HOLY HELL! Soo good. I may even dare to say its better than For Emma, Forever Ago which is one of my all time favorite albums. His vocals are as beautifully haunting as ever but the music has taken a sharp turn into experimental territory, which I personally am in love with.
Gave it one full listen. Definitely see it growing on me, but there's just so much to digest there that right now it's landed on good. I'm sure once I listen to it a couple more times and the density sinks in, I'll love it. It's very beautiful.

i was literally just thinking this yesterday. I too have only listened to it a little so far, but I'm sure the more I listen the more I'll be in love. The perfect soundtrack on a rainy afternoon in late May.
Jesus, I keep forgetting about this... If it's half as good as For Emma, I'll love it. Will listen to it later tonight, when the time is right.
It's easily half as good. Just starting my third listen and I'm agreeing with Nod and candyflippedaround. It might even be better.
Beth/ Rest has something so strangely nostalgic about it but I can't think of what it is. Also, this track sticks out to me as being the closest to him and Kanye's work together. Am I the only one hearing that?

I don't know guys, it's really good, but there's no way I can call it better than For Emma. Skinny Love is the first song I heard from him and I was just fucking floored listening to it for the first time. Then I listened to the whole album and it ended up not even being my favorite from it.
With the disclaimer that I've only listened to the new one about 5ish times, I'd say For Emma= A and new one = B+. I'm sure I'll like it even more as I listen more, though.
Definitely digging it... listened twice, so far. I don't quite think it's as good as For Emma, just yet at least... maybe after a little while. But as is, solid sophomore effort. Easily in the ***3/4 - ****1/4 range, for me.
For some weird reason, I am an emotional basketcase this morning, and this song hit me HARD. I don't even like Bon Iver so much! But it's a beautiful song no matter who sings it.

After my recent break-up with my long-time gf, I can't even listen to For Emma anymore. It's like torture. This new one has a lot of emotion to it, but I can actually listen to the whole thing without breaking down. It's a pretty amazing album.

Can you listen to this song though?! Holy crap, it makes me want to cry even when I'm in a good mood.
^^It doesn't have the emotional pull for me that a lot of his other stuff does.
Ok... I guess I can see that. I'm a lyrical content person myself, and I honestly think that song is one of the most beautifully written songs I've ever heard. And I'm not a Bonnie Raitt fan... but holy shit.
I'm going to listen to it and cry for a little while now.
