest of season five, also looking forward to what they do with the show in the new season on yahoo tv. just need to figure out how the hell to get yahoo tv to my tv tv.
EDIT: Abed's Nicholas Cage was amazing. Better than Samberg's.
What a good way to spend the holidean! I never made it through season four, but hopefully when my roommate comes back we'll be marathoning the last two seasons.

I haven't started Community, but I'm a huge fan of Dan Harmon's podcast Harmontown. It's worth checking out if you're a fan of the show. I could go on about the podcast, but I'll leave it at that and resolve to start Community in the new year!
I really dunno about next season. The actress who plays Shirley left the show now as well to spend more time with her ailin' father. But there's always Annie's Boobs.
OK the first two episodes of season 6 were outstanding. I don't know how Harmon does it. My wife and I were basically crying and hyperventilating throughout both episodes. Community has got to be the funniest show ever.
I know a show can't survive forever by continually feeding on its own absurdity, but the ride is really really fun while its lasting. Worlds within worlds (jesus wept).

I was going to check it out anyway but now I am more excited about it.

I'd be interested to know what you think. If you love Community it's more of the same but I think Harmon has amped up the crazy even more. Worlds within worlds, ITT.
This reminds me that I scooped the entire series on BluRay fer like half the retail price I think a few weeks ago. Just lookin’ fer some time to rewatch it all and check out all the bonus features!

Always good to own physical copies. They still haven't put back up the D&D episode on Netflix (because of Chang's "blackface" even though he was playing an elf).

One of the biggest reasons I wanted to snag the whole set! I’ve still got a few seasons of It’s Always Sunny to track down fer the same reason, only they never even released “Dee Day” on physical media!

that episode is still up on amazon though.
Good to know. Yeah, and it's in my collection of the series on Vudu that I got when buying the Blu-Ray. So it's still available and when I was doing a re-watch I had to switch to that catch that episode.
i've generally ignored these types of headlines for years but I think it's actually becoming a real thing:
Six seasons and a movie has long been the rallying cry for fans — and the cast — of “Community.” And, according to series star Alison Brie, there’s more movement than ever on that potential follow-up film.
“You know what, I’ll say it. There’s been movement,” Brie admits in an upcoming episode of WrapWomen’s “UnWrapped” podcast. “There’s been some talks. People are talking and certain things — wheels are turning. I said it!”
Brie’s comments come on the heels of her co-star Joel McHale, who gave fans a tease at the end of June. He played a bit coy on the matter, telling ComicBook.com that he was “more optimistic” than ever, and that “interest has returned,” but noted that there are lots of factors that need to go into making a film happen.
