Help me out guys. I was at the Bonnaroo 2006 show and couldn't really get into it. I think part of that was that I wasn't really famailiar with the material. I want this time to be a better experience and I think getting myself familiar with the catalog will help. So, how should I start. I listened to OK Computer straight through the other night and I enjoyed it. I also saw the special they had on DirecTV ( I think it was the Live from the Basement, it was just them in a studio playing) and thought it was great. Give me a route to take please. Thanks in advance.

I am not sure I really want to go to Radiohead this year the show in 06 was so good I have a feeling watching them play a short festival set of their newer stuff is just going to be underwhelming.
not sure where you are getting "short festival set" from. they probably wont marathon 30 songs again (though they might)
but they sure as hell wont play kol and street spirit and call it a night either. we will get a solid 2 hours+
Really? I would bet money we get the same 90 minute set they play on tour, I would love to be wrong but I am not getting my hopes up. For the past two years except for Sunday the headliners have been playing 90 minute shows on Friday and Saturday. Stevie, KOL, Arcade Fire, Eminem, all played for about that each.
We will know more after the tour opener and we can see what the tour setlist is like.
I'm 87% sure he's trolling, but for the record Radiohead hasn't played 90 minute shows on their tour in the past. So it's silly to assume they will play a 90 show at Bonnaroo.

In 2010 they all had 2 hour slots. In 2011 they all had 90 minute slots. They meaning Fri/Sat headliners.

I like how you have been toting this attitude since Insider confirmed them even though you are basing this off of two shows in New York that they booked to try and play their newer material live (they also didn't have all of their equipment in New York, because they only brought what they needed to do SNL/Colbert). There was a quote from one of the members saying it was gonna be less of a "greatest hits" show, but members of Radiohead have also been quoted saying that their newer music was going to be "mostly orchestral" and also that they "probably were never going to make a full length album ever again" so I really wouldn't take anything they say in an interview too much to heart.

i've seen them 3 times.. their shows usually run about 2 hours front to back, I wouldn't expect less unless they're only given a 90 minute slot (i hope not).
as mc said, those NYC shows in september were different because they didn't bring all their equipment (hence everything in its right place and subterranean homesick alien being played on a piano instead of rhodes).
they've been quoted as saying that the king of limbs was never meant to be a full length album but that's what it turned into, so it's possible that at the time they did feel that their new material would be more orchestral.. they have a ton of new material that was not included on TKOL that was more rock oriented (it's been heard at soundchecks, mentioned in interviews, or played acoustically by thom) so i'm kind of expecting their next album to consist of those songs. so expect to hear maybe 4-5 new ones on this tour i'm guessing..

I would argue that KOL, Arcade Fire, and Eminem would have a hard time playing 2 hours + of songs people would want to hear or even have enough material to do so period. Stevie, yes, but he was a opener for the headliner.
Move on to OK Computer. If that's not your thing, check out Kid A. If that's not your thing either, you don't like Radiohead.
I took this as him saying he liked the album. If so It happens
hah, i see how i could have been a little misunderstood with my wording. to clarify: awatd is right, i haven't been able to listen to anything because i'm really loving 'the bends' that much. OK Computer is next, but it's gonna be a little while before this one runs its course.
Seriously, anyone know why Jess has slipped into "ultra troll" mode again?
Wow I must be good if the "ultimate troll" thinks I am a "ultra troll" LOL at juggsy calling anyone a troll.
Funny, I think that of the posters on this board who've been around more than a couple months, many more would ascribe the label "troll" to your behavior of late than of anything I've done. I antagonize (OFTEN AND WITH GREAT RELISH), but it's generally within the context of an actual opinion of substance. Or maybe I've been the one spamming threads with pictures of washed up 80's pop stars, I don't know. Sometimes I get confused.

I will admit the irony in watching people who purposefully try and ruin a thread squeal when it happens to them is pretty enjoyable. Also for the record I was not the one who started spamming threads with pictures of washed up 80's pop stars. They have a point though antagonizing people is a little bit fun. Honestly though I was just seeing how thin their skin was, it is always funny when people who like to dish it out, don't really have the ability to take it themselves.
^They specifically brought in that second drummer from Portishead so that they could do the poly-rhythms on KoL. This is also why they didnt tour last year, right when the album came out (portishead was on tour). We'll get most of KoL, but also plenty of sick stuff from their catalogue. I'd imagine a lot of Kid A, In Rainbows & OK Computer, definitely light on the 90s stuff (since that might not mesh with KoL as well).

There really is no way to know until they play a show. Didn't Thom say in a interview that they would be mainly focusing on In Rainbows, and KOL?

Just like to point out that I predicted this exact type of response several hours ago:
Jess is just upset because we don't all think his new "joke" is teh funniest thing evar. He's like a comedian down at the Chuckle Hut who bombs during his set and instead turns to insulting audience members. Later, when he calms down he'll act like it was all part of the performance, and wasn't just a tempertantrum.
