And now for Jose Bautista getting socked in the kisser.
Bautista got what was coming to him, in my book. I may be biased as a former middle infielder, but that was not a hard slide and attempt to break up a double play, it was a late, dangerous, dirty slide by a guy who was already pissed off. The way he popped up and immediately looked for Odor was telling. Plays like that get people hurt, and I hate to think what could have happened to Odor if the ball had gotten to him late or he'd mishandled it. He made a wide throw as it was (and Bautista was called for interference), so if he were a fraction of a second slower there's no telling what could have happened to his knee or ankle. Playing hard (like a "professional foul," for soccer fans) or challenging someone is one thing, but doing something dirty than can cause serious injury is another story.

Yes, Odor was definitely pissed about the late slide, being a middle infielder himself he would never do that! Oh, wait, what???
My fantasy values are really hurting because of this rule.
It's a wise idea to not draft much pitching out of this division. I for years wouldn't even start Yankee pitchers in games against the Red Sox and Sox pitchers against the Yankees. Now it's Boston, Baltimore, and Toronto.
WOW. 19 innings, Indians 2, Jays 1. 14 in a row (Indians team record)!!!!
Jays eventually used position players to pitch, Indians used tomorrow's starter. Two Jays players + manager ejected. 6 hours, 13 minutes played. Donaldson and Carrera combined to go 0 for 13, Napoli 1 for 9 - yikes! What a crazy game.
Edit: And it was an odd 1 o'clock Friday start due to it being Canada Day, making it that much more bizarre of a game.
O's are 29th or so in starting pitching ERA, 31st in total innings pitched by starters and yet they lead the division. AL East is easily one of the most volatile in baseball.
As an O's fan I'm glad they haven't unloaded the dump trucks on a #1 pitcher, it just doesn't mean as much in these small ballparks.
Hey, I’m Wil! I’m big-league baseball player in San Diego. Originally from North Carolina, I’m excited to share my insider tips with out of town fans. As a San Diego local, I chose to list my spare bedroom on Airbnb for fans to share in the excitement of the big game next week.
He is so cool, on top of being an excellent player, I hope we can keep him.
I might be in the minority on this, but I don't want the Red Sox to trade for Chris Sale. I hope they don't. Because while they can afford him, I imagine the White Sox want a huge return for him. I rather keep Yoan Moncada and Andrew Benintendi.
I'm cautiously optimistic about the Red Sox chances. Losing five of six heading into the playoffs, not good. But there's potential to win it all.
I just hope, if Boston does make the World Series - they don't play the Cubs. Not because I'm worried they can beat Boston easily. More like, do you want to be the team that the Cubs beat to finally win it? Or the team that beats the Cubs in their first world series in 70 years?
Woohoo! So happy for the Indians right now! A sweep without 2 of their top 3 starters? I called 3 sweeps in the shoutbox, so that's one down. Not all shutouts like I said, but I'll take it.
Was I being an Indians homer if I whined about the TBS coverage? I know I'm a homer, but it really seemed like they favored the Red Sox. Always calling their players by their first names (Xander, Dustin, Clay, Hanley, Mookie, David, Drew...), sucking up to Big Papi at every chance, gushing over that punk Pedroia (who should have been ejected after throwing a tantrum and showing up the umpire after striking out in game 3, which would have earned an early shower in any other game, which was after doing that at the end of a previous game), and always talking about how things must have looked from the Red Sox player's point of view. Plus never mentioning who was or wasn't warming up in the pen, who might be called don to pinch hit, how the Indians actually ended up with the better record, etc. It just seemed strange, and amateurish, if not unexpected. Their guys aren't as downright annoying as Fox, but they could be a lot better.
No offense to Bostonians or Sox fans, my sister is a New Englander, and y'all are okay. Incredible last season for Ortiz, too bad it had to end that way for a real class act. Just like with Jeter - I have no love for the Yankees, but Jeter will be a deserving first-ballot HOF'er, like Ortiz.

The Giants have now won 10 consecutive elimination games, the most in MLB history. Think that's an easy thing to do? Try flipping a coin and having it come up heads 10 times in a row. Seriously, go ahead. I'll wait.
Not surprising they got swept. There was potential in this roster, but they had no momentum the last couple weeks.
Boston could have won 100 games this year, but John Farrell's probably cost us 5-7 games this year. Some have argued as many as 12. I won't be surprised if he's fired, and I'm kinda hoping he is.
Not angry about the Indians, they simply outplayed the Sox and Francona is a good manager. I hope they beat Toronto for the AL pennant. It'd be something if after 50 years of nothing, Cleveland could win two championships in less than six months.

1. Dombrowski has already said Farrell's returning for 2017.
2. ...to be followed by another 50 years of misery.

So it came up heads 10 times but on the 11th it came up tails. Do you think that's an omen?
