Making my way through it right now and loving it. Did not expect to like it so much. It's much less poppy (not that that was a bad thing) than Oracular.
There aren't any Electric Feel or kids types songs on it, so if you wanted more of that you're going to be disappointed.

my first listen through, i just thought it was alright. i gave it about an hour and listened again, and thought it sounded a lot better. gotta give it a few more spins though
i was a bit worried before hearing it because all of the talk about how weird and different it would be straight from mgmt and some fans of oracular wouldnt like it so much. i was very surprised. i can see where they are coming from because this is a lot more out there but the more i listen to it the more i love it.
i really love it. i was not expecting much so maybe that helped..but...I might be totally out of line here, but it reminds me of like a modern Velvet Underground

I like it a lot as well. I love Oracle Spectacular, every song. Congratulations IS a kind of different sound. Like nodepression said it IS less poppy. It seems much more mellow to me and on several songs I felt that they were channeling The Beatles. I love that they have the courage to change up their style just a little. The fact that they didn't feel too pressured to make it just as poppy as Oracle Spectacualr b/c of all they hype that songs like Time To Pretend and Electric Feel got, well to me that makes them brave musicians. They weren't scared to take their music and give it a semi-different feel and that is awEsome.

I think you mean Oracular, not Oracle. ;]
I'm just now listening to the album for the first time, and I'm unsure how I feel, but I haven't even made it all the way through. I'm a huge MGMT fan, so we'll see.. :]
I'm really looking forward to it. I seem to be in the minority that really enjoyed their 'roo set last year. Including all the new material they were trying out.

This one is definitely a grower. I'm liking it more every time I listen to it. The main problem is most of these songs aren't fully fleshed out. Not enough/long enough bridges. Most of the transitions are so immediate and abrupt like they're just rushing through the songs. Nonetheless, you can hear influence from Bowie, Pixies, Beach Boys, Of Montreal and it's hard to go wrong with that. Siberian Breaks is ambitious and awesome. The last couple tracks are the weakest but this album overall is way better than most people were expecting. MGMT might actually become something.

What the fuck are you guys talking about? Upon first listen, I thought it was more painful than a Kimbo Slice anal rape... and I love MGMT.
They definitely changed their sound to where they could actually translate it to a live show and not have people say they suck as much... so I guess that is a good thing. But still... Kimbo Slice, guys.
2/5- Papadosio 3/3- MUSE 3/12- John Mayer 3/19- The Werks 3/31- Passion Pit 4/18- Ben Folds 4/20- Against Me! 6/10- Bonnaroo 6/30- Eric Clapton and Roger Daltrey
I didn't know if I loved this album or hated it on my first listen but now that I have listened to it about 5 times through I really like it. As mentioned above this album is a grower. In fact I think I like this album more than their first.

Yep definitely agree.
This album definitely won't be liked by as many people as Oracular, but I'm very glad they got weirder. I think it's more of the sound they were shooting for all along but weren't able to convey until they became better musicians.
