well, I decided to go for it and buy FJM & bama shakes tickets and hope I can make it to hot chip later in the night.... (if not, I'll leave early. don't worry, hot chip freaks.)
but the real story here is that I bought 4 FJM & AS tickets, knowing they'd sell out and I could sell 2 of them. SEVEN MINUTES LATER and I went to refresh the page, thinking maybe I would try to get a few more... they're already sold out!
I think this is a first ave record. sold out in 7 minutes. wtf.
If I read this right, you were trying to buy more tickets just to re-sell them?

Damnnnn you'll be able to sell those for some good moolah probably if they sold out so quickly. Good thinkin, girl.
But scalping is the devil's work
Grabbing a few extra tickets to sell to friends for face value, that's cool. Buying extras to intentionally sell for inflated values, not so much
Yes, I know...free market...capitalism...blah blah blah
I've never bought tickets to intetionally sell at a profit - neva. But I've bought one or two extra not knowing if I'll need them, then end up being able to sell them at a little more than face. AND I HAVE NO REGRETS

Any idea of how to find about future shows? If I recall, he got rid of his twitter account late last year?
I'm wondering the same thing - would love love love to catch one of his shows. Should start saving right now...
I think you just have to pay attention to twitter and any music news sites. He will just announce them piecemeal. Check out what he did last year in the UK, announcing some shows like 18 hours in advance.
If you can go, you should. Prince is my all-time favorite so I am biased, but seeing him on the Musicology tour in 2004 was the highlight of my music life. It was the best show I've ever seen, bar none. And this all is despite my girlfriend at the time, the love of my life who I was ready to propose to, breaking up with me ON THE WAY to the show. I stopped her, we went and had a great time, the last encore was Purple Rain and we slow danced, and she finished the breakup on the way home. BEST NIGHT EVAR.

Whoaaaa that is definitely the scene out of a movie. Or the end of an episode of One Tree Hill (not trying to minimize your life to the likes of OTH, though).

Prince is doing his Hit and Run in the US starting next week in Louisville. Tix on sale Monday, no venue yet.
I'm freaking out right now. I will be there almost no matter the price.
it was $500+ fees for the wife and I to see him in Tempe, but that was a club show. not sure what kind of venues he is planning on playing for the hit n run tour.

Damn. Well thank you for the heads up. The arena nearby is booked that day, so there's a decent chance it will be a small venue.

Dr. Funkenberry on Twitter is saying the Louisville Prince show will be at The Palace, for anyone familiar. 2600 capacity. Seriously considering the 9 hour drive...

In your opinion, was it worth the price?
the whole thing was GA, and talking to the bar tender, people started lining up at about 8 in the morning to get in. It was a weeday so the missus and I had to work, and we ended up pretty far in the back; it was a sold out show and the most packed I had ever seen this venue. Prince had a no cell phone policy to prevent pics/vids. etc and there were bouncers everywhere enforcing it and even kicking people out. and the crowd was a mix of hard core purple ones (seriously, some people were dressed head to toe purple) and just rich scottsdale jerkstores. so in that regard, it was kind of a pain.
but the show itself was quacking great. it definitely wasn't for the casual fan though; he didn't "shut up and play the hits" so to speak. third eye girl is a phenomenal band, and they played through the range of his material, the R&B, rock, blues, and the funk. He brought out motherquacking LARRY GRAHAM for some Sly covers and a funk jam. He ripped killer guitar solos, shared the spotlight with the third eye girl guitarist for some songs, and just generally rocked the quack out. Prince was showing off his immense talent, and making it look effortless. he didn't seem standoffish at all, making jokes with the crowd, climbing up on his amps for solos, and running around the stage like a wild man. it was great. mid way through the set he did a little DJ set of some of his hits (doves vry, sign o the times, etc) as well as just some dance remix type beats. it was like a medley of songs. Then the band came out, they closed with purple rain, did a couple encores, and that was it. the show lasted almost 2 hours, and except for the little dj set, I would say most songs deviated from their original a bit, whether they had extended instrumental/jam/solo sections, slightly rearranged, etc. It was a very fluid show, with songs kinda blending into each other as one would end and the next would begin. Prince was basically up there playing what he wanted, and the band would keep up. I thought it was a great display of musicianship, viruosity, funkiness...it was excellent played exceptionally well. walking back to the car, I overheard a lot people complaining about the lack of hits. My impression was that these were rich people who listen to the radio who knew who prince was and just wanted to party like it was 1999. My wife is more of a casual fan, and while she enjoyed the music and show, she thought it was way overpriced. I was thoroughly entertained for every second I was there, in awe at times (I'm a bass player, when larry graham came out I was giddy). If you love prince, or love great roxk/funk/r n B shows, then it is absolutely worth the price. Prince is motherquacking Prince; on a bad day he can play circles around most people. If you are pretty casual fan, like to know all the songs being played at a show, etc, then probably not. I loved every second of it, but I don't think I would throw down that cash to see it again this time around.

Wow, thank you for the great write up. Not seeing the hits doesnt bother me. Prince can play whatever he wants while im around. Haha. Thanks for the extra push! We're going to try desperately to get tickets.
Just bought tickets to EdgeFest here in the Dallas-Forth Worth area, a really impressive lineup for this size festival and it takes care of a lot of artists i was hoping would be on this years lineup and a few that i can get out of the way pending future conflicts.
