The people I'm going with bought an old prison bus and re-vamped it...painted it bright blue and added trippy mushrooms/other hippy things (this is the inside). I'm pretty pumped, however...
Drawback: there are at least 4 or 5 carloads of people going in our group, but we could only get one companion pass for the "RV". The pass will go to the man with the bus as he lives nearby and he'll be the one coming and going. How far away will we be parking from the RV lot? Does anyone know? We will literally have a car filled with camping gear we need to get to the bus in the RV lot once we get there. I'm just not too thrilled with the thought of lugging all our shiz for an hour to get to the site.
That looks very cool! The day parking is off of bushy branch road entrance. If you are tagging along with him and waiting in line, it is a crap shoot as to where you all will end up. He could end up in camp wolf and you end up in Camp 24 out in BFE, then its a VERY long haul. It really all depends on where and how you get set up. It honestly is really hard to tell until it all shakes down. I would suggest possibly parking in day parking (if you can) which would be a bit more guaranteed and would be closer to camp wolf if that is where he ends up. Good luck and have a blast. Also it does not hurt to call and see if you can buy an RV pass and park your vehicle with the RV...but it would be in a whole spot...might be worth a shot.
As my Inebriated buddy walks out of the Porto, he yells out, "Dude...I love this place...bonnaroo thinks about everything...they even put beer holders next to the toilet!"
Had to break it to him that that was the urnal. Good times good times!
This is one side of the outside. The other side has some mushrooms, etc. I think it's pretty wonderful
Does anyone know if you can set up tents for camping in the RV grounds next to your RV? Or is that a no-no? I'm getting nervous that we won't be able to camp next to the bus.

ColdRoses,
Cool bus! You guys won't be hard to spot at all!
Setting up tents, EZ-ups, Shower tents, etc. is all permitted in your RV space. The trouble is space; Your school bus will take up a large part of it. It's just whatever you can fit in your designated space, and how best you can work it out with your surrounding neighbors. Be careful though on tent placement since you will be near carbon monoxide producing generators.
If you guys are planning on arriving in Manchester by Wednesday night 8PM, please join our group! PM me your names.

Hey Guys, we are RV'ing it from Dallas this year and are looking to arrive early Thurs am. Any advice on where to be or what time to go in? I know it's probably buried in this post somewhere but I just found this thread after reading 3 different sites and I'm about to bail out of work. I'm glad I found this one. Any advice would be most appreciated.

I'm even more confused now Can we park the bus wherever there is a spot once we get there? I'm guessing it's probably a bad idea to try to put a tent up next to the bus with the generators/ carbon monoxide. I'm thinking those of us who are "camping" can camp and we can have the RV spot be our hang out spot. Or do they monitor who's allowed in and out of the RV lot?
Also...any clue how difficult it would be to ride the bus in and then transfer our camping gear to a camp site? Or should we ride in separately and do car/tent camping?
I realize you RV-ers probably don't have all of these answers, but I'm starting to freak out that we won't all be together. Side-note: I am a worrier with intense anxiety so I have to spend the next two weeks freaking out so I don't freak out once I get there.
Hope this helps. You can pitch a tent in the RV section with your RV. Okay let me start you from the beginning. THE LINE. To get in you are going to enter the line. There are three different entrances, either way you are going to be in a line both RVs and Cars. Once you enter to the search area is where you get split up into RVs and cars. if you have an companion pass you will be allowed to join the RV in line. Once you show your ticket and they give you your arm band you will pass into the Farm. You then filter into another line to go into the camping areas.
Entering Camping/RV areas. Its a crap shoot as to where or what camp they place you in, but you will be guided by roo peeps to your area...THEY WILL NOT LISTEN TO YOU They will park you in what ever camp they are setting up at the moment. RVs will be filed in one after the other and you will take your space then the next rv...and the next. The Car campers are sent to their area, and depending where/what camp they are setting up at that moment you will go there with your car.
now you can do camp only and shlep your stuff to this area and this is the closest to the entrance of Centeroo...but this one is first come first serve.
Back to your question...will your car/camp be close to your RV. There is a possibility, but once again it is extremely random. Can you lug all of your stuff from one camp to the other...You can feel free to do it, i can suggest a wagon, people do this all the time. They will have a car/camp site and will set up a tent a camp only (usually for a middle point to their car)
Last year Lingfan, brought some people with tents and jeramaroo did too, and set up their tents at the end of the rv...not accounting for the RV on the other parking spots exhaust...needless to say it was a bad experience with we cranked up our generators carbonmonoxide was HEAVY.
NOW please doing get this as being a negative nancy,..its just the way it is with the camping and RV...they do it to keep people from storming the gates and jumping in line on Monday...and it has worked all these years.
Enjoy...have a great time. This is my fifth Roo fourth Rving...I LOVE IT!
Please if this still does not clarify PM me, I can draw up maps and all

