Fourth of July at the Philly Art Museum. John mayer, Demi Lovato, Jill Scott, Neyo, Grace Potter, J. Cole, & Ben Taylor. And The ROOOOTTTSSSSS!
I'm really thinking about going down tomorrow, but I'm not sure how possible it is to get a decent spot...
Well, its going to be alot of people coming and going from spots. I cant see anyone setting up shop for 7 hours in one spot while there is multiple stages and its supposedly going to be a high of 91 with 20% chance of rain.
My plan, few water bottles of booze, maybe a lil wine too. Ill buy beer there just cuz it will get warm on he way down in my backpack. Just kinda catch it all in im not super stoaked for the music lineup (saw the roots a few times, Jill Scott is good, J. Cole is my most anticipated, hope its sweet licks on a 6 string John Mayer and not sappy love song John Mayer) but it is just a big party down the parkway and thats enough for me.
Public transport will be a mess. The rails run an extended schedule but the buses are on regular time. Basically if you dont make it back to 69th street by 12:30am your sleeping on/under a bench till the 5:00 buses start back up.

Oh so there are multiple stages? I'm trying to find info online, but I can only find detailed information about the damn fireworks haha.

Yea details are hard to come by but it seems they will probably have one main stage with a second stage and maybe a local bands stage or something minor like that. But I did read multiple stages.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to head down tomorrow night too, but I thought there was only 1 stage, and I had no idea they'd be selling beer. Any source on this Roo'adelphia? As for transportation I think I'm going to take a cab three, but getting one afterwards will probably be a nightmare.

"The day-long Party on the Parkway takes place on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway from 20th Street to Eakins Oval. The Parkway will be packed with blocks of delicious food, live entertainment, interactive fun and much more."
I read that as entertainment "stages" will be set up throughout the area. Could just be a few local bands, maybe some mummers, and a guy juggling really if ya think of it that way. They have vendors so maybe a few beer places. If not, just hit a few bars until the music starts 12pm -7pm. I was kinda thinking along the lines of the Made In America beer tents but since its not an enclosed area they might not serve beer in public like that.

If you can't find a good viewing spot on the street, I suggest the baseball park/the grassy field stage right of the main stage. It's perched on a little hill so it's a perfect spot but get there early because it usually fills up pretty fast. And as for the $35 for the Questlove/D'Angelo show tonight-the ticket price didn't make me hesitate for a second, it will totally be worth the cost.

I think I'm heading down as well. I'll probably drive to a septa station just outside of the city, and then arrive by subway. Any suggestions on which Septa station would be far enough to avoid the traffic? I found a makeshift map that shows multiple stages, but I have a feeling that most of the bands will play the main stage.
The party on the parkway is the reason why the 4th of July is my favorite holiday. It will be packed for sure with tons of Philadelphians getting down and getting sloppy. There's a ball field by the parkway near where the stage is set up that is a good spot to take in the shows. You can't see the stage from there, but the sound is fine and it's not as ridiculously packed as the area in front of the stage. Like Roo'adelphia said, it's not just the concerts that are enjoyable, but the party atmosphere that fills the parkway.

Is anyone going to GvsB III in Dallas on Friday, August 23rd? Artists are Danny Brown, Blue Hawaii, HAERTS, Empress Of, and Booty Fade. Show is at the Granada Theater and tickets are $24.
Almost 40 years removed from their debut, cult legends Goblin will launch their first ever North American tour this October. The tour will start October 1st in Atlanta and will culminate with a two night run of performances in Austin, TX at the Housecore Horror Film Festival on Oct 25 and 27.
The Italian Soundtrack Kings will perform all of their classic cuts, including scores from Deep Red, Suspiria, Tenebrae, Dawn of the Dead, Phenomena, Sleepless and other songs that are milestones among prog rock followers, including songs from Roller, Il fantastico Viaggio del Bagarozzo Mark, and most recently Back to the Goblin. Other famous scores never performed live anywhere will be included on this tour.
First signals of a reunion started 8 years ago when Massimo Morante and Maurizio Guarini, together with other members of Goblin, released a new album, Back to the Goblin, after a long absence. The band felt it was time to expose the music to new generations of fans and invigorate their loyal following. In 2009, Goblin started touring the world, hitting the major European cities including Rome, Paris, London, Berlin and many others (in 2010 Claudio Simonetti re-joined the band). The band found the tour to be a great success, and the fan base kept growing, bringing back the old enthusiastic crowds of the seventies and converting new fans of all ages along the way. To follow this up, in 2011/2012 the band ventured to Japan and Australia and met the same enthusiasm. This led to an increased desire to come to North America as a full band for the first time ever.
The tour will include a small amount of VIP ticketing, allowing fans to meet the band, get up close, see part of the soundcheck, and walk away with commemorative poster. Also, during the tour the band will be selling an exclusive tour EP put out by Death Waltz Records. The EP features brand new versions of Classic Goblin tracks re-recorded by the recently reunited band. The EP will be pressed on blood red 180g vinyl and feature an exclusive cover design by poster artist Graham Humphrey's (Evil Dead, A Nightmare On Elm Street).
The line up for this tour will include original members since 1975 Claudio Simonetti and Maurizio Guarini (keyboards) and Massimo Morante (guitar). The band is rounded out by drummer Titta Tani and bassist Bruno Previtali that joined in 2010. Support on the tour (up to October 20) will come from the Northern California based Secret Chiefs 3, formed by Mr. Bungle founding member Trey Spruance. Secret Chiefs 3 have developed quite a cult following of their own over the last 15 years with their blend of other worldly psychedelic rhythms and melodies.

Anyone plan on checking out Ghost Brothers of Darkland County, the musical by Stephen King, John Mellencamp, and T Bone Burnett. I'm just now listening to this soundtrack and I'm really enjoying it. Elvis Costello as Satan was enough for me to give it a spin. Kristofferson, Neko Case, Dave and Phil Alvin, Ryan Bingham, Roseanne Cash, Taj Mahal. and Sheryl Crow are all nice as well. The production by T Bone Burnett is great as always.
