My question seems to have been ignored. Is there anything more to getting into a comedy show than waiting in line? Someone was explaining something to me about getting tickets last year when I was waiting for Conan but it was way too early in the morning after a long night for me to even hear what he was explaining.
I didn't go last year but someone said it was similar. The last year I went (2009) they did this:
You go to the comedy tent and pick up a pass for the upcoming show. IF you want to see the show at 4:00 then you can pick up a pass immediately after they start whatever show is before it.
You pick up a pass and can either sit in line and wait a while until the show you want starts (some people do this if they want to be front row and stuff) or you can walk around, see shows, and come back right before the comedy show you want starts and be guaranteed a spot because of the pass you have.
I'm hoping they do this again. It was much better then the past when they just had an immensely long line that you'd sit in the heat for an hour or two not even knowing if you'd definitely be able to get in

Other than Lewis Black, John Waters, Ralphie May, & Cheech, I don't know any of these comics. I'm behind on the new comics on the scene. I need to get researching.
do comedians run throughout the day or how does that work, i would hate to have to choose between a band & comedian, there would be to many variables for my brain to compute.. i feel that will be a distinct possibility tho
Okay here's the deal with the comedy tent. Unless they go back to 2008 ala Chris Rock, there will not be a main stage comedy performance but instead everyone will be performing in the comedy tent.
When the schedule comes out the comedy tent schedule will be just like all of the other stages. Some comics (or groups of comics) will do more than one show, for example The Daily Show All Stars did at least two shows and it might have been more than that, I don't remember.
Also read the schedule carefully because sometimes one comic will be in two or three different shows with a different mix of comedians. A couple of years ago they had the Comedy Carnevale or something like it and there were 5 acts but I think they rotated so that only 4 were in each show.
If you have someone you MUST see then you need to go to the comedy early on the day of their show and find out when tickets will be given out. They are free but you need to get them. I seem to remember that with the exception of Conan you could get most of them HOURS before the show and then just show back up later for the performance. Last year they put some kind of limit on the tickets, I think one or two per person (again don't quote me) which was kind of a pain in the ass but what are you gonna do.
If it turns out that you do not want/need your ticket give it to someone or bring it back to the comedy tent. If you don't have a ticket you're not getting in.
A seat and air conditioning should make trying this during the heat of the day a tempting proposition.
Anybody know if the movie tent works the same way.

Wow, if Donald Glover is in the comedy tent, he would be the first comedian to ever tempt me to go in there
His summer tour is of music venues with Childish Gambino opening, probably a good bet Bonnaroo will get the same thing. I think they should give him the Other Tent.
2/26 Ra Ra Riot
3/12 Animal Collective & Dan Deacon
4/11 Weird Al
4/18 The Fritz
4/20 Snarky Puppy
4/24 Les Claypool's Duo De Twang
4/26 Beats Antique (Volapalooza)
5/7 Boris
5/13 Father John Misty w/ Adam Green & Binki Shapiro
5/17-5/19 Hangout Fest
6/6 Postal Service (looking for a pit ticket - PM me!)
6/7 Postal Service (pit)
6/8 Postal Service (pit)
6/13-6/16 Bonnaroo
6/27 Lake Street Drive
10/25-10/27 MOEMS
I'm sure you're not the only one who finds it unfunny, but The League cracks me up each time i watch it. Jon Lajoie def makes the show great. His "Everyday Normal Guy" and "Show Me Your Genitals" music vids are hilarious

The summer tour of music venues gives him at least an hour and a half of stage time. At Bonnaroo he will most likely get 30 minutes. More if he is very lucky. I'm still hoping for Childish Gambino but I wouldn't bet on it. Maybe he'll do just a few songs and then a little standup.
Am I the only one who finds The League extremely un-funny? I wish we got Jon Lajoie solo instead....his stuff is hilarious.
Well you're in luck. The 4 guys won't be on the stage at once. They each take a turn doing standup I believe. So Jon Lajoie will do his solo stuff and play some songs.

I watched the first episode on Netflix...I wouldn't say I find it un-funny. There were a few really funny moments. I'm just not sure I can get behind the concept of it and I don't particularly like the cast. Granted, that was only one episode...but it didn't make me feel the need to check out more of it.

the first i had ever hear of Jon Lajoie was at roo i think in 09, everyday normal guy was the song playing before a band came on.

I thought the whole first season of The League was just kinda ok and almost gave up on it, but the second season was quite hilarious.

They got more confident and also got to know each other a little more so their chemistry has been better. I like it.
I love The League, don't get to watch it too much because all my roommates hate it, but I'll be catching up with it once it comes on Netflix instant.
and thanks for clearing the ticket thing up, ITM. I thought that that is how I'd heard the kid explain it to me, but as I said, I was so sore/hot/tired that I was barely listening.
I'd say it's possible, but only because he's a roo vet. He would be a great What MC now that I think about it... his observations on the heat alone already have me laughing just picturing him on the stage ranting about how it is "WAAAAYYYYYY TOO quacking HOT HERE"
