Anyone actually listen to this yet? I'd love to hear what people think. It's pretty much just some straight forward rock for those who are into that.
I felt like the coda/instrumental part of The Lake sounded like it could have been the start of a Neil Young Jam. I think the bass was mixed a little low; there were some cool lines in there, but they were buried under the guitar. The guitars have a nice overdriven tone, but they are a bit trebly and I got a bit of listener fatigue near the end of it, I think a bit more bass would have helped round out the spectrum a bit. Medium Song may have been my favorite.
I agree with the bass mix, it was even worse on the first mix but I had it raised up. I love my guitar tone but I've been told it needs more low end and I agree, especially live when we perform only as a duo. That was part of the reason I elected to have the bass down a little since we are a drum and guitar duo live.

Thank you! I get a lot of good feedback on Split in Two, I think it's too poppy, but I like it.
I re-listened and Medium Song is my probably my favorite now. I also like the punk rock vibe on Stay. I also love the scream in the first song, but I wish screaming was utilized more throughout the album. It works well with the sound, but that could just be me.
The scream reminded me of Brainiac for some reason, something about that tone. I can't remember what song though. I may have to re-visit Brainiac now.
I do love screaming. We a do a cover of Helter Skelter live where I do it almost too much.
I really enjoy Medium Song. I wrote it after listening to My Morning Jacket's "It Still Moves" four times consecutively just trying to find some inspiration. When I first wrote it, it was about 8 minutes in length and I had nicknamed it long song. I shortened it, hence the name.
After Twin Peaks last night I had to listen to this again. I think this whole thing may have been inpsired by Twin Peaks. When I listened to it before I just thought it was really weird even for NIN and didn't listen to it again.
Pretty interesting these were on top of each other in this thread, as I was listening to Algiers thinking it sounded like Trent producing a soul band, all the way down to the final track being 'The Cycle/The Spiral: Time To Go Down Slowly'.
