Maybe now. Young Jack Nicholson was awesome. Cuckoo's Nest, The Shining, Easy Rider, Batman.....hell yea.
I just watched the original 2 Batmans the other day. They're both really good. Christopher Walken owns #2.
Yea, they're a bit campy and silly at this point with that Burton style but overall they're good stuff. Nicholson's joker was eating up the scenery in a fantastic way. Not completely ridiculous like the movies that came after it. And yea...Walken as Max Schreck was awesome.
There is not a single Talking Heads cover that is better than the original (not including David Byrne/St. Vincent)
This is probably true, however!
My old Roo buddy used to host DIY garage rock / punk shows in his basement about once a month. One Halloween, he got a bunch of bands to do cover sets of post-punk bands. Hands down, the best cover band I have ever seen was that night's Talking Heads cover band (more accurately, a normal band doing Talking Heads covers). The whole band was tight, but the lead singer sounded exactly like David Byrne - I'm talking pitch-perfect. I so wish I could remember their name, but it really felt like I was seeing them in CBGB circa 1976.
