The only problem I could see would be south bound 95 on a Friday afternoon. If you decide to do it, just pm me and I'll show you help out with parking and what-nots. There are tons of places to eat (and drink) around there.
I wouldn't expect them to go on till 7:30 at the earliest.

My family is down in NC, so yep, I've unfortunately had to deal with the hell that is southbound 95 traffic on a Friday afternoon - it ain't pretty. But I've seen Future Islands twice and both were unbelievable shows, so if I can get a friend to come along with me, I'd consider it a worthwhile trek. I could easily just go into work an hour or two early that day, then leave by 3/3:30.
I will definitely be in touch if I decide to go Thanks.

not quite relevant: don't remember if I told you, but when I was in RVA visiting VCU I went to black sheep... and fucking DIED and went to submarine sandwich heaven. I still think about that sandwich from time to time.... like right now....
I just realized that half of the shows I have tickets to coming up are on saturdays.... the one night a week where I make the most money and can't constantly take off. :/
including: death cab, young fathers, father john misty, hot chip... plus with roo & hangout fest & big ears in there, too.

I'm going to have to make some cuts
If you cut Hot Chip, you better not tell me.
haha don't worry! hot chip is the one I for sure won't cut - since I've never seen them and they aren't at any fests that I'll be at this summer.
it looks like I can sell my FJM ticket for $75+ and I've seen him a few times already... same thing with death cab... I should cut young fathers, but I LOVE seeing bands that are going to blow up at a tiny venue. ugh, life!!!
in the past two days, i've bought tickets to modest mouse, will butler and father john misty. my bank account is mad, but my heart is hoping these guys can pull me out of this rut. also, there is a waxahatchee show at pitt at the end of the month for $8. do it?

Just bought tickets to The King Khan & BBQ Show, The Mowgli's with Hippo Campus and Fences, and San Fermin with Natalie Prass. So, the months leading up to 'Roo are starting to fill up!

I believe you already know the answer to this.
haha mostly asking because i'm not super familiar with her, but i've heard a few songs.
San Fermin is incredible live - you're in for a treat. And damn, the Mowglis/Hippo Campus sold out quick over here in DC. where are you?
I've seen San Fermin live a couple times, big fan. This will be the first time I see them with Charlene Kaye though. These are all St. Louis shows, The Mowgli's show is a Monday night so might not sell out.
So I've planned my budget This is the best year of live music in my life. This Saturday, Charlotte- Fleetwood Mac. words can't describe my excitement. Monday March 23rd, NYC- The Preatures. My Girlfriend and I are going to be in NYC for her spring break. They were great at roo and tix were 25. Why not? Tuesday March 24th, NYC- Action Bronson. Nuff said. Thursday April 2nd, Pittsburgh- Alt-j/Tycho. Saw Alt-j at Roo in 13. Unlike most I like both albums. Tycho is the perfect opener. Day before my Birthday. Monday April 20th, Pittsburgh- Modest Mouse. Getting tickets Friday. I love this band. Have for years. I can't believe it. Friday May 1st- May 3rd, Memphis- Beale Street Music Fest. First year going. Pretty pumped. Monday May 11th, Asheville- TV on the Radio. Just got really into em this year. Became a huge fan. So excited. Wednesday May 20th, Charlottesville- Beck. So pumped. Always been a casual fan. Fell in love and checked out his entire discography. So pumped. Sunday May 24th, MN- Soundset, Only one that isn't positive yet. 14 hour drive so depends on Friends who commit. Thursday June 11th- 14th, Manchester- Bonnarrrrooooo. Saturday July 4th, DC- Foo Figthers 20th Anniversary concert. Never seen em. One of my favorite bands. So excited.
We have very similar tastes.
I will also be at the Fleetwood Mac show Saturday. Taking my mom, got her tickets for Christmas. The only two bands that she has ever really wanted to see were the Beach Boys and Fleetwood Mac. After Saturday she has accomplished seeing both with me.
sooo... I just realized the alabama shakes + father john misty show on may 30th starts at 4:30 (well, "doors", I'm assuming - it's an outdoor event) and the hot chip show that night has doors at 8:00 - meaning they won't go on until probably 10:30 or so.....
does this mean I should get tickets to the bama shakes + FJM and attempt to attend both that show and hot chip in one day? this would also mean I could free up the saturday to work on the upcoming FJM solo show that I was talking about yesterday....
Considering going up for this just to see MMJ for free, but it if its only going to be an hour set in the middle of the day then I would just rather pay $45 and go to their own show.
well, I decided to go for it and buy FJM & bama shakes tickets and hope I can make it to hot chip later in the night.... (if not, I'll leave early. don't worry, hot chip freaks.)
but the real story here is that I bought 4 FJM & AS tickets, knowing they'd sell out and I could sell 2 of them. SEVEN MINUTES LATER and I went to refresh the page, thinking maybe I would try to get a few more... they're already sold out!
I think this is a first ave record. sold out in 7 minutes. wtf.
edit: jk they're back on - but probably not for long.
