While I can still see all the bands that mattered most to me, the schedule conflicts make it impossible to see ALOT of bands that I was really looking forward to seeing... like atmosphere (missing for beginning of MMJ), Pretty Lights(also v.s. MMJ), Bloody Beetroots (missing for Kills), and Ratatat (missing for Muse) Sleigh Bells was on that list too til they cancelled.
Aftershows are announced next wed. Really hoping that either some of these bands or their conflicts are going to be playing

Conflicts definitely suck. Especially for the last slot on each night. I'll probably do MMJ for 45 min. then head to Pretty Lights since I missed them at Roo. Woohoooo! Can't wait for the ridiculous amounts of dancing I'll be doing in these three days ;D
Honestly, as much as I would hate to miss MMJ I would almost skip the end of them for pretty lights. I'm huge into him right now and his set at roo looked epic. The only thing keeping me from doing so is knowing that I'll get to see him at ID fest later that month. Really hoping he does an afterparty anyways though.

Why couldn't pretty lights/skrillex and atmosphere be on different nights? That would've cleared up both of my worst conflicts
This is a tough one because I know I SHOULD see atmosphere, as I've seen pretty lights and skrillex multiple times. But I know my friend I'm going with is going to Pretty Lights/Skrillex no question- and I have been totally obsessed with Pretty Lights lately...
Think I'm gonna grab tix to the Crystal Castles show and try for Pretty Lights/Skrillex, but that is going to sell out pretty quickly. If I get shut out of that one, I may end up at the MID or at the Double Door since it's around the corner from my apartment.
And ALSO.. why no sunday aftershows? Anyone from out of town ends up staying sun night anyways right?
This is a little strange. I believe the last couple years they've had 2-3 aftershows on Sunday. Also, no aftershow at The Metro on Saturday seems a little curious to me.

I'd think they'll add some Sunday shows. Hoping for EITS or Cudi. Probably gonna hit up PL on Friday night, but might check out Lykke Li/Foster the People. I too have been obsessed with Pretty Lights lately, that Roo set was my favorite of the weekend. I've seen him tons of times, but for my money, I'd probably see Derrik spin every day...
Don't hate the messenger I'm just reflecting what I've seen discussed on lolla boards and elsewhere. I'm going for PL Fri and if it sells out I'll do Atmosphere.
Still deciding which, if any, sat show I want to do... Wouldn't mind seeing Arctic monkeys but I'll be seeing em anyways at lolla (no conflicts for them) and 2 months after at langerado so I don't know if it's worth it... I'd see MSTKRFT but last time I saw them at ultra they were pretty boring. Might do daedelus just because it'll probably be cheap and won't sell out right away. I can take some time to give it some thought. I also need to check out Titus andronicus a little more, I hear they're amazing live but I've yet to give them a chance.
i know, i know. its not your fault. but STILL. i just spent monies on mcs tickets in nyc. i would like to not have no monies in my account but... tickets go on sale in 3 days. gahhhh such is life.
i really want to see pretty lights. really. Quack it. if it isnt sold out i'll get tickets.

I dont think Pretty Lights will sell out in MINUTES.
Thats the biggest venue in Chicago that isn't an arena. The Congress sells out from time to time, and Pretty Lights sells out his New Years show there each year...but thats New Years and it definitely doesnt sell out THAT quickly.
This isn't like when Them Crooked Vultures announced their first performance at the 800 person capacity Metro as the closing afterparty to Lollapalooza and tickets sold out in literally 3 minutes. Its Pretty Lights, who plays Chicago a few times a year already, booked in a 4000 person auditorium.
That shiz will definitely sell out within a matter of days or weeks so I wouldn't sleep on the opportunity...but minutes? I think the only one of these shows selling out in minutes would be DFA79 or Crystal Castles which are both at much smaller venues.

I think PL will sell out within an hour. Between the scalpers and stuff it isn't going to last. I'm sitting at the computer at 10am with the refresh button just to be safe. Mostly because I arrived to his set late at roo and was swarmed by the sixteen year old Molly Army.
I still don't get the hype about DFA, I've listened to some of their stuff on the lolla website, just don't dig it. MSTRKRFT is much better, but I agree that they are pretty boring live. Saw their after show from Lolla two years ago, other than the venue being INCREDIBLY quacking hot, there wasn't much more to remember.

This is totally true. I think they'll all go quick. Too many people are like me and just want to hit an aftershow now. Either way I'm not taking any calls or meetings between 950 and 1010. Not until I get my DFA tix.
Quack Quack Quack i forgot this was tomorrow morning. shiit. goddangit. now i have to call her and see if she can be at a computer at that time because there is now way i can be. man.
either that or cross my fingers that there is still some stuff available by the time i get back in to the office. stupid friday and stupid appointments with stupid people who want to give me stupid money to spend at stupid shows on stupid beer and stuff grrr
Really wanted to do pretty lights but after some thought it doesn't make sense. I just saw him in March and I'm seeing him again at Identity less than 3 weeks after lolla. And seeing atmosphere frees up my schedule to catch some of Glitch mob and not need to miss any of MMJ.

I got on exactly at 10 and scored DFA but was shut out of Lykke Li at 1002. So, I jumped over to Black Lips at the Empty Bottle. Great venue. It'll be fun, but I was hoping for a different second show.

So I'm trying to decide if it's worth it for my friend and I to go to the PL after show since we'll have to make the last train back to where we're staying. It says that starts at 10, yet Pretty Lights is closing Lolla the same night.. so how will that work. Will Skrillex open and start at 10 or will it not actually get going til more like 10:30-11. Also, how long do the after shows usually last? If it's an all-night kind of ordeal maybe we'll just catch the first train in the morning.
