okay... so this may be a super stretch, but tom and jerry without art... there would be nothing, right? which would just be a black hole. SUPERMASSIVE black hole... muse maybe? lol.... probably not.
Emoney serves more of a purpose than any of you, especially Nate, whose incessant, garbled ramblings are so mindless and pointless that I get depressed just seeing them.
Modest, Dead, or Danger Mouse seem most likely. Deadmau5 has 8 digits, Modest Mouse has Interstate 8, which is even a fansite for them.
Frankly, I really wish this was a really slick Chemical Brothers reference.
If I had to guess I'd have to say the greatest probability for what we've listed would be Modest Mouse. But I would prefer Deadmau5 or Chemical Brothers.
I apologize, I am terrible at these but read them intently! Tom & Jerry without art (illistration) would just be classical music? Could it be a hint that we may have a full orchestra?

DJ JD said he thought this clue might be the easiest yet. If he came up with a clue that was simultaneously easy for the correct answer AND obviously pointed to a fake answer, I'd be pretty impressed. Not saying that's impossible, just that I think it's quite possible we were on the right track with Paul Simon and just got off a stop too soon. Maybe someone else named Simon, or something else like that.
I do like all the thinking about Tom and Jerry without the art being sound effects, or something like that, but I can't get it to lead anywhere good. NOFX doesn't seem right to me - without the art ALL you'd have is FX...sound effects. Well, that and classical music. And I looked through the wiki page for T&J to see if there was anything of interest and apparently there were a few occasions on which Tom and Jerry spoke - usually Tom. Apparently he said "Don't you believe it!" somewhat often? I don't remember that at all. Don't think it helps with the clue at all though.

I don't think so...I could be wrong but I'd be surprised if that was it. I mean, technically DJ JD isn't allowed to confirm or deny anything. He usually finds ways to let us know how we're going without specifically confirming things, so I don't know why Paul Simon would be any different. And if it somehow was different - if he absolutely was not allowed to give us any indication that Paul Simon was playing - then he wouldn't be giving a clue for him anyway. So unfortunately...I don't think Paul Simon can be the answer.
Good point pepper, but it just fits so perfectly lol.
I know! Haha. That's why I keep wondering if that isn't part of it anyway. Someone else named Paul...or Simon...or, uh, someone else who's really short? (I'm looking at you, Roger Daltrey... ;D)

When people referred to Simon and Garfunkel as Tom and Jerry, were they saying that because they go together or because Tom is taller than Jerry? So that Art would be "tom" and Simon would be Jerry?
I took people calling them Tom and Jerry to be a reference to how close they were...so in that sense Tom (simon) and Jerry (garfunkel)
Thats why I was guessing that "no Art" meant no Jerry (so we get Tom)... sorry if this makes no sense.

When they started out they were billed as Tom and Jerry not Simon and Garfunkel

drbrainfreeze - they actually WERE known as Tom and Jerry before they switched to just using their names. Art was Tom Graph and Paul was Jerry Landis.
ALSO, I just checked wiki and they met in a school play - Alice in Wonderland. Simon was the White Rabbit, Garfunkel was the Cheshire Cat. So with no Art - White Rabbit. Could this be as simple as White Rabbits??
edited because I am useless and I typed it wrong the first time
