Total newb question regarding this festival. Do you have to camp or is it possible to do hotel, etc? I ask because next year I will be in Madrid for the year and plan on going to Glastonbury 2014. I wont have camping equipment like I would here. Any help or advice is appreciated. Thanks.
I can't answer this fully since I have yet to go, but from what I understand, the fest is sort of in the middle of nowhere. I think there is like one hotel in the town? So I would think camping is, if not the only, then it's the best option.
There are many companies that cater to folks who do not want to bring equipment. We are actually going to be purchasing our sleeping bags, lanterns, etc from a camping supply place onsite. There are also pre-erected offsite (non-official) camping options.
I'm more gutted that I may not be able to go... Mrs is preggo with #2, very unexpected... She's insisting that I go by myself, I'm hesitant.
Congratulations! Though I hate that you may not be able to go to Glasto. If you do decide to come sans-wife, you will have Druid and myself to hang out with!

I trust that when the Glastonbury lineup breaks, JHOinTN and I can count on all of you guys to pick it apart, tell us why it sucks/is awesome, and give us advice on whom to see.
Ok wait, you have raging hatred because of The Rolling Stones as a headliner? If that's the case, then really, your hatred is misdirected Cause that doesn't really excite me.

It has been ages since I have been on the boards, but I was told of the Glasto thread on the Inforoo FB page. I am going. I couldn't find anyone to go with me, but I am going regardless because, you know, why not, right?
Flights in and out of Heathrow are booked. So are my pre- and post-festival hotels (spending a week in London prior to the fest).
Also got the email today saying that international orders are to be paid next week. So that got me a bit more excited. Wooo!

Glad you found the thread! (I was the one that directed you here ). Druid and I will be there, as will handgunhipster and her significant other. Druid and I have made our arrangements as well. We should all plan to meet up at Glastonbury! We 'Muricans need to stick together

Absolutely! Also if anyone is hanging out in London the week before maybe a group pub trip should be in order.

We will be there almost a week before. So a pub trip is definitely in order. Hell, let's make it a pub crawl.
I'm JHOinTN's partner in crime on this trip by the way.
I could have sworn that Thom denied AFP but sorta confirmed Radiohead (or RHCP, I suppose).
I read somewhere that Thom said that parts of Radiohead will be involved in Glastonbury. To me that leads more to AFP than Radiohead... unless its all parts of Radiohead.

Hello! Its been a while since I've been on here and was with you guys last year at Roo.
I'm a Glastonbury regular and happy to help answer any of your questions if I can.
Regarding one question that I saw on here about getting a hotel instead of camping, like somebody else said on here, it can be done but there is so much going on at night that it would probably not be worth its while. Also getting on and off site can be bit of a trek at times.
on the rumour mill at the moment -
It was revealed at the weekend that the Arctic Monkeys are the Friday night head-liner
The Rolling Stones, so we should know that one by the middle of March (apparently it all depends on the outcome of the HardRock Calling gigs in London on the same weekend)

I could have sworn it was the opposite - that he said parts of AFP would be at Glastonbury.

Awesome! Glad there is another Inforooster going to Glasto!
I would like to know more about the camping situation. I understand the basics but I've seen few pictures that show what campsites look like. What camping supplies do we need that we may not have thought of? Remember, we're Roo veterans! BUT- we are limited to what we can bring on the plane.
