2004: Dave from Hackensaw Boys. (a bluegrass band who played in 03 and 04) He asked where to find Doc Watson. - I later got to meet the rest of the Hackensaw Boys where I live now, because they played a show here, and I introduced myself since we are all from Charlottesville, VA. They dedicated a song to me, had me backstage, shared some beers and chicken wings with me, then I smoked with them on their tour-bus. Then they invited me to ride with them to All Good the next day, the year WEEN and Les Claypool were playing. Still kicking myself for not going with them...
quackin' love The Hackensaw Boys! Only seen 'em once (openin' fer The Black Crowes at the Hammerstein in '05) but they blew my mind. Totally opened me to bluegrass that night. So sad I missed them recently up at the 9:30 Club with Railroad Earth, but I've been BROKE. Awesome story though! CoCo!
Yeah- it was surreal. I have seen them about fifteen times, and who knew I'd end up meeting them in Rochester, NY of all places... You'd think since we all lived in Charlottesville at the same time, it would happen there. Either way it was awesome, they are all really nice guys.
"Music has always been a matter of energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it Inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel. I have always needed Fuel. I am a serious consumer. On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio." -Hunter S. Thompson
'Roo 2010. Was headed back to the campsite Sunday night and bumped into Jeffrey Ross at the Which Stage. He was clearly exhausted from the heat (or maybe stoned... or both), but he was very cool. Nicer than I would've thought, even took a picture.

Last year I was waiting for my girlfriend at the porta potties and Margaret Cho was running around and dancing and stuff. Real odd and my girlfriend's face when she comes out of the porta pottie and Margaret Cho is staring her in the face was priceless.
I saw the singer of Circa Survive (Andrew or Anthony something, cant quite remember his name) and John from Baroness on the side of the stage for The Bakerton Group

I really only met Margaret Cho and Stefan Lessard last year, but back in the media area you see a lot of people. Wayne Coyne, Avett Bros, Dr. Dog...man I can't even remember but it was like artist after artist every few minutes. The best was probably when Miranda Lambert's dress blew up from the wind and I saw her green panties. They were ugly as crap but she's got some nice legs and bottom, however her music is garbage. I watched a lot of sets inside the tents by the stage and came like a foot away from Jack Black, David Rawlings, Kris Kristofferson, Steve Martin and pretty much every band that played in That Tent on Thursday night. What I remember from 2009 was watching Chairlift while standing next to Janelle Monae, watching Bela Fleck next to Mike Gordon and seeing MMJ's drummer walk by. They weren't on the bill that year but he was down there as a fan.
I met the Flight of the Concords in 2007, but before they were famous. Jermaine came up to me and my friend with a microphone and red booty shorts. He asked us a couple of questions on camera, and then moved on. We both had no idea who they were at the time. Cut to a year later, and its my favorite show. Also, not really famous, but I've met Kyle Hollingsworth (String Cheese Incident) and North Mississippi Allstars. To me though thats like meeting Michael Jordan.
This doesn't count as meeting him, but i patted Conan on the back when he marched through the crowd at the end of his Saturday Comedy Tent show. I probably will never be so happy to touch a sweaty man's back. When I got home I told everyone that I touched a red-headed angel
In 2008 I was buying some (fake) corn, and there were a few other customers there who were wearing artist passes. They were from Dead Confederate; unfortunately I only got into their music after I had met them, so it didn't mean as much to me at the time.
In 2009 I was in the staff only area behind the Which Stage one afternoon and I got to watch Phoenix being interviewed 15 feet away from me. There was hardly anybody else there. I was going to stick around to meet them after the interview was over, but after 15 minutes of waiting, I decided live music was more important.
Also last year during the world cup telecast Jeffrey Ross was standing in front of me for a little while. Once I noticed I turned to my friend and said "that's Jeffrey Ross." Then he turned around and said hi. And then my friend said "who's Jeffrey Ross?!" then he got offended and walked away. lol.
Saw Jeffrey Ross too... I was right next to him during Tenacious D... Said hi, then my wife and I enjoyed the show...

I met Country Winston from Mumford and Sons last year while I was leaving the Weezer set. He was super, super nice.
There was also Tomer Yosef from Balkan Beat Box
We met Lewis Black, sort of, in 06. He was signing stuff after his set so I don't know if that counts as meeting him. My friends met Patton Oswalt that same year and said he was exceptionally friendly
And of course there was a Zach Galifianakis sighting during Broken Social Scene in 08.
working medical will let you into a number of places, me and my partner decided that a bathroom break was in order and we were assigned to the Rise Against show last year, he went into one porta john, while i waited for the other one to open, being back stage, they were reserved for vips and artist, little did i know that when that door opened i would see Zach step out of it, It didn't sink in with me until i was at the stage and saw him playing that i realized who it was, one of the greater moments, that and jack black being a few feet away or being able to stand next to the speaker stack when rivers cuomo decided to step on them, all i could do was whip out my phone and take video of it, apparently on the roo site under the pictures they have 3 of them with me taking said video's.
