We all know that vanilla is a better flavor than chocolate.
When it comes to ice cream I prefer vanilla over chocolate. I just didn't think that anybody else did. Then again, there are people who buy pints of Ben and Jerry's Vanilla Bean so I guess there's a market for everything.

Strawberry is the best ice cream flavor and it really isn’t even close.
Gotta be real strawberry and not some artificial blue bell shit though. I got it up there with butter pecan (puh cawn) and pralines and Cream. But yeah. If it’s real...
I don’t know why, but I’m getting a kick out of Ash Wednesday & Valentine’s Day being the same day.
Hope all you NOLA folk had an exceptional Mardi Gras. Valentine’s Day is the worst, but chocolate is good for hangovers. Treat yourself.
beginning of Lent too, which even though I haven't practiced Catholicism in 15 years I still like to observe in my own way.
I've noticed the past couple of months after dinner I eat a bunch of little sugary things. Rice krispy treats, little kit kats, small pieces of cake, little cookies. Maybe if I just eat one it'd be fine calorically, but once I start with the sugar it's hard to stop. I've been doing pretty good with my calories during the day, so it's a shame I'm screwing it up at night.
So for lent I'm giving up eating anything after dinner Mon - Fri. Just water or zero calorie carbonated beverages. Allowing myself a treat on the weekend if I want. Need to give myself that because I do terribly when I try to permanently abstain from a specific food item.
In other postjack self-improvement news, I've been doing 30 minutes on the exercise bike in the mornings before work, and 20 minutes of meditation at night (headspace guided meditation mostly). This isn't a Lent thing, just some healthy habits I'm trying to put in place.
Cheesecake's newest cheesecake has a strawberry mousse layer that tastes like strawberry ice cream. I took one bite, hated it, and couldn't take another. For me, it's by far the worst option we have.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
The blizzard of the month at DQ is excellent. I typically get a strawberry sundae when we go... This is basically a strawberry sundae, but blended with chocolate chunks in it.

Thanks kait. It was a pretty fun day. Weather was spectacular for this winter, so the warm and sunny day was a nice change of pace. We parked in the CBD and walked down to Frenchmen and just hung out in the Marigny all day along there and on Royal. It was kind of a random Mardi Gras as we got out there later in the day than we typically would (12:30/1:00ish) and missed Societie de St. Anne which we usually like to watch come through. That's a DIY parade and is more the "real" Mardi Gras for me as opposed to going watch parades or going into the French Quarter and particularly Bourbon Street. People just hang out all day drinking and partying, and it's more or less of a free for all down that way. I got home in time to watch Shaun White's halfpipe competition before falling asleep. I woke up around 12, and my daughter and her posse were nowhere to be seen. I talked to her this morning, and they ended up just hanging out on Frenchmen until about 1:30am. She said there was a cool local DJ just blasting local shit, so they just hung out on the street until then. That's like a 12 hour Mardi Gras day which is a bit much for me.
I saw lots of cool costumes, though there wasn't any one overriding theme this year. Some people were mocking the local sewerage and water board. Others did Trump, rednecks, etc. But it was just kind of all over the map. Fun day for sure.

We always do the St. Anne "parade" as well, this year was no exception. Caught the 9am ferry, walked to the Marigny and down Royal. We had a few houses on the way, danced, drank, partied and then scattered my friend Dave Rosser's ashes in the river at the end of the parade. We got Popeyes on our way home (because what is Mardi Gras without Popeyes?) and were passed out by 4:30pm.
It was the perfect day. I prepared for cloudy and cold and got gorgeous and sunburnt. All is right in the world. Now I start my eating right and exercising again. YAY!!!!

Filed my taxes for 2017. Every year, I take my time and make sure I do them right even though mine are pretty simple. Every year, as soon as I hit file return, this is me.
This happened to my friend Molly and her girlfriend (now fiancée) at the Rupaul Drag Show that happened here last week. Apparently, they both got with production and planned to propose to each other. Love is so sweet...and disgusting at the same time.

don't feel bad, this is me every time i file a client's tax return, and so far i haven't made a terrible unfixable mistake. so far.

to provide a comparison to mardi gras in Mobile vs New Orleans, for my Fat Tuesday I went into the office and worked 8 hours. After work I ate leftover pizza and played video games.

Mardi Gras in Buffalo:
I took my four year old to the library for story hour then spent an hour (an hour!) playing one game of checkers. Then we both took naps. I had french fries for dinner at 10 PM.

I've done mine most years since I started working. I always fill like I dunno if I did it right, but it's done! I've never messed it up.
