Having such a dilemma right now: I'm pretty sick but there's a show in LA I've been looking forward to for months tonight... Do I go and risk getting more sick, or stay home and rest?

if you've been looking forward to it for that long, I say hydrate, pop some vitamin C and Advil Cold/Sinus/Flu and power through. if you start feeling bad, you can always leave, but you'll probably be sad later if you don't go. just try not to touch your face during the show, wash your hands well, and avoid alcohol. hope you feel better! I'm dealing with a sinus infection right now and it's the worst.

It's with noting this is for Andy Stott which means you should totally do it. Don't be a pansy.

Depends on how sick you are and how good the act is. I was in your Sanuks a couple months ago, and skipped Phantogram in favour of sleeping off a cold and binge-watching TV shows on Netflix. It was what I needed, but I can't say I was happy about it... harrumph.

Both things are about equal, I'm very sick (recently worsening bronchitis) and I LOVE Andy Stott.

Starting a couple hours ago, I'm not working until Tuesday night. I plan on spending all of my time reading and then playing pool while intermittently saturating Now Playing Dos with the soundtrack.

It's probably too late but worsening bronch is going to make the show pretty miserable. Have you already bought tix?

I already bought tickets and we went & made it through! Right before I left I realized a lot of my worsening symptoms were most likely withdrawal symptoms from my pain medicine (which I stopped abruptly a few days ago, without knowing better) instead, so I sucked it up and went.

Very glad I did, too!
I swear they don't warn people about stopping pain meds EVER! Glad you were able to make it!

I know! I had no idea, and I DID have the pharmacist consult me when I first started the medicine. Jerks.

with the epidemic of prescription painkiller addiction going on, I am always surprised at how slack doctors and pharmacists are about prescribing/counseling. I have been dealing with awful headaches/migraines and can't take any of my regular migraine meds, so I brought it up with my OB at my regular appointment. she wrote me a script for oxycodone (which I'm still shocked is safe during pregnancy, but whatevs) with no counseling/discussion. I would like to think healthcare providers behave that way with me since I'm a nurse but I think it's just how they are with everyone.
(FTR, I am not anti-pain meds, the oxycodone broke through a 2-week migraine and probably saved me from death, since G was probably about to kill me for all the whining . and it's been the only thing other than chiropractic adjustments that helps when I get a bad headache these days... I just think there needs to be better accountability from people in the medical profession.)

I agree. I had a tiny cyst removed last month (scar is less than an inch long), and the doc gave me forty Percocet for the pain. I think I used two and a half over the course of 2 days (in half doses), and I was fine. The amount he prescribed was completely unnecessary, though they did come in handy a few weeks later when I had a herniated disc and could barely walk.

Don't even get me started. A few years ago I busted my shoulder and elbow (never have been the most graceful swan in the pond) worked hard at staying "ahead of the pain" post op. Decided I was feeling pretty good and without weaning stopped taking the Oxy, holy withdrawal Batman! Went back on started to wean, blah blah blah. Went for a follow up appt with the orthopedist, explained that they need to discuss this with patients and before I left they asked if I needed any refills on my prescription!!! Mind you this is the same practice that failed to notice the metastatic cancer but seriously!!!

Please don't minimize Herman like that. He was much bigger in life than a "tiny cyst" *may he rest in peace*
