Edit: going back and looking at what I've missed in this thread over the last handful of days, thanks for reminding me of Shelby Lynne, garageland . One of the great often forgotten artists of last couple decades. Now to see if I can find my old "I Am Shelby Lynne" CD.

Personally from listening to them b2b2b2etc. Fragile > Spiral > PHM > Broken (although this was the only EP I listened to in the run) > Ghosts > With Teeth >>>>> Year Zero. Edit: Not that this is necessarily a hot take or anything, seems pretty much the consensus but I guess some people think Fragile is too long.
I don't know that I've ever listened to the slip, i guess i should've added that, but I'm more interested after reading what you said. Year Zero is bad. I'd probably put the two recent EPs after WT (maybe not though, I've never been a fan of Bite the Hand). It's been awhile since I've listened to Hesitation Marks, but I know I like it more than YZ.

Wow, I'm kind of shocked to hear you disliked Year Zero so much... I'd say that's the 4th or 5th best, depending on whether I'm feeling PHM or YZ more on a given day. I think it's just so well programmed and produced, it's a sonic monster of an album. Also, the political leanings of the lyrics are only growing more relevant with current events (if I was Trent, I'd play "Capitol G" on tour and rework it to "Capital T"... but that's just me). Either way, good to see someone diving in headlong, whether you like such and such album or not. Cheers.
Edit: and personally, I'd put With Teeth and Hesitation Marks after the last two EPs even... those are just uneven records, but I still love both for different reasons. With Teeth has "Beside You In Time", "Right Where It Belongs", "Only" as excellent tracks, but also crap like "Sunspots" and "Getting Smaller", and while I didn't care much for "Hand That Feeds" in the past, it has grown on me. Hesitation Marks is just forgettable, not bad, just totally forgettable to me. The singles and "Satelite" rule, though.

Lol "Capitol G might be Trent's Chemistry [by Arcade Fire]" something I said to pablo last week. Idk it just wasn't for me, but I'm also really attached to a lot of the songs pre-WT, so it's probably more not living up to expectation v. objectively good. All That Could Have Been is probably up there for me as far as "most played CD's" go, with The Frail/Wretched as one of my favorite songs OAT, so it's hard for me to not go Fragile at 1. But I've never listened to them all in a row like this, some of them not at all turns out, and I got excited about them maybe being at DfN so decided to dive in.

I understand what you're saying, there's a pretty big difference from the Downward Spiral sound to that of Year Zero, and Trent really hasn't gone back to that TDS/Fragile style with only rare exception. And All That Could Have Been is a great live album, and its DVD counterpart is one of the best live documents ever. Also, the "Still EP" that came with certain copies of AATCHB is well worth checking out... I know a few people who consider it their favorite NIN release, honest to god. For me nothing will ever touch Fragile and TDS, but I feel it's also worth noting that I could be considered a NIN hardcore. That might put my general view of the discography into context.
