Yea, I guess so. It's just an image on the sidebar. I don't know too much about it other then it was brought up to the mods and we said "sure". How much is a good price to charge someone for something like that?
I don't know. I don't particularly care either way. I guess someone should at least get a few free tickets or something
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
I'm sure this has been covered elsewhere but is Okeechobee paying for ad space?
Nope. We lose money on Inforoo. Don't make money on it. They asked if we could put something to advertise and we said sure. We've done it in the past with other fests and sites.
Toasted bread is essential to a good sandwich. Trust me, I'm a professional.
I think that we'd miss out on a lot more if we could never toast bread ahead than if we were to never make another biscuit.
But if we couldn't toast bread ahead then it is reasonably probable that the proliferation of biscuits could increase. We could see more biscuit sandwiches on menus nationwide, and that is a plus. Though I'll admit there is less you can do with biscuit-based sandwiches than with toast-based sandwiches. For example, I wouldn't want tomatoes and lettuce on a biscuit based sandwich.
Goddamnit you people are converting me to the toast side. Mmmmmm I want a BLT on toast right now.

How much is this actually losing?
This doesn't lose us anything. Just saying in general we pay for things for Inforoo but don't make money off of it.
bastard love-children of a bread roll and a scone:
Haha. I was watching the Great British Baking Show. They announced the biscuit competition one episode. I was really confused when they started making things that were not biscuits. The conversion factor in my head with metric is pretty intense too.

Probably about as confused as me when I moved back to the States and first heard someone talking about chicken and biscuits. Well, that's an interesting combo...
Toasted sandwiches and plain toast are different things. I'd still take biscuits over the option to toast a sandwich.
Follow the post man!! You would have no toasted sandwiches, it's part of the deal.
Agreed. Toasted bread is toasted bread, therefore, no toasted sandwiches. I agree things like french toast are unrelated, but would argue that a panini counts. You can make toast in a pan, a panini press is basically a double sided pan.

I hate to divert from the toast/biscuit conversation, but this seems like as good a place to say this as any - I'm pretty sure if you shaved off Iain's beard and took away his accent, you'd either have Chris Hardwick or Aaron Paul.

He is basically their baby.
For those of you who have not experienced the glory of this show,

You heard people talk about it in Boston?
Not regularly, but a few times. One of my best friends there is originally from Arkansas, so I'm pretty sure I picked it up from him.

If you have good bread, and it's warm, it doesn't really need to be toasted. #teambiscuits
Completely disagree. The toasting adds stability to bread, and a crunch that is very important. There are sandwiches out there that can be untoasted, but the majority is much better with toasted bread.
Honestly, where the hell are you guys eating biscuits so much that you would give up a toasted sandwich for them? Maybe they're just not popular in the Northeast, but I can't think of a single restaurant outside of fast-food that has them.
Man this is a whole other situation entirely... so in this situation does it require that all bread on all sandwiches is cold always? As in no more making a sandwich and throwing it in a panini press? Or does it just preclude one from toasting the bread before putting together a sammie? Because no hot bread ever vs no biscuits ever is the closest I think I could ever get to a Sophie's choice.
And if it means cold bread always no matter what... I think I still pick biscuits. I'd eat a Reuben with cold bread but brunch would be a sad affair without a biscuit.
This is tricky! Because I don't think its necessarily "no hot bread ever". Like if you are at a restaurant and they bring you a loaf of hot French bread straight out of the oven, I don't really think of that as toast, even though it may have toasty qualities. It would be too insane to even consider a world without hot fresh bread.
The Panini question makes me think, because if Panini pressed bread counts as toast, then so would bread used for grilled cheese, which basically means no more grilled cheese ever. And since I previously stated that French toast wouldn't count because its not so much toasted as it is heated up in a pan, then I'd have to say grilled cheese is safe from abolition as well, since the bread is similarly heated up in a pan.
If grilled cheese is safe in this hypothetical then I feel even better about my decision.
Because croissants and biscuits are two wildly different things. Croissants are basically air and butter which is great but it's not a biscuit replacement. Biscuits are dense and will be there when you need a tummy hug.
