I feel the same way. I have pretty high confidence that when you put together a hundred bands I can find plenty of cool music to listen to on one of the stages. I could say the same thing for most multiple stage festivals. I haven't seen a lineup at any of the major festivals that would make me feel like I wasn't getting my monies worth.

Went to the bonnaroo.com website today to see if the schedule had been miraculously dropped. What I did find is that they have extended the payment plan so that people can purchase their tickets through May 21st now. Now I'm not sure if this was done in past years, however that is a HUGE red flag to me that they are hurting for ticket sales this year.
"We're no longer called Sonic Death Monkey. We're on the verge of becoming Kathleen Turner Overdrive, but just for tonight, we are Barry Jive and his Uptown Five. "
Many people don't make it past the first few lines of a lineup before deciding to attend a fest. When the first two names make you want to vomit....ya ticket sales will struggle.
Have been enjoying your banter on this list.. I'm going to Roo for the first time this year... why? Not just the lineup, but I want to have a great time, meet folks and hang out and enjoy good times for a week... and I missed ACL last year cause I was on my freaking death bed... which sucked....
I do think that ticket sales are down.. I've noticed that several companies are giving away packages of tickets as in 10 at a time, and a Tour Bus to stay in with use of golf cart.. Really?
And apparently they still have tents available..
I think the economy is so bad people are not willing to pay to make the trip. Plus the heat and weather and not everyone is into camping.
But fewer people, more fun... more space... closer to the music...
and I will be suffering through DMB cause I promised.... gawd help me....I'll need a smoke or two
Oh yeah.. I have my ACL tickets ordered... just waiting on the line up later this week... my niece is going this year for her first time, so this will be a good year no matter the line up...
Love ACL... I do two weeks of vacation a year now and plan one week for ACL...
Yeah. I just love that Roo has so much to do. It's mainly music, but also the whole vibe... plus, there's other stuff to do, like the Art of Such n Such and whatnot.
At first glance, I was apprehensive due to the cost, then I saw some familiar names, looked at videos/pictures, and I couldn't not go... but of course, money still matters. But I've figured last minute tickets are cheaper and it gives me more time to save up and make sure I can afford it. *wish me luck* I wish I could find someone with a free ticket! haha... (wishful thinking)
i think that ticket sales are going to be down from last year...i dont know how much but i feel like the only ridiculous show this year (wow factor) is going to be darkside of the moon....other than that you can listen to most all these bands on the radio which doesnt make it bad by any means. i dont think people realize how much music they get for under 300 dollars a ticket...jay-z himself would be almost 200 dollars a ticket for good seats and thats just one act

Here is something referencing the Nashville business journal indicating that they expect more than 70,000 this year. This was a projection from a month back and not an AC source but still interesting.
2009 was my first bonnaroo experience and i had one of the most amazing times of my life. as soon as we were driving out sunday night i was counting down the days until i could come back. when i first saw this year's lineup, i changed my mind. the headliners totally turned me off...but then i looked at all the other bands going ( the avett bros, john prine, temper trap, weezer, pheonix, and others) i decided there was no way i couldn't go. 2010 will be amazing for all the acts that aren't headliners.

I love the fact that this year might be less crowded than previous years. Not that it was ever a problem for me, but the less people the less lines for food and beer.

I think the line up is not bad. Pretty diverse. The economy will bounce back as will the numbers on the farm. I'm guessing 69,782 this year. That includes ME!!!

I bought my ticket in January, and judging by the lineup, and the fact that the schedule is probably going to end up being another Conflictaroo, I expect to see a total of about 23 people and myself at the farm this year.

clearly people who say the line up is bad are being ridiculous...sorry guys but its true! theres nothing BAD about it...i could see it being "bad" if britney spears were going to be the only main event, but like what was said before, JAY Z alone tops last years lineup in my books...and lets remember, NUMBERS DONT LIE

None of these points are facts.
Or true, but what do you expect from someone who thinks Jay-Z is better than Phish, Bruce, NIN, Beasties, and Byrne all rolled into one. Also since numbers DONT LIE let me tell you apparently ticket sales are way down so I am guessing I am not the only one who feels this lineup could have used some work.

"Jay-Z" tops last years lineup?????? So you're saying Jay-Z is a bigger draw than Phish and The Boss? I'm not even going to see Jay-Z, I'll just sit back in Tent Only and listen.

I can personally attest to being shut out of volunteering this year because ticket sales were down. I heard this a month ago. Take it for what it's worth.
Yes, alot of locals won't be going. I've got several friends that have sold, or didn't get a ticket, because of the flooding. Money is having to go to fix their homes, find new apartments, replace furniture etc.
What is an indicator to me of how ticket sales have gone, is the fact that they have "extended" the payment plan, so that you could still buy a ticket NOW on the payment plan and the last payment would come out on June 3rd. I don't think they have offered that in the past. To me that says...begging for sales.
Hoping for a 55,000 or less crowd. XD More room for me. A
