Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Plant isnt headliner material either.....He wasnt when he was with Kraus and still isnt. This isnt a ZEP reunion and there are 100 other people I would rather see in front of him.
Someone mentioned that there is a classic artist still missing and I feel the same. The insider lineup is BS if you ask me.
Being a Pre-Headliner isn't that big of a deal... what are you more excited to see, pre-headliner shows or LN tent shows? LN tent artists get billed super low but are arguably the best part about going to roo. I feel like people are all up in arms about these headliners just as much as last year when the headliners (save Stevie) were FAR inferior.
As much as I was initially upset with the leaks, i'm going to have to agree. Lets put things in perspective:
1. Arcade Fire is (most likely) taking KOL's spot from last year. I'm cool with that.
2. MMJ is most likely (unless they create a late night What for Friday) taking Tenacious D's spot. Definitely an upgrade IMO.
3. WSP i'm not thrilled at all about but to be honest Sunday doesn't really matter too much to me anyways. I was so out of it by Sunday last year that it was a chore for me to make it to Dave, and I didn't even really enjoy it.
Saturday is where it's at. And Saturday is what we know little to nothing about. Not to mention I have a strong feeling the undercard is going to blow us away. We still don't even know who is going to take the FLips late night Which slot (maybe Black Star/Massive Attack/Big Boi?)...so i'm not going to get upset just yet.
Keep in mind that I am only referring to 'headliners' here, which I'll define as the 2 'prime time' spots each on Fri, Sat and Sun (6 acts) - so, just because I may say no to someone who guesses a particular act doesn't mena they may not end up on a late-night or daytime stage.....
I am considering headliners to be 2 Fri, 2 Sat, 2 Sun
What insider has told us is the acts that will be closing the What (or possibly Which?) stages, up to and including headliners. Insider made it clear that none of the names mentioned will be playing late night. Let's consider those slots entirely up for grabs.
But still....people are arguing over and analyzing every little thing she has said and creating their own interpretations of it.
To me, it's simple - she said she would give us 6 prime time bands and she's given us 5. No need to argue over whether she meant headliner but said pre-headliner or meant the What stage (even though she didn't state that).
I'm just looking at from the standpoint that I can't see the Black Keys in either Stevie's or Jay Z's spot. I'm thinking they are the Dead Weather this year. Maybe I'm wrong.
She gave us 5 acts that will be playing roo. But Insider never said she was gonna give us the top 6 acts on the bill. Just that these five acts will be there. So there is still plenty debate of what the top 6 could look like. And I don't see the Black Keys in the top 6. Again. maybe I'm wrong.

I think you're right about Black Keys being in the Dead Weather spot, and DW was 9th on the bill including Conan, so yeah Black Keys could be anywhere from 6-9 I'd say.

I missed when she said no late night acts. So MMJ is out for late night. No chance of a Beasties/Byrne split with AF/MMJ?
Edit: So that means Friday late night and Saturday late night are still up for grabs but I think Massive Attack takes one if they're on the bill. Not a tent.

I cant see it either. Look at Hangout Music Festival. They're placing the Black Keys alongside Flips and BELOW WSP. Granted, MMJ is alongside Flips/Black Keys as well but I just don't see it happening. Flips played late night Which on Friday last year...
I could see MMJ in the Tenacious D/Flips slot, and I could see Black Keys in the Weezer/Dead Weather spot.
Just because she was planning on only giving us the 2 big artists per night doesn't mean she couldn't have just thrown us a bone with The Black Keys...I still think we have two big acts on Saturday to hear about.

Friday: Arcade Fire (PHL) --> My Morning Jacket (HL) --> ??? (LN) I think it will be like PJ / JJ. I see Arcade Fire playing something like 7-9:15, and MMJ playing 10-til
Saturday: The Black Keys (PHL) --> ??? (HL) ---> ??? (LN)
Sunday: Plant and Joy (PHL) --> Panic (HL)
For the question marks, I would be totally happy with Gorillaz, Massive Attack, and STS9
If that came true, I would want to see all the acts listed except Panic.
IMO, this would be an awesome lineup, maybe not the Pearl Jam / Radiohead / Daft Punk / Neil Young / Iron Maiden lineup of my dreams, but definitely awesome
Dr. Dre + Snoop Dogg sounds like a realistic hiphop headliner to me. They have that Kush song out right now and Snoop killed What Stage back in '09. Imagine them performing The Next Episode together...that would be wild!

