I dunno if people are saying "don't go to youf first roo VIP" cuz there's something about earning your spurs in GA or anything, but I've done both and they can be pretty drastically different. In GA people tend to cluster, even if they don't know each other until they're setting up their camp. Groups of friends tend to be larger since more people can afford GA. Forget the horror stories about waiting in line a long time to get in, they got that all figured out around 04 or 05. I would advise purely from an economic standpoint to go GA and camp in camp inforoo.

I know some folks who went GA in 2008 who might disagree with you on that. I also heard that getting out last year was problematic for the VIPs, particularly towards the end of Phish's set.

I wouldn't necessarily say that, while I was lucky enough to wait just about 3 hours last year, plenty of people seem to have been in the 6-13 hour range
Wow! Thanks for all of the info everyone! I didn't think I would get this many responses! I'm definitely coming. I still haven't decided which ticket i'm going to buy though... I really hope that I get to meet some of you people! If anyone is interested in meeting up and hanging out please send me an email ( audior8777@yahoo.com ) and we can exchange a little info! Thanks again everyone!
If you are distressed by anything external, the pain is not due to the thing itself, but to your own estimate of it; and this you have the power to revoke at any moment.
I did VIP in 08, and never got even mildly hassled. True story while drinking a PBR in a can maybe a little on the drunk side in centeroo, a guy walked up and told me to throw it away. I held up my VIP wristband and said no and he walked away. The entrance was fast and all I ever did was throw away the beer I was drinking.

5) do you miss the "real" bonnaroo? ive been both ways and would say no. at the end of 06 when i flew down and did tent-only, i felt like i survived. all the other years i went VIP and at the end, i felt like i had a good time. ask yourself - is this a vacation or an endurance test?
I couldn't have said it better myself. It seems like most people who are voting for GA have never been VIP and are only making assumptions about what it's actually like. I can't comment on GA because I've only been once and it was VIP. Let's put it this way-- I've personally never known someone to go GA after going VIP.
I went VIP (with RV) my second year and went back to GA immediately. Back to tent only, no less!
As someone else said, GA had more of a community vibe from my personal experience. VIP seemed more compartmentalized. With all the extra land surrounding them people seemed to keep more to themselves. Which may be fine for some, especially if you are with a group. Considering this guy is going solo, a more communal environment might be a better fit.
pepper...how could anyone not go after reading that?? you just made me really super excited for my first roo!!!
awww haha yay!
and audior...I'm glad to hear you've decided to come! You definitely made the right decision. I don't know if you've already read the posts about it here, but you should think about coming to the Inforoo brunch. We're fun people with good food (and sometimes silly hats)!

hahaha, i should have done that last year when i got hassled for the same thing. instead i just looked at the guy and pounded the beer.
its somewhat of a douche-y move though, but justified...

That is a very good point. I wasn't really there to meet people. I already had plenty of friends there when I went. If one is going to meet people, you're probably right-- GA seems like the way to go.
If you have no problems using a porti-potti exclusively for 4 days, go GA...
If you don't want to shower for 4 days OR pay 8- 10 bucks for a lame shower, go GA..
VIP is expensive, but the bathrooms and showers are an oasys...especially as the festival progresses.
It is also nice to be so close o the action..usually it takes just seconds to get into Centeroo via vip...there's always a line under the arch of dozens if not hundreds waiting to get in at any given time... Almost forgot the airconditioned lounges (SEE PIC)...very comfortable couches for a quick siesta Ok, I'll shut up now..
