I would just like this opportunity to proclaim my love of baseball stats.
The amount of irrelevant stuff they keep track of is amazing.
The second time a left handed batter has hit a lead off double against a right handed reliever throwing a curveball to a rookie cathcher in the 8th inning of a Sunday night game on the road while the temperature was under 50 degrees and there was over a 65% chance of rain. The first being Chester "the angry badger" Budding for the Washington Senators in 1918.
Those rare events are precisely what causes me to want to rip a power poll out of the ground and parade it down main street.
The was the fourth tallest power pole to be removed by fans in a victory celebration, East of the Mississippi river, in the live ball era

My mother is absolutely insane. She is currently making the drive to Columbia to come pick me and my cousin up, alone. A 12 hour round trip. We will return to Chicago at approximately seven in the morning.
I wish i could make the trip out to Wrigleyville for the parade but going to Sound on Sound Fest for free isn't something to be bummed about either. I'll be there next time. My cuzzo will be there hopefully though. He better fucking be there.
Being there for game 5 when all the momentum turned was pretty fucking awesome. Especially after the W when i was walking on Sheffield and Tom fucking Ricketts walked right in front of me. Got to pat him on the back. Got it on video too.
Hey, if you like to read stuff about baseball, I just started writing for a blog about the Cardinals. It's a coping mechanism after the Cubs. Check it out if you'd like.

Appreciate it. Are you from the St. Louis area? Or just have friends down there?
I'm a journalism student at Mizzou. I'm not from the area (I'm from Chicago) but STL sports is just so much easier to write about down here than Chicago sports in general.

Oh very nice. I had considered Mizzou back in the day. Beauuuuutiful campus, and the food was good. Those are my only first hand experiences.
Ya think so? The widely-considered #1 position prospect in baseball with a guy that's been clocked at 105 MPH? Not to mention the other two throw in prospects are incredibly raw talents in their own rights (some even say Basabe even has All-Star potential). Personally, it's a great building block if you make other moves around it. That being said, it would be a total Reinsdorf team move to not do anything else and waste Moncada.

The Dodgers were talking Urias, Bellinger, Verdugo + for Sale.
Urias is already a MLB-level talent and could be a star, and Bellinger and Verdugo aren't far behind. Bellinger figures to be a great 1B, allowing the ChiSox to flip Abreu or Garcia, and Verdugo could be a great CF; the ChiSox really haven't had one of those since Aaron Rowand (Eaton's a corner OF). And that wouldn't have been the whole deal!
I'd take that deal over the the one the ChiSox got. Granted, there's no fucking way the Dodgers actually agree to it. So the BoSox deal is probably the sweet spot between what the ChiSox wanted and what another team was willing to get.

I was going to say, I don't think I actually heard that LA deal. I mean, some people were saying that it might be a possibility, but I don't know it was real. The purported deal from the Nationals with Giolito headlining wasn't as good as this IMO. I feel like just looking at the deal itself, it's a win-win for both sides. The Sox get their future centerpiece, with benefits, and the BoSox solidify a now stacked rotation.
Reports also circulated that the Sox used the Washington rumors to get the pieces they desired from Boston.

I'm afraid Boston gave up too much

As a part time white sox fan, and someone who has watched sale pitch his entire career, the juice will be worth the squeeze.
RIP Yordano Ventura, who was killed in a car crash last night. Just 25 years old.
Crazy sad for a good young guy who had a bright future ahead of him. And former MLBer Andy Marte hit a house with his Benz and also was killed this morning in the D.R.
Apparently, more people per capita die in car wrecks in the Dominican Republic than anywhere else in the Western hemisphere, due largely to really crumby roads as well as a culture of driving fast.
