Looked around a bit and couldn't find a better place to put this, so here goes...and blah, please excuse my awful formatting on the links! I'm not used to ProBoards...
A couple of us folks on the MMJ board decided to throw together a little shindig/benefit/fundraiser before the Chicago Auditorium Theatre show. It started out small, and then the band got on board and donated some pretty sweet autographed merch! So if you're going to be in town, please swing by [a href="Kasey's Tavern"]Kasey's Tavern
[/a]http://www.yelp.com/biz/kaseys-tavern-chicago to hang with fellow fans and throw a couple bucks toward a good cause! Mercy Home is the charity that the band has designated to receive a portion of their ticket sales from this show - and they can definitely use all the help we can provide. A little bit about them...
Mercy Home for Boys & Girls has been a solution for kids in crisis since 1887. Through residential, aftercare, and mentoring programs, they provide a safe home, a good education and access to opportunity to more than 600 young people each year. You can help throughout the year by referring a child in crisis, mentoring a child, or investing in a child’s future.

Just got back from the Pantages show... Absolutely amazingly transcendent. Got "The Bear" and "Carried Away" (solo Carl tune) + "Mahgeeta" closer. So happy right now.
That was GA pit. There was no option for lawn, so I'm guessing once pit fills up then lawn will be available. Or maybe lawn is reserved for the public on sale? The only other option was reserved seating for 25 cents less ???
I got 2 tix to this show - in the pit. Trust me, it's THE BEST POSSIBLE SCENARIO!
When I saw Arcade Fire there last August, we were literally underneath Win Butler. He dripped his sweat onto me and Mayo - then reached down and touched our outstretched hands while he performed. We were 1 person back from the rail right in the center of the stage.
That venue is ideal for seeing shows up close & personal, so I didn't bat an eye at $52 tickets. It's soooo worth it!
So...who wants to meet up for dinner/drinks before the show???

Man, I wish I would have known about this before! I would have totally stopped by. I went to Miller's before instead.[/quote]
We may end up doing another benefit when they come back to town for Lolla - if we do, I'll post the info here. The charity and the band were very appreciative of our efforts, so stay tuned for more!

Funny you should ask...I literally just got the final numbers in from the charity, and we raised a little over $1100. Not bad, considering that's just the tally from our little bar gathering...equal to about a quarter of the band's total donation from all their ticket proceeds for the show ($1/ticket for a 4000 seat theater). I'm pretty proud of what we were able to accomplish, folks were really generous!

This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.