I bet Insider is having a great laugh at how, after all the bands dropped, everyone is arguing (me included sadly) what time slot and whether Black Keys is one of the 6 or not....man I can't wait until the lineup is dropped so this madness can stop.

Not sure if this is the spot for this comment, but I thought of it while reading this thread, so here goes:
Did I miss a meeting on how big Arcade Fire is? I understand they are only taking the spot of KOL from last year, but at least I had heard (and hated) a song by KOL. As a matter of fact, it was such a popular song, it was on the muzak in the family restaurant I was working for last year, so I hated it even more because it was constantly playing. (I definitely had a ham sandwich last year, and I don't like ham sandwiches.) The only reason I have heard ANY of Arcade Fire's music is because they generated such a buzz on this website about being on the lineup, I googled and listened to a couple minutes of one of their songs. (not impressed) I guess this is a long way of saying "how can they be qualified to play the slot that has been taken by Tool and Metallica in the past?" Those bands have a huge following, and now a band that I as a music lover has never even heard music by??? Maybe I'm just that old that I am out of touch. Can anyone help clarify this? Preferrably without flaming me, which seems to be standard issue around here for a lot of posters on this board.
Also, I asked an "expert" to help with the "big rap/hip hop act" that is supposedly headlining the entire festival...my 13 year old stepdaughter. She says the biggest "rappers" in the world right now are...and I quote: (in order)
Eminem Lil Wayne (no go) Nicki Minaj (really?) Drake I asked her where Kanye and Jay Z fall because I was surprised by this list and she said Jay Z is probably 5th or 6th and Kanye is not on the list, because "no one listens to Kanye" Obviously, take this for what it's worth, but I thought it was interesting, if not hilarious.
11/2/19: Tool 5/17/19: Blues Traveler 5/9/19: Tool 11/10/18: Tenacious D 9/20/18: White Denim 7/23/18: Radiohead 6/4/18: Jack White 5/20/18: Tool 5/18/18: A Perfect Circle 5/18/18: Alice in Chains 5/6/18: Blind Melon

Kanye is actually pretty big right now. His "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" has gained critical acclaim recognition worldwide but I don't think Bonnaroo would book him again. Nicki Minaj is really big right now too but she is not headlining material and I doubt her presence on the farm as well. Jay-Z is an icon but was on the farm last year. The only possible two I can think of that are capable of headlining the What stage are Em (Yes!) and Lil Wayne (dear god please no). I don't count Black Eyed Peas as "rap".
Lil' Wayne, Kanye, Jay-Z, Eminem and Dr. Dre are probably all on the same level in terms of popularity or draw, with some variances (I'd say Wayne is more popular with the younger crowd, and Dre with the older crowd, Kanye with music critics, etc.). Those are really the only 5 that could ever headline a festival, though. Gorillaz if you count them as rap. Drake and Nicki are huge right now but don't really have a following.

If it is Lil Wayne who fills this hip-hop slot we can expect a surprise appearance from Nicki Minaj during various hip-hop sets at Bonnaroo including his. She is touring with him. She is actually really good on guest appearances (Kanyes "Monster" and Her song with Em "romans revenge") but her own solo stuff is terrible.

I think this is pretty clear: Black keys are #6. Theyre taking the dead weather spot. Hip hop headliner takes the stevie spot. And there IS no Jay-Z spot. We're probably looking at 2 late night which acts this year for fri and sat.
Why is it so hard to believe? Black keys blew up this year. I think they're arguably as popular as MMJ
These are our headliners & preheadliners folks. Let's get past the denial, learn to accept it, and be greatful for it.
Black Keys & massive attack are already enough to sell me on the lineup. Add in big boi and blackstar, coupled MMJ/AF fri, this is already sounding exponentially better than last year. There will be plenty of money left over for a strong undercard + epic latenights

Arcade Fire have been getting steadily bigger and bigger over the past 6 years or so. They have played 2 amazing shows at Coachella and they headlined last year's Lollapalooza. People on this board have been wishing they would play Bonnaroo for a long time now. I'm really amazed that you've never heard of them.
If you want to get into them, I would recommend listening to Funeral first, as that's their most popular album.
