heres this.....bad guys in centeroo about to leave cuz they got "dope on the grounds"
I just finished smokin a cigarette before i saw these guys....
I was walking through the grounds around sundown on Sunday, and I saw two armed goons hassling four 19 or 20 year old looking dudes. They were holding up joints to the kids, asking them questions. I didn't get close, but I turned to my friend next to me, and said rather loudly, "I wonder if those guns help 'em nail miss piggy at night, because they sure don't need them for kids with doobies." Some of it was excessive this weekend, but some of the help was really good. Depends on where you were and what you saw.
I was in Dr. Rumack, right near 3rd and 7th. We saw lots of mounties, but they seemed to patrol the streets and not come into the campsites. Never saw any presence between the tents unless someone was being especially DB-ish. Like others said, the mounties were pretty cool - they seemed to care more about the well-being of folks than to try to make arrests. Walk around looking messed up and out of your mind, they may harass you. See you walking around with a bunch of tees over your shoulder and the pockets of your cargo shorts bulging, they may harass you. Otherwise, they were cool.
You must have been right by me. We were on 7th and 3rd, directly behind the portos. Good spot really, we were invisible from the road. Unfortunately, my buddy got pulled over on the way in and lost some green. He has to drive all the way back down there in Sept for court...
The problem has been in the past that there was so much dru g availability at Bonnaroo that people who had no business injesting them were getting them and it was crappy. I hate to say it, but I almost prefer cops and a reasonable amount of busts to the festival being overrun with narcotics.

I saw 4 or 5 mounties circling a conversion van, so I assumed that they were busting someone. Its annoying when they bust harmless people, but I understand why they have a lot of cops there sometimes. Since there's a lot of violence surrounding the drug industry, because its forced to be confined to the black market, it makes sense that there should be a decent amount of cops. If something ever happened at 'roo involving a crazy person with a gun, then you would want there to be cops.

For the record, I've never had a problem with the mounties. My experience with them for 3 years is that they're there to keep the peace and answer simple logistic questions. Everyone I've ever spoken to has been incredibly friendly.
We brought LOTS of bottled water (unopened) into centeroo with us each time and didn't have any issues with that, but I saw first hand what was happening with the filtered water stations and yeah that was pretty quacked right there.
those must have been the only two cops in centeroo because i never saw one of those guys.
would love to have that t shirt though...
the only anti-drug person i encountered was at FLIPS - when wayne was talking about legalization this guy was shouting back NO!!! ITS BAD!!! - so he was probably a dealer who didnt want to lose his business....

I never saw a single cop all weekend on the farm other than at the tollbooths (which we didn't even have to go through). I did witness some frat type guy get busted by security at the ferris wheel entrance. They pulled out at least an ounce of glowing green from his pocket. He didn't make too much effort to hide it. Total idiot. I was pretty open all weekend without problem.

We were camped way out past Pod 1 and never had any problems, horses came by every so often but I'm assuming since we were so far out it wasn't worth the time coming all the way out there Our neighbors said they got popped in centeroo a couple of times and had all their stuff taken. My girlfriend and I had some stuff set up outside our car and one of the security guys came by on an ATV and gave us a heads up that we were supposed to be selling anything and that if anyone else came by they could take all our stuff. He liked our stuff so he told us to take our sign down and try not to make it look like we were selling and came back later after his shift to buy some things.
I saw some guy with two bags getting chased by 3 "security" guys in centeroo as soon as you entered near the Ferris Wheel. The girl with him had her hands on her head in a "omg" motion freaking out. They finally caught up with him and escorted him back to the entrance. My guess would be he got arrested as they took his bags away from him right away.

All weekend I saw a bunch of ATV cops hanging out in the shade where Bushy Branch and 3rd ave intersect, right near the metal fence. Never ran into a problem except once when i was walking back to my camp I was too drunk and corned out of my mind to realize I was in one of these ATV's way and he had been shouting at me for a while. My fault tho.

I'm seriously disgusted at how many people here are on the side of the cops. Even a few is too many. I've never been helped by a cop, EVER! Only been hassled, even when keeping to myself. You have to realize that not all but SOME things in this world are indeed still "us against them". They don't like me, and I don't like them. I just will never understand why some people are so in love with authority. Fcuk the police!!
Well I personally am glad they have some cops there. If your not being obvious and stupid they won't mess with you. Most everyone is cool at the Roo but people do crazy stuff so I'm happy for SOME security.

what you should say is they didnt mess with you, trust me they did mess with plenty of other people, seriously bonnaroo why would you have undercover pigs running around everywhere, they sure didnt stop any thieves in the camp sites, they were there to take peoples money and i assure you they got a whole lot of it, FTP and F Roo, bonnaroo used to be something special and sadly it has completely lost what it was all about

While riding one of the taxi's back to our camp we were listening to the CB radio the taxi had, and listened to all the cops talking to eachother. We were all talking about how f'd up the things we heard were. We heard cops talking about a couple people who quote "made a whole lot of money selling around 3rd Ave. between 2am and 6am. If you're gonna get these guys best time to do it is the last day around 6am." If they had any intentions of protecting people from "dangerous drugs" they would have stopped the operation immediately. But no they didn't. Instead they opted to wait until the end of the weekend for their stake-out to bring them maximum profit. FTP

Well, it was nice of them to let them sell through the weekend so Rooers could have their substances?

Get mugged at some point in your life and the first thing you'll want is a cop there.
I have no problem with John Prine's "illegal smile" or people having a good time when it doesn't interfere with others. Plus, on private property I don't see why people need to be hassled and harrassed. But after hearing about problems with nitrous at Wakarusa and other festivals I do truly appreciate that I heard no hissing last weekend. Maybe I missed it but a balloon mess is a real mess.
while leaving centeroo one time we saw a skinny shirtless guy getting arrested, on the ground, hand behind his back. no idea what he did. actually kinda felt bad for him. hahaha.
I just try to leave earlier than most people. We left Sunday at 5, before the major shows, and it seemed the cops were just sitting there menacingly with their lights on rather than actually doing much. We did have a lot on us, but luckily didn't get pulled over.
I did hear talk of more people getting busted on Shakedown this year. One dude I met said one of his friends had just been arrested there and was sitting in jail for trying to sell some Lucy to an undercover.
Anyone else hear of more undercovers on Shakedown this year?
i got pulled over on I-24 on weds night. i know the THP's routine, so we were on our best behavior. i had my cruise set at 68. i've been to bonnaroo enough to know you don't give them any reason to fuck with you on I-24. dude pulls me over... went about like this..
police: going a little fast, i had u at 75 me: ok police: where you headed? me: down the road... to a festival... bonnaroo police: well, try to keep the speed down me: ok police: have a good evening
i think he was just hoping the car smelled like some skunk so he could search. too late sucka.

yes there were mad undercovers on shakedown, they were wearing cut up bonnaroo shirts and other stuff you wouldnt expect, they were grabbing people left and right
Thanks to Inforoo, I already had the heads up about undercovers before I even got to Roo this year. That's why I did all my "treasure hunting" in the campgrounds this year, rather than just dealing with pushers in Shakedown. It seems the ones who are walking up to random people trying to sell stuff are the ones you have to be wary of (obviously). I've learned it's much safer to just chill with people for awhile in the camps and then ask about stuff after you've hung out for a little while. Because of this, I didn't have a problem with cops or fake stuff this year, as in past years.

Didn't see too much of a presence while I was there, but I had a funny conversation while getting searched at the US border - asked whether we had any druks I responded with a no and said "we're too old for that" and he responded with "last time I went to a music festival, two Canadian girls offered to share their weed with me. you're all very generous." hahahaha.
