Fun fact for the day: Oklahoma is the Choctaw word for "red people."
Discussion of changing the Redskins 81 year old team name has been broached several times throughout my life, but it has never gained much traction. This time around, however, it appears the momentum for changing it will win the day. As a Redskins fan, am I in favor of changing it? Not necessarily. Do I oppose changing it? Not really. The world will go on if this football team is called the Redskins or the Warriors or the Whiteguilts or any other suggested team name. Given that fact, should the team name be changed? Probably.
The only thing I am bothered by is the sudden onrush of phony outrage from people like Peter King, who has used the team name for 30+ years without a single complaint, yet has now decided he wishes to spearhead (zing!) the name change movement because enough people are currently outspoken about it.
Every single team that I have rooted for in each series has lost. Every. Single. One. Even in one game wild card games. So, in case the gamblers out there are wondering I am rooting for Detroit to beat Boston. When (and they will even with Scherzer and Verlander) they lose I will then root for Boston against St Louis. So if the trend is your friend then it's Boston and St Louis with the Cardinals winning it all. Please save $8 from your winnings and buy me a beer at Roo 14. Miserable baseball season. At least the Yankees aren't in it.
You better be rooting for the Cardinals next week.
I got tickets for game 7 tomorrow if the sox don't pull this one out tonight. I want them to clinch it soooo bad tonight but I'd be lying if I said the idea of seeing that game isn't making be feel tiny bit conflicted.

Please just close it tonight...if the Tigers make it to the series its going to be so damn boring.

What a stupid idea that is. Turner Field isn't even 20 years old, why not just fix that up? Everything is all about raking it in from taxpayers nowadays.
I read that today and thought, "What a freaking waste!" Just ignorant that they are going to waste taxpayer money and get all kinds of breaks to build a new field.
btw.....I went to the very first Braves game ever played at Turner Field. I surprised my bf with tix that I got for $1 each. They sold them all season 3 hours before game time for the upper deck of left and right.
