All this talk about headliners falling through does not make any sense. Ashley did an interview last year about the disappointment of the headliners for 2010 and talked about how these things are 2 - 3 years in the planning and by the time that year comes around things are pretty much already set. I find it hard to believe that these are the headliners. There is going to be at least on surprise. Somebody really big. Either that or a big disappointment.

I'd say there's different levels of negotiation. There'd be the initial phase of seeing if the group had any interest in playing which they'd be able to do a while in advance. Things get more serious when actual dates and money get talked about. This would happen closer to the date. In example, the major stumbling block that people have pointed out for Radiohead this year would be if their album was finished which is not something they knew until recently. Second, Daft Punk partially got left out because they don't have a live set-up for a tour currently.

If these bands are real, this is a load of shit. Wanee, Wakarusa, Hangout, and even Mountain Jam have similar if not better lineups. There is no way A/C is going to punk out with such a bunch of crap for the 10th year.

What I find it hard to believe is that they are still in negotiations for their biggest name less than 2 weeks or so before a lineup is going to be put out there. What are they going to do if negotiations fail? I seriously doubt a multi million dollar undertaking like Bonnaroo is running this close to the wire on booking acts.
She does not consider the Black Keys a headliner. She was very clear to say The Black Keys are one of six what she considers to be "prime time" acts. She even said they were a pre-headliner, not a headliner.

I don't know Jess, Insider seems quietly confident. She's not selling her story and doesn't seem to have anything to prove. I get that people want to be in denial for different reasons based on your own musical tastes but she seems just as legit this year as any previous.

Ok then she is implying they are in out top six whic still proves my point. Do you really think they will be listed higher at Bonnaroo than the Hangout?
et's count out a few headliners....
Keep in mind that I am only referring to 'headliners' here, which I'll define as the 2 'prime time' spots each on Fri, Sat and Sun (6 acts) - so, just because I may say no to someone who guesses a particular act doesn't mena they may not end up on a late-night or daytime stage.....

Actually she came off that way last year if you go and read all her posts. This year it seems different, but hey I could be wrong just a lot of crap is not adding up.
Its totally possible that someone at Superfly identified insider, and gave her bogus info, but I think what we are seeing is what we get
It is hard to say but honestly my BS detector has been going off since she started posting again.
1 They tried and failed to book Radiohead, Furthur, Prince, Phish etc...
You can miss one, but not everything you were shooting for
2. Considers the Black Keys as a headliner
3 the aforementioned statement that they are still negotiating with someone this close to the drop date.
So who knows it could be something else she did for dissemination setting it off but my alarm is ringing.
#3 is the one that got me thinking...last year we had the lineup Feb.9th, you mean to tell me that they are still in negotiations with the top Saturday night headliner? What if it falls through now?

Exactly. You proved my point. Headliners is in quotes for a reason, that reason being that instead of giving us just the three names at the top of the bill, she's giving us the six prime-time acts. Do you really think there are six headliners? Plus, she CALLED them a "PRE-headliner." And Robert Plant, too: he's not a headliner on Sunday, he's a PRE-headliner for WSP.

Yeah that was the thing that has been bugging me since she started posting.

By my own personal standards, there are 4 headlining acts. In 2009, it was Phish twice, bruce, and the beasties. In 2010, it was the Kings, Dave, Stevie, and Jay Z.
As far as this year's lineup goes, I see Arcade taking the Kings slot, and Widespread taking Dave's slot. But now Bonnaroo needs to deliver something that can somehow live up to last year's Stevie Wonder into Jay Z saturday night main stage. It's the tenth year. The saturday night headliner(s) need to be a huge spectacle. I love Bonnaroo and I will be going regardless, but I think they need to pull off something pretty huge here if the Bonnaroo mystique hopes to continue. Prince could be that act. Bowie could be that act. Radiohead, etc... When this lineup drops, I am pretty sure we will get something of the sort, because AC has been getting ready for this for long ass time.

Why have we not been given any indication of when the line-up is coming out either. They must have an amazing lineup to let every other festival in the country trump them with great line ups announced early and take the chance of people buying up tickets to other stuff. I really think they must have got some crazy shit planned that they don't care about when they announce b/c they will sell all the tickets they need.
Black Keys are 2ed name on Coachella's Friday. No reason they can't be a pre-headliner at Bonnaroo. Kinda sucks that they would be it though, after being at Bonnaroo just last year. Hoping the 6 listed so far isn't accurate.
I don't find it at all surprising that they couldn't get Prince and/or Radiohead for this year's festival. Prince has always done his own thing and I don't think it's unimaginable that the negotiating and contract process was just too tough a needle to thread. Meanwhile, Radiohead has no current tour plans and is wrapping up recording an album. That they wouldn't commit to a one-off in the US isn't shocking, especially because they know that they are in total control over when they play and where.
As far as Furthur goes, she said that they were booked and then cancelled in the recent past. This explains why they are still negotiating with a headliner and why we not only don't have a line up yet but why we don't even have a line up release date.
Don't care what THEY call The Black Keys. I call them amazing.
Last year JBT was added after the initial line up was announced. They were awesome. Already got my tix this year. Just patiently waiting for the O-fficial annoncement and amusingly reading the posts.

Wasn't insider's Kings of Leon leak met with this same kind of stuff last year? IE: "They're not my idea of a headliner, so it's not true"
There was definitely an element of denial even in the face of AC saying that they had a headliner that wasn't around ten years ago.
Also, many if not most of us thought that Stevie would be a preheadliner and could not pull of a headlining spot. (I think we can all pretty much agree that he nailed it.)
