I can't think of anything that really sounds like OMNDJERY, except Tom and Jerry. Taking the letters A-R-T out of Tom and Jerry just sounds pretty much the same. That leaves the Paul Simon angle, and that capitalized LIVES from the last hint. Simon sounds like Ryman, as in Nashville's Ryman Auditorium. According to wiki, it closed in 1974 , then " the Ryman then sat mostly vacant and fell into disrepair until 1992 when Emmylou Harris and her band, the Nash Ramblers, performed a series of concerts there (the results of which appeared on her album At the Ryman). The Harris concerts renewed interest in restoring the Ryman, and it was reopened as an intimate performance venue and museum in 1994. " Ryman sounds like Simon, Emmylou has a live album At the Ryman, and it was those concerts that are the reason the Ryman lives. Stretchy, I know.
I definitely think Furthur will be there. But how is the answer to this clue not Paul Simon? Tom and Jerry (Simon and Garfunkel's former name) minus Art = Paul Simon.
I agree, as would William of Ockham (of Occam's Razor fame). When in doubt, go with the simplest explanation. The simplest answer to this clue is Paul Simon.

Djjd pretty much eliminated Paul Simon as the answer to this clue.

Maybe what DJJD means by 'sounds like' is musically. We need to find the answer and then a band who sounds like them or is influenced by them, not rhyming the names. Can anyone think of anything?
Edit - I'm sure others have noticed...it seems like the obvious (?) answers to the clues lead us to the real answer...we always have to jump though that flaming hoop to get there.
I just have to guess this, I dont know if anyone has, but I follow this board alot and since day one have had a guess that I believe is very possible. Just created my account and doubt ill post again. Hopefully im right, because if so I will come to Bonnaroo just because of them. Here is my guess. Slightly Stoopid.
Reasons: 1.The obvious one: they have a song on their new album called Tom and Jerry 2.There is no singing in the song = no art 3.Slightly Stoopid acoustically does sound like Simon and Garfunkel. Two guitarist and both sing, their solos are just as beautiful if not more beautiful than Simon and Garfunkels. = sounds like. 4.Two front men, just like Tom and Jerry(Simon and Garfunkel) this could go with the= sounds like as well (a stretch i know) 5. DJJD said the clue was easy, Slightly Stoopid likes to party/tour and puts on an unbelievable show. Sounds easy to me.
And to whoever proves me wrong(which will prob happen lol) congrats ahead of time.
Does anyone have any thoughts on why DJJD ended the hint above with "jean"?
The first Jean thing that I thought of was the chick who used to be in the Grateful Dead...and the Jeff Mattson dude in her band now used to be in a Grateful Dead influenced jam band from New York called the 'Zen Tricksters'...found this mostly because of the 'jean' thing, and then noticed the 'Zen' thing. See that they opened a lot, and the zen dude played guitar with, Dark Star Orchestra.
djjdfarmhound: "tom and jerry- not so merry- think 'sounds like'-- though I need to review thread to make sure there isn't an accidental correct guess jean"
So something just popped into my brain but I dont know where to go from here but... "... dreary" follows the sounds like and not so merry. but I dont know what else.
"You look like you're listening to every note." - Lady to me during LCD's "final" show 2023: Mar 29 - Guster Apr 6 - Postmodern Jukebox Apr 26 - Father John Misty May 14 - Taylor Swift (Philly) May 17 - Robert Plant and Alison Krauss July 12 - moe. July 16 - CAKE (Portland, ME) July 28-30 - Newport Folk (#12!) Dec 8-9 - Goosemas!

Maybe this is a dialect thing, but dreary sounds nothing like merry to me.

I don't think he would be looking for something that sounds alike musically, since that is so subjective. Besides, Paul Simon = Rhymin' Simon and I don't think the sounds-like hint is so random as to NOT have to do with that nickname. I think we're either looking for something to do with the album There Goes Rhymin Simon, the album Live Rhymin, or with the Ryman Auditorium. Sticking with Emmylou till something else having to do with Rhymin or Ryman comes along.
Fillmore, Fillmore, Fillmore . . . what the fx3 smashed in one corner- it points to a help in a different corner
Not sure if these two clues are meant to be taken together, but if they are . . .
Fx3 (by Yamaha) is a type of speaker. When I think of smashing a speaker I think of Pete Townshend. In searching google, I found a picture of Pete smashing a guitar into a speaker at the Fillmore (East) with Roger Daltrey and Keith Moon in the other corner (the guitar being the "pointer") farm4.static.flickr.com/3228/3080713411_d7e2e3f456.jpg?v=0
This could make Daltrey (or Moon) the "help" although I have no idea how that relates to the Tom and Jerry clue

On another tangent, I also found an article reviewing a concert by The Gaslight Anthem at the Fillmore in S.F. on 9/20/09 where guitarist Alex Rosamilia smashed his guitar at the end of their final song - a cover of Tom Petty's American Girl (during which the lead singer also snuck in a chorus of Prince's Little Red Corvette)
Only tie in to "Tom and Jerry" is that on their most acclaimed album "The 59 Sound" there are all kinds of music references including one to Paul Simon's "Diamonds on the soles of her shoes" (on their song "Miles and the Cool")
