Kanyes blames & trashes AC & Bonnaroo and they are gonna bring him back to headline?, I would lose a little respect for AC if he brought him back. I would let Kanye Sucks live forever @ Bonnaroo and than bring him back for the 25th anniversary to play the sonic stage
Maybe my math is wrong but according to archive he played for over 3 hours with no setbreak. This actually makes it the longest Phil show I have ever heard of. I really wish people would stop acting like he got off the stage early.

So let me get this straight. People who don't care or don't know about the 08 fiasco will just magically be won over by the hype of a Kanye's redemption because....what, they care about a storyline that only music media bloggers will give two craps about?
You can't have it both ways. Either it's a bad idea because of the negative hype or it's a good idea because Kanye is a popular draw. But it's not especially unique or special because Coachella's already booked him.
It's a good idea all the way around. Especially if he brings Hov.
Maybe, but let's not pretend that the 08 thing is a positive in the whole thing. If you book Kanye, you're booking him based on his draw not some storyline.

he was scheduled for 4. maybe he never intended to play that long in the first place. but the rumor was that they asked him to cut it short for kanye.
Check my addendum, he actually mentions Kanye starting as a reason he was ending. That being said I do not remember him being scheduled for 4 hours originally, that would have been the longest 1 set I have ever heard of Phil playing. If he was going to do a setbreak for 30-45 minutes in the middle of two sets the amount of time playing would have been about the same as what we got. He only played for two hours headlining AllGood later that summer.

i wasn't even there. the only reason i believe the rumor is none of the dead have been back since then. just coincidence or not? no one knows.
I always felt like the plan was to give the members of the Dead a year or two off (since they had been there practically every year since the beginning) and then bring them back to headline (either as Furthur or The Dead) the 10th anniversary.
If Insider is right and they tried to get Furthur for Sunday night headliner then maybe that was the plan but it didn't work out?

I remember Vedder saying right before they did Watchtower "the festival heads just said now is about the time to take the brown....so your all set in time for the Kanye light show" (or something like that)...man, you were 4 plus hours into your trip if you listened to Ed when K.W came on.

Kind of odd the Allmans never came back after pulling out in 08

My "source" *who no one listens and I don't care but I'll say it anyway....
Said AC was talking to Gregg about an ABB set but she wasn't sure how it panned out in the end. She also said Warren is on the farm and that ABB made a lot of sense and she believes that is what is happening.
Thanks, when I saw Greg Allman on the bill I wondered about the ABB, would be great if your source is right.

Kanye has done so many outrageous things that him showing up late to Roo doesn't even hit the radar anymore. People don't remember that. It's tame.
Compared to saying on national TV that Bush doesn't care about Black people and his constant running up on stage at awards shows (specifically Taylor Swift incident) - coming out a few hours late isn't that big of a deal to most people.
1) Why does everyone continue to list AF above MMJ on their little fantasy billings? AF is good and solid, but they haven't dropped a full album as good as Z. That puts MMJ above them in my book.
2) ChrisV as much as I'd like to agree with you in hoping that Insider really is purposely leading us astray, I doubt she'd drop the names of the "real" headliners, telling us they won't be there, and then having it end up with them as the real deal. Either way, if she is lying to us, the real McCoys won't be Prince, Radiohead, Further, and Lil' Wayne... which ultimately would be equally as disappointing as who we think we have now (not that AF, MMJ, and tBK's are disappointing in any way).
3. If they could somehow get Radiohead, Bonnaroo could go dark for the remaining headliner spots and I'd be happy.
4. Why so much pressure to get hip-hop and/or rap artists into headliner spots? It doesn't make sense. There's a thousand other rock bands more worthy of headliner spot. I mean, when we talk top possibilities for hip-hop and rap, there is less than 5 entities that we consider as real possible headliner-worthy acts. When we switch that to rock, there's about ten times that. I think it's a waste to go give up a headliner spot to a hip-hop act.
5. And why all of a sudden is it so hard for AC to book headliners? Bonnaroo is supposed to be the premiere US festival. Are artists still this pissed off about the Kanye debachle? Is it something else? Bands should be killing themselves to headline this festival in its tenth year.
LiveNation is expecting a sell out. Buzz around the office is they have employed the biggest staff for Bonnaroo ticket release day than they have EVER in the past. They have ALL of their staff coming in for the release and according to the buzz around the LiveNation ticketing office something big is going on and they anticipate a sell out and VIP to possibly sell out in the first day of sales!!!!!!!!!! WTF, there is no way that it is just Eminem causing them to over staff like that. I knew we were missing something and now I am almost sure of it.
AC/DC?
How does Livenation know what to expect for Roo? Or do they just think something may happen.