WOW! Thank you SO SO SO much for all your help. You two seriously cleared up so much for me. I still have no idea how to go about this once we show up, but this will help in the decision making process. If i knew how to give you Karma or props or whatever, I would!!
Also, I just checked out the 2011 Bonnaroo guide today and it says that buses are not an acceptable RV. BLAST! I have NO idea what we will do now!!

The rule about buses has been there for the past two years that I've attended, however I personally saw at least three converted school buses just like yours. I'm guessing their intent is to not allow true/non-converted school buses with 50 seats in them with 50 warm bodies planning on going in to Tent Only? You'll probably be okay with that vehicle, but you may want to shoot off an email to clarify with the Roo officials if you are worried. (you did mention earlier though that you've got quite a few folks - how many?)

I think only two people are staying in the bus. Maybe 7 of us were going to ride in on it. At this point, I'm thinking two people on the bus, one person in the companion vehicle, plus us in our car then the rest of our possee flowing in freely via shuttle, car or foot.
At this point, I'm guessing tent only or car/tent camping will be best bet upon arrival. We can just use the bus/RV as the hangout camp. I'm still contemplating riding into 'Roo on the bus with all of our crap, then hauling our stuff from the RV lot to the tent only lot. I'm HOPING that the RV lot is closer to the tent only than the tent/car camping. I really want to be close to the RV lot so I can be nearby the bus, and I would love to be in tent only for the shorter walk to Centeroo. Regardless, the rest of our group (about 15 people total) will roll in whenever they can and go to whichever tent they choose.
Still waiting to hear from info@bonnaroo as to whether or not we can use a bus if it's been converted.
I cant remember, if you have a companion vehicle do you have to park in the same spot as the RV? Or do you get a whole spot next to the RV? Because a car and an RV will be squished!

The Companion Vehicle pass will allow an accompanying vehicle to park next to an RV in its designated area. The Companion Vehicle must arrive together with the RV so it can be parked in the appropriate corresponding area. Companion Vehicles will not be allowed to park in the RV area fire lanes. Any vehicles or obstructions will be removed at the owner’s expense
Just found this little nugget of information scrolling thru the info guide.
There will be RV areas serving each of the major routes to the festival but police may direct you to a specific entrance at certain times. You will be directed to the RV area closest to the entrance you arrive at after you have passed through the tollbooths. Once an RV is parked in a designated space, it cannot move to another space. If you leave, you will surrender your RV space. A company will be onsite in the RV areas to pump tanks and refill water for an appropriate fee.
So if we enter of off the temp hwy exit we will get placed back in camp the wolf? Has anyone entered a different rout??? Hmmm...if I recall last year there were rvs in front of us and were allowed to go through all the way across to mcfly, and we got stuck at the wolf...am I remembering clearly?

Ok count us in 4 ppl leaving from Indiana with an rv. I really did not want to read through 10 pages of this thread on my phone so I kinda browsed. Please email me details of meeting point someone at jhall967@gmail.com. I will definnatly read this when I have a computer. We will be in a convoy coming from Indiana but we are the only rv so we are going to break away to meet up with you all. We will be leaving Indiana about 6 pm Wednesday and planned on getting right in line. But a meeting would be awesome so we know our neighbors before hand. And maybe fill water and get last minute supplies ect. Please email thanks.

Our group is meeting in Manchester between 6 - 8 PM and entering the gates on Wednesday night at 8. You're welcome to join us if you can, but I think you'd need to borrow the USS Enterprise for warp speed. Let me know if you can adjust your time!

It says on the site that we can bring factory sealed bottles of water into centeroo. Does anyone know if they will allow unopened gatorade or soda bottles? I assume not, but I don't know how strict the searches are at centeroo.

We'll be getting in line around 1am Thursday and will be in RV camping in a pop-up. If you see my flags give me a yell! Would love to meet some fellow RV Inforoo'ers!
