I went to the 2005 Bonnaroo and this is about the same lineup. Is kol a headliner? Who are the headliners ?? lol. Is this some kind of prank Bonnarro is playing? I keep looking for the Rollong Stones, or some last min. real headliner.I like Stevie Wonder but more of a oldies show, this is a thing I could take my grandparents to, lol.
you're lucky stevie wonder can't read this or else he'd have to come kick your ass
Does anyone have any information on the whole Gary Chardonnay thing? Is he a real artist or some prank that the bonnaroo staff have come up with?
Gary Chardonnay is the character in all of the "Make Your Own Bonnaroo Video" video. I think they just have him listed because he's in all the promo video stuff. No more no less...Don't look too deep into it.
^^yeah, but he's on the actual lineup, not just the promo videos. And a Google search for his name reveals only Bonnaroo-related stuff, mainly people like us wondering who he is. That seems fishy, considering he's billed above acts like OK Go, Baroness, Lotus, Edward Sharpe, Jay Electronica, etc. My guess is that he's a placeholder for the book-a-band winner.

Or Dan Bern. But honestly I think your right. He seems to just be a place holder for the book a band contest.

First of all Stevie Wonder will be epic his stuff is great..i am planning on getting as close as i can for that one. Secondly every roo is extremely unique so saying that this one will suck is just ridiculous. its gonna be a great roo this year especially w/ great late night contributions by deadmau5...the disco biscuits and others.
I also think that they are still to announce another big artist that is going to blow our brains out. its not like roo will fail us they know what we expect
ouch, mumford and sons just got eviscerated in pitchfork....what kind of reviews are they getting from other places?
Eh, Pitchfork doesn't know what they're talking about. I've been listening to their album non-stop since the lineup came out and they're probably my most anticipated band. Its pretty fantastic from start to finish.

That just sounds so entitled. "roo will fail us"? what about the people who like the lineup?
People that think there will be a big Headliner addition weren't around for the Led Zeppelin '07 fiasco. I remember a whole conspiracy that AC/Superfly didn't release them on the original announcement out of fear that Zep fans would purchase all the tickets and stop "the bonnaroo faithful" from attending.

I think if there are "big" additions its likely not a headliner, but more likely to be some second or third line bands. If you look at the stuff after Jay Z it drops off a lot quicker than in the past few years. Adding a band or two in the 5-10 spot would go a long way, maybe even just as much as one really big name act (depending on who it is).

Those people are wrong. I agree with nmichaels013 that there is a certain level of expectation that must be met. As customers, we are entitled.
You know how sometimes you put your iTunes on shuffle and come across a band you hadn't thought about it a long long time? Well that just happened to me, and I googled said band, only to discover that they're playing 6 reunion shows this August. I was immediately transported back to my emo-pop early high school days, and imagined them playing an afternoon tent set at 'Roo.
I know it would never happen. The timing, the crowd, and the vibe is all wrong, but I wish The Juliana Theory could be at the farm in June.
6/18: Phish in Hartford 6/25: Phish in Camden 7/2-7/4: Nateva 7/17: God Street Wine at Irving Plaza 7/23-7/25: String Cheese at Red Rocks!! 8/17-8/18: Phish at Jones Beach 9/3: Rush at PNC
This Bonnaroo lineup is in dire need of some Rush.

I disagree. The 'mid-tier' bands are what makes Bonnaroo shine for me this year.

No offense but gag me (JT). Actually... the band that would perfectly fit that Itunes description for me is weezer and they actually are on the bill.... I hope to catch their set for the exact reasons you described and would def not miss them if I knew what kind of set they'll play

Unless they add some great stuff this will be the first roo I skip since 04. I know many other people in my same situation. They're losing lots of long time fans this year. All of the lineups are on the weak side this year, this one is just especially weak.

different strokes for different folks. i like a lot of the festival's lineups this year (roo included). i'm going to do mtn. jam and nateva but if i was able to i'd love to do all good and coachella and more. hopefully next year the festivals will have bands you like more.

I like a whole fucking lot of music, even a lot of bands playing at festivals this year. I'm objectively comparing all of the lineups this year with the last few years and sorry but they do not stack up.
There's no way you can claim that 2 Phish sets, Bruce, NIN, BB's, Bryne and Wilco = DMB, KOL, Jay-Z, Stevie Wonder, Flips, Tenacious D, and Weezer. Not even close.
And with Coachella: Jay-Z, Muse and Gorillaz definitely doesn't match up to McCartney, The Cure and The Killers.
The same goes for other festivals. Face it, it's not a big year for festival lineups. This is objective, not strokes for folks.

I agree that it's a down year for the big festivals, but at least it's not JUST Bonnaroo. No, IMO this lineup isn't as good as last year's, but the krewe is still down to go, as am I. Bonnaroo will be successful this year even with the meh lineup. For me, it's as much about about seeing old friends that I never see anymore as it is about the music, maybe even more so...

Oh and the undercards follow suit. I like Coachella's lineup this year about equally with last. However the headliners this year didn't cost GV nearly as much or have nearly as much drawing power as they did last year.
