i flew in to roo with all of my gear. it was a hassle but i was bringing in an air mattress/pump, tent, sleeping bag AND a tiny canopy for my tent. hooray for REI!
still- if i'm going overseas i want to carry as little as possible in the way of gear and as much as possible in the way of awesome
My gypsy caravan only holds 4 people. And I will be VERY particular on one person, since someone will have to share a bed with me, and I have very strict bed-rules. Please apply in person.

i will be holding the same kind of auditions for my sleep buddy.
pictures needed and like i said- we would possibly do a trial run at a nearer festival/show to see how the big/little spoon situation works out
Druid, do you drool, kick, spoon or have any interest in otherwise touching me while I sleep? Cause I don't like touchy sleepers
Definitely sig worthy.
I have a tendency to talk in my sleep, or so I have been told, so I will probably invest in one of those minature yurts for myself.
I envision a pretty good fight when I tell Kristi that I am going to Europe, and I'm not taking her..
On a side note, I made 80 dollars yesterday for my Glastonbury fund, I need to go to the bank and open another free checking account now.
I am going to take the GF to Europe and send her off for a week, then a week together. She got her PhD in Germany so she knows her way around pretty well.
My girlfriend doesn't know how to operate a compass, i really don't think she would be safe somewhere like that by herself, honestly. Also, I make enough money that if I save starting right now, I should have just enough money to get to Glastonbury in 2013, but I will have to eat spam and crackers for the next year and a half. I really don't think I could afford to take her, and pay for a week of decent hotel rooms, aswell.
Speaking of which, does anyone need a kidney? I have one that I would be willing to part with for $1500

I do not know your lady's circumstances, but I'm pretty sure if I wanted to go to Europe, I would be paying for it myself. /end feminist rant
Yeah, I am certainly not paying for the GF to go. She is a big girl and can go or not as she pleases. I am looking forward to having some Europe time with her though.
I would love for her to be able to fly over after glastonbury, and us spend a week over there, but I doubt I would have the funds for that, even if I sold the kidney.
Kristi is one of the sweetest people I have ever met, but she is horrible with money, and she hasn't had a job since November. Even if she got a full time job that paid decent, I doubt she could save anywhere near enough to make it happen, and that's with her not having any bills.
idio, can Druid and I count as a couple since her other half won't go and I don't have one?

sounds good to me!
druid is tall, but seems free of odd ticks and quirks.
my gf does drool, but not enough to make a mess of the whole place.
is this on like donkey kong? because when i suggested the trip she said "you dont have to twist my arm". and im motivated by you guys to actually do it.
we are of the mindset that if you are going to fly all the way to glastonbury, its not the time to start pinching pennies - camp kerela is obviously way overpriced, but the other options are viable when considering a split in cost.

I will probably just bring a therma rest inflatable pillow a small blanket and tyvek for a tarp. It is small enough to carry around in a backpack, and comfortable enough to sleep in where ever the mood strikes me. Plus it is waterproof, and can be made into a small tent with just a few wire coathangers. I doubt being hot will be my main problem there so I am not as worried about shade.
idio, I am definitely in for Glastonbury 2013, but I will be honest, my camping situation will have to be determined as time gets closer. I would love to say "Yes, I want to do this!" But my finances will have the final say-so; I may not be able to save enough for a fancy camping option.
Damn! Where is Sass?! She and I were great RooMates this year. I don't snore...can't stand when the covers get all tangled and don't kick or drool...LOL! And neither does Sass.
Indeed it is! It's about time the rest of us got to tag along on your globe-trotting adventures! Y'all have been to some wicked cool places together (still jealous about you seeing Live8 in London!), so this will be epic!!!
If my Irish luck prevails, I will still be single in 2yrs' time, so yeah...count me in on splitting some sorta sleeping arrangement w/somebody(-ies). And hell, I don't even care if you snore! We'll be at Glastonbury - you can have a deviated septum & sleep apnea for all I care! I just want to be there! ;D

The gates of Glastonbury officially opened about 6 hours ago, if anyone uses twitter people will be posting under #glasto. I met a few people at the #twisto meet up last year so I get to live vicariously through them this year.
Also, here are some pictures of people arriving to a muddy Glastonbury. Last year there was no mud, so it was easy to navigate the site. It would take so much more time to wander around if it was like this.
Quack it, I went ahead and registered. Still waiting to hear if they accepted it, but I can't imagine why they wouldn't. I have no idea where I'll be living or what I'll be doing two years down the road, but I've really been wanting to go to Glastonbury for years, and I don't need much convincing to take a European vacation.
I'm planning to save up $3-4,000 so I can also bum it around Europe for a couple weeks afterwards, hopping around on the Eurail and staying in hostels - I'm thinking London > Glastonbury > Amsterdam > Paris > Barcelona. Would also love to take the ferry across to Morocco once I'm in Spain, but we'll have to see if funds permit at that point; if not, I may have to find an Internet cafe so I can unload some extra organs on eBay.

Of course you're going! I'm buying you fried chicken, remember? It almost looks like you can cook fried chicken in that gypsy caravan!!
Several of us are planning to hang around Europe before/after Glasto. It looks like Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands are on my list at this point.
I'm also planning a jaunt to Paris while there, but I'd rather visit my ancestral soil in Ireland than go to Barcelona. Although...thru work I have connections in Spain, France, Italy & Germany. My department sends students on study abroad in June, so we will have many college students living in apartments. Maybe they can offer a sofa to crash on instead of staying in a hostel... and who wouldn't want to recover from Glasto on the tropical beaches of Mallorca?

Going to the Mediterranean after Glasto was epic. Paris to Barcelona is a pretty far trip though. We ended flying from London to Barcelona then I hit up the coast of the Mediterranean with Barcelona, Nice and Cinque Terre. then I took the overnight train from Milan to Paris.
Also the Eurail from Paris to London needs to be booked well in advance or it's pricey. Also round trip was supposedly cheaper than one way. I did not know that when I booked mine at over $200.
We still have so much time before any of this happens.

My best friend and I sat down yesterday and got rough ideas of how much money we're gonna need and its look pretty reasonable. We're going to stay in Europe for 2 weeks after Glastonbury.
I think we're going to rent a Geodome from Tangerine Fields at Glastonbury. They're cheaper than the tipis and they still come with most of the the same stuff.
Can't wait! Registration is done....passport is being renewed....plan on hitting up a major tour of Belgium after the fest. It's my fave place in Europe! Brussels is great but want to see Ghent, Antwerp and the coast!
