Keep in mind that I am only referring to 'headliners' here, which I'll define as the 2 'prime time' spots each on Fri, Sat and Sun (6 acts) - so, just because I may say no to someone who guesses a particular act doesn't mena they may not end up on a late-night or daytime stage.....
So let's do some eliminating - I will start by saying that Furthur was looking as almost definite to close Sunday, but due to a conflict that crept up, they are out.........
the 6 headliners isnt referring to the LN stage spots. Its the HL and either pre-hl/or which closers
also this is where the furthur info comes from, her post before this is where the info about still discussing a headliner is at.
so if i had to guess right now:
Headliners: Friday - Arcade Fire Satuday - *Headliner Still In Discussions With* Sunday - Neil Young & Crazy Horse/CSNY
Pre-Headliners: Friday - John Legend with The Roots Saturday - Robert Plant & The Band of Joy Sunday - WSP
Which Closers: Friday - Vampire Weekend Satuday - (not sure yet) Sunday - The Strokes
LN Stages: Friday - MMJ Saturday - Massive Attack
the first two sections im assuming are the '6 headliners' she referred to.

That makes the most sense. However, last year she referred to Tenacious D as an undercard act, and they were the Friday pre-HL. Maybe she is just referring to the traditional What headliner and the Which closer.
Also, I think it's more likely that they are in negotiations with a Sunday HL than a Saturday HL, since Furthur would have been a Sunday HL.

like where you're going with this, although i have trouble picturing panic in a sunday preheadliner slot. how about cake as the saturday which closer?
Do you think it's possible that due to everyone bitching the past few years about certain headliners (myself included) that this year, for the special 10 year, Bonnaroo is going to have two headliners playing simultaneously on the What and Which so that people aren't forced to sit through KoL during that time slot? Of course having 6 headliners would pretty much require them to not spring for a super expensive legend-type, but 6 pretty big bands/artists.
Just an idea... but I think it's a very good idea for them. The main field gets so packed during healiners that there is dust flying everywhere, I question the safety of it, it's basically a gigantic clustercuss. I think this would be very forward thinking of AC.

i'd prefer to see something like in 09 where you had beasties up against byrne followed by a latenight show either on what or which - maybe this year with this hip hop headliner/big name she's saying vs arcade fire

your prob right, if thats the case then move Neil Young to Sat and let the discussion for sunday take place then. however,if furthur backed out, its possible they could reorganize the headliners if there werent other jam acts avail.
"It's hard to say whether seeing Kellz backed by Jim James and his lion's mane hairdo or Billy Idol rocking out next to John Oates and his soul patch was weirder to watch. Let's just say both were beautifully bizarre sights to behold."

No. They teases Rolling Stones, Who, Furthur, Dylan, etc last year and delivered with Kings of Leon. In response, the tickets sold just fine.
If they learned anything last year (and confirmed with the recent quick Coachella sellout), it is that they will still do just fine, or even better, if they bring in godawful acts who are super famous or hot.

anyone who is happy furthur us ruled out clearly doesnt understand the history this festival has. it wouldve been real nice to get some GD back on the farm for the 10 yr. Furthur wouldve been the perfect Sunday Closer. its F'd up that something happened last second which caused them to bail.
the n00bs on this site really do baffel me.
Trey Anastsio loves Bonnaroo more than anyone. If he/ph wants to play, they will play
She never said that Furthur wouldn't be there. She just said that they are ruled out as a headliner. They could still be there on Friday or Saturday in another slot other than headliner.
Let's finish off Friday's lineup - I think I will make a lot of people happy when I reveal......
My Morning Jacket (can't recall which act is first - but there are your 2 for Friday)
Funny that of the 4 remaining prime-time acts (I'm gonna start using that term now instead of 'headliner') I haven't seen one person even speculate as to the earlier Sat night act.....

MMJ + AF friday night is great!!
just tell us PH and NY will be there thanks!
and is Furthur 100% absesnt from the BILL now?? or could they still play!?
You would have to think that Arcade Fire would play first, followed by an MMJ late night that would go on for as long as they want. Amazing news, Friday night is going to be incredible.
Paul Simon as the early Saturday night act? After being billed first at the Hangout, I see it as a real possibility. And he wouldn't be a "huge" act by any means, but he'd fill the legendary act spot nicely.
