We got the royal CCSD treatment rolling into the gates. There was a particular item that would have caused us some problems had they found it, but the search was fairly relaxed and cursory.
They asked us a lot of mundane questions to feel us out before they started the search. I guess we played it cool enough.
i saw one guy getting busted at the arch lineup on thursday. i laughed cause they had a lot and did nothing to hide it. either be smarter or be sober. but otherwise that was it i think.

Nope but I heard some Leno was going down all over the place. I'm so glad I didn't see anything.
While waiting in line during hour 4 - a bike cop comes up to me and goes "You look scared" And I was like "No just exhausted" he said "Alright" and kept going.
Saw packs of atv mounted deputy sheriffs cruising up and down Bushy Branch the entire festival, and almost as frequently, police cruisers.
We always write some reference to 'Roo in the dust on our vehicle after the festival, but the layer of dust this year was too meager to notice. We had a cool circular face w/shades marked on our windshield on entering the grounds and tried to preserve him, but a rainstorm near the Virginia state line dissolved it on our way home. Saw several vehicles being searched by state troopers on I-81 in Virginia. Most were vans with occupants looking young and being cooperative to police commands to remove and open stuff from their vehicles.
Didn't witness any actual busts myself, but my son saw security put someone down hard near the arch. He'd been brandishing some kind of metal rod, making threatening motions toward people. My son heard him whine to security after being restained, "I don't know what's going on..."
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it
Our neighbors got spooked after watching 3 tents get raided by undercovers. They packed up all their shit in about 15 minutes and left Friday mid-day. Saw what could have been the same girl getting busted for selling bootleg shirts and also saw some nice folks getting their glass taken away on Shakedown. The cops on the way out tried to harass us because my passenger seat belt ended up being jammed under some stuff and we couldn't get it out but after I talked to them on the side of Bushy Branch for a while they helped us get it out and sent us on our way. Nice guys, for the most part.

We were in Camp Murdoc, and there were almost always ATV and horseback pigs on that main road. Saw a few people getting busted for magic mushrooms. I didn't see any undercover cops, but thats seriously messed up that they were just busting people right there in the tents. The increase in pig activity was a serious vibe killer.

We slept right on 3rd ave near the corner of Bushy Branch and saw nothing major go down except the mounted gaurds going up and down the street every now and then. They road their horses into the camping area once bacause they were looking for people selling bootleg tee's and they were in the right area because the guys selling them where right next to us...haha. Talked to them for a while and they seemed like nice guys. Did not bother us about the things we had around our camp site at all.
edit. Just read an artical on cbs.com that said the coffee county police recorded 50 arrest at the fest as of sunday afternoon, slightly higher then past years. 50 of 75,000 arrested does not seem like something for festival goers to sweat.
I didn't see a single person busted or harassed the entire time.
My experience was the same.
Yep. Same here, though I've read in the "Bonnaroo is ruined, I'm never comming back, and ur all stoopid if u do, !!!!" threads that apparently some areas had way more heat than others. I would be pretty pissed too if I had to constatnly worry about cops creeping up on my campsite where I'm just chillin trying to have fun. We were in an RV in Marcellus Wallace, and never saw anything of the sort, didn't get hassled comming in or going out of the festival or the festival grounds.
We brought LOTS of bottled water (unopened) into centeroo with us each time and didn't have any issues with that, but I saw first hand what was happening with the filtered water stations and yeah that was pretty fucked right there.

In between balloons 7 and 8 there would be a huge group of ATV sheriffs. Met a guy who's friend was arrested. Completely ridiculous, I'm very disappointed in Bonnaroo for allowing this. I may consider going to Wakarusa next year. If the amount of sheriffs increase, man, roo just would not be the same.
I was in Dr. Rumack, right near 3rd and 7th. We saw lots of mounties, but they seemed to patrol the streets and not come into the campsites. Never saw any presence between the tents unless someone was being especially DB-ish. Like others said, the mounties were pretty cool - they seemed to care more about the well-being of folks than to try to make arrests. Walk around looking messed up and out of your mind, they may harass you. See you walking around with a bunch of tees over your shoulder and the pockets of your cargo shorts bulging, they may harass you. Otherwise, they were cool.

We got camped all the way in the back, King Jaffe, the walk wasnt as bad as everyone said it was. I never once saw any horses or cops out in our campsite, I did see some horseshoe prints in the soft soil but thats it. We did get the special luxury search by the fine men at the TN state police, but they found nothing that sparked their interest, mearly a case for a one hitter than they ended up just taking.
Edit: One of my friends did get stopped by a mounted security while waking down buschy branch on friday night, he didn't look messed up and wasn't selling anything, the mountee just asked him to empty his backpack and didn't understand what in the world a Camel Back was.
Was camped in tent only and there was no police presence that I was aware of for the duration of the weekend. On Saturday, I saw a plainsclothes policeman with a holstered sidearm catch two men who entered a tent together near the vending area. He went into the tent and had them come out and I don't know what happened after that but they were caught.
Everything was fine with us until Monday morning. Our group was late to leave, which was our fault. However, a shirtless guy came over to our camp and wanted to imbibe in something. My gut reaction was to tell this semi wook to f-off but for whatever reason my co-campers invited him to stay (keep in mind this was time to leave bonnaroo time)
Out of nowhere a sheriff's deputy comes up on an ATV. It was so fast that we had no idea. He searched the shirtless man and accused him of loitering in other campsites, (no surprise although I also strongly suspected racial profiling). The funny thing was that one of our party argued with the deputy that he could not take our pipe, until the deputy re-asserted that he was in fact the police. Our friend had not realized and it felt pretty not-bright for arguing with a police officer like that. None of our party were in trouble though there was a minor confiscation.
We were asking for it, in that we were only one of the few sites still set up around 11am on Monday and there was some activity there. We finished packing immediately and it didn't really affect the weekend but still kind of scary. You could definitely tell that the coffee county sheriffs deputies only get to be 'the man' once a year and they savor every bit of it.
I've known from previous experience how cool the mounties were but I knew they were awesome when they started taking pictures off babies and funny folk at Shakedown they deserve CoCo points every year, Always!
and even I got a lil head stash taking from me, but gotta chaulk it up to being flagrant on Sunday. Itz just a little play buddies, it'll be alright, I heard that stuff grows from the Earth....

I was almost trampled by a mountie, and I have it on footage in this 150 minutes of HD sweetness. I just don't know how to trim and crop and get it off the DVD and onto youtube. Or a torrent. Its got 26 minutes of flaming lips. Someone want to help? Its worth it.
"Music has always been a matter of Energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it Inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel. I have always needed Fuel. I am a serious consumer. On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio."

i saw the mounties bust a nitrous operation. these dudes had like 20 balloons right off shakedown, ferris bueler (sp?), and 3 horsebacks came up and started hassling them. they were all "we swear we don't have a tank!" one of the mounties tasted a balloon and said "turn em loose" (the balloons). i didn't stick around to see if they got searched for a tank or not, but either way it was just because they were being SUPER flagrant. i personally don't care for nitrous.
while leaving centeroo one time we saw a skinny shirtless guy getting arrested, on the ground, hand behind his back. no idea what he did. actually kinda felt bad for him. hahaha.
Saw what could have been the same girl getting busted for selling bootleg shirts and also saw some nice folks getting their glass taken away on Shakedown.
Was she swooped on by 5 mounties (My wife almost got trampled by of em) while a crew member shouted at her who else was working with her? You woulda thought she had a dirty bomb.
