the pittsburgh symphony orchestra has been doing performances fusing the work of classic composers with modern groups. they've done brahms X radiohead and beethoven X coldplay over the past few months. i just randomly came across the next one, which is copland X bon iver. so i guess i'm going to that in january!
I got an email from Song Kick today saying this tour stops in Dallas on October 29 at the Southside Music Hall. Jay Rock is a guest, the band is called The Wesley Theory, and tickets range from $50-$350. They don't go on sale for the Dallas show until Friday at 10 est.
This is crazy and has to happen today, but my sister's friend accidentally purchased two tickets to the A$AP Rocky/Tyler the Creator NOLA show instead of the Dallas show and is selling them for $45 each. Hit me up asa if interested.
Kendrick Lamar: 10-20 Washington, DC - Kennedy Center 10-22 Brooklyn, NY - Barclays Center 10-24 Columbus, OH - LC Pavilion 10-25 Chicago, IL - United Center 10-27 Atlanta, GA - The Tabernacle * 10-29 Dallas, TX - South Side Music Hall * 11-01 Washington, DC - Lincoln Theatre * 11-08 Los Angeles, CA - The Forum 11-10 Oakland, CA - Fox Theater * * "Kunta's Groove Sessions" with Jay Rock and the Wesley Theory
I got a ticket to the Atlanta show for this. It was totally nerve wracking trying to get them. The livenation page said 1 minute then 5 minutes then back to 1 then it went blank for a minute then I got two tickets. My friend was next to me on the couch trying for them as well and he got the sold out notice right when I got my tickets.
To be honest, I'm only familiar with a few Wilco songs. Give me a good place to start as far as listening to an album all the way through.
Start with Yankee Hotel Foxtrot or Ghost is Born. I really like Summerteeth and their other two early albums, but the first two I named are my two favorites - and they'll definitely play a bunch of songs from YHF and GiB on this leg.

Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is what got me. A bunch of my friends all got hooked thanks to Kicking Television, their live album. Summerteeth is also an excellent entryway like Pops said.

Much obliged. Going to start with Yankee Hotel Foxtrot when I get out of night class.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

Just found out what I am doing for Halloween. Marley Carrol and In Plain Sight (and some other that I don't know) are playing the Asheville Music Hall. So excited right now.
Edit: sorry- didn't mean to make this look like click bait. (The gist of the article is that apparently the Flaming Lips will be performing naked (or touring?) with Miley Cyrus. Link is SFW.
If you missed those dates, you can catch them on Saturday headlining the North Texas Hot Shots concert.
The free concert is the latest event staged by Denton fundraising group Friends With Benefits. The concert of Denton and Dallas acts (and Denton still has a claim on Seryn, the indie-folk act that moved to Nashville a while back) takes place on the parking lot across from Oak Street Drafthouse & Cocktail Parlor. Music starts at noon, and a couple of food trucks — the Bellatrino Pizza Truck and Coochie BBQ — will be on site.
All of the proceeds will go to Michael’s Memories and the Russ Martin Show Listeners Foundation. Donations will be accepted at the gate.
Michael’s Memories is a nonprofit that gives firefighters in treatment for cancer a an all-expenses-paid family vacation. The Russ Martin Show Listeners Foundation supports the families of Dallas-Fort Worth police officers and firefighters who have died in the line of duty.
There will be alcohol and merchandise sold on site. A silent auction full of awesome items will be available for bidding from noon to 5pm. A bags tournament, sponsored by Taylor Tailgating, will start at 2 p.m. The tournament will be for two players per team. $10 entry per team.

I have been paying some attention to The Observatory in Santa Ana since it's the closest club venue to where the lady is living. It has typified how our taste in music has some differences. In the next month or so, Head Wound City is opening for Marilyn Manson and Skinny Puppy is playing with Youth Code opening. I would be at either in a heartbeat. She has exactly zero interest in either.

Would be nice to see Youth Code.
When are you going to Cali next?
December which is when we're going to Muse. She's coming back twice in November.
Prob going to get tickets for 3/13. Can't believe that is the same night as Wilco in Roanoke. My brother lives in Richmond though, one of my best buddies is only 30 mins out of Richmond...in which he will prob go to the show.
