Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
So I've recently become hooked on a new forum lately (don't worry Inforoo, you're still my main boo) - except this forum isn't about music, or movies, or any of my usual interests. Is it weird that I've been spending hours lately reading about urban design and architecture? A subject I previously took only a very passing interest in before finding that forum?
No, Jack. It's not weird at all. Everybody takes an interest in that sort of thing at your age... right?
Eh, quack it. Back to reading about Europe's finest bridges I go.
How can you not be interested in stuff like this? Look at it!
Seriously! See, Dave gets it.
What sparked my interest is that Crown is currently building a behemoth of a casino & resort here where a run-down old pier stands now, so I was searching for more information on that. But then I found a thread on buildings in Sydney that have been destroyed, and damn... some of the things that have been lost or destroyed here are downright criminal.
This was the Garden Palace. It lasted about three years before it burned down, because who the f*ck builds a palace out of wood?
Phoenix Insurance Company. No mas.
Sons o' biznatches.
At one point, the largest department store in the world.
Apparently Cap'n Mac is unaware that I spent two and a half years as an Architecture major.
Totally unware! Mr. Maynar, you never cease to amaze me.
So... can you help Ashley Capps design a shade structure that actually does something?
It's the good old form vs. function issue. As cool as it is that they let the students from that art school design them one year, it's not a surprise that they were heavy on form and light on function.

I've been feeling down in the dumps and kinda stuck (no, not THAT kinda stuck). Working in the kitchen is kind of therapy for me. My extended family had made a request, so tonight I turned on some tunes and made a HUGE batch of the caramel corn. But, now, I'm thinking......why can't I ever do something just for me? 'Roo cannot get here soon enough. It was the first time in YEARS I've ever done something positive just for myself. I'm conflicted.....Am I being selfish? Edit: Yes, and stop with the poor me crap
Anyway......if ya want some dee-lish-ous caramel corn.....

It would be awesome to set something up with them to design a shade structure. Architecture students actually model stuff like shading instead of just making something pretty like those design students apparently did.

Word. Architecture ftw. I know how relatively easy it was to computer model light and shade when I was in school 13 years ago. I can only imagine what it is like now. There's no excuse for them to not at least give it a shot.
Ya, the digital modeling program I use the most (Rhino 5.0) has light modeling built right in. At any point in design I can pick a day and time and see exactly what is happening. If nothing else they could of made a physical model and taken it outside.
I'm baffled by Greensboro being at #18. My brother told me he might take a job there after he graduated. I told him that if he did, it's been a good run and I'd be sure to send cards at Christmas and his birthday.
I'm just obsessed with "Best Cities To Live In" Lists.

What's wrong with Greensboro? I love the whole Greensboro/Jamestown area.
Also, that list is kind of crap. Nobody puts Knoxville above Chattanooga anymore.
That list is some major BS, and I'm not just talking about the fact that boring-ass White Plains NY ranks twice as high as funky li'l Asheville NC. I'm talking about the fact that I've been to 30 states and lived in another 4, and St. Louis is hands down the worst place I've been to anywhere in the US.
Please don't take this the wrong way, St. Louisians, but there wasn't a moment in your fair city that I didn't feel like there was an extraordinarily high probability of getting shanked. For sketchiness equivalence, i'm awarding you 8.4 Mexico Cities. *golf clap*
i am going to get a new car in the next few months. i searched but didn't find a thread for this. do we have one that anyone knows of where people are talking about what type/if they like their car/problems with their car, etc.?

I don't remember there being a thread like that before.
