Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Also from the new site, tone of Bonnaroo 2009 DVD, (lame quotes and questionable artist selections), and lineup from last year, I kinda get the sense the fest is looking to take a more of a hippster direction, but is trying to not alienate past fans by booking renowned/jam artists in prominent spots - meaning I think Young, Simon, Stevie, and another jam band (DMB, Prince...) will headline and we may even get an annoucement of special guests with one of these artists. But sadly I think the tents will be over run with hippsters who even at this point must be sick of themselves. And if Tom Petty is there I guess that means we get Prince too!
I wouldn't say that Bonnaroo is taking more of a "hipster" direction. I think it's just as easy to say it's taking a "world music" direction or a "country music" direction. The festival seems to be encompassing all kinds of different music instead of just jam bands. They focus on what is a good, live show and not necessarily on genre.
As for the crappy song selection on the DVDs go......they probably want to appeal to the most people and sell the most dvds so they pick most of the bigger names. Some bands may not want to appear on the DVD, some footage might not be that usable...we don't really know why they pick what they do.
But I think it's unfair to say Roo is going in a hipster direction. They definitely have strayed away from booking mostly jam bands.....but they find some of the best acts in rock, pop, country, reggae, world music, R & B, jazz, etc. We've seen the lineup grow more and more diverse with time.

Word on that!
I guess I meant all the good stuff you mentioned above (minus the headliners for possibly the last year ever) are going to fade more into the background, and bands I would rather listen to on my iPod will be more at the fore front.
And I guess the whole appealing to the masses thing is my whole beef, and yeah yeah yeah I can go to some other festival then, but I am from the stupid north of Canada and love doing my annual Tennessee trip, Bonnaroo was always such a nicer topper!
How about if he didn't sing and did Beatles covers.
HOLY nuts. Never seen that before, amazing
Ok so this compared to his boring Conan performance makes me want to see him a lot more. What should I dl that he would likely play if he's on the farm?

I know some hipsters that diss Stevie just because he makes pop music. I bet that's the opinion of a lot of purest hipsters that don't know wtf they're talking about.
Emoney serves more of a purpose than any of you, especially Nate, whose incessant, garbled ramblings are so mindless and pointless that I get depressed just seeing them.

In the hipsters defense, Stevie has made some truly awful pop songs. At least one of them with Sir Paul.
I grew up worshipping Rock and Roll like a religion. I know its shortcomings and strengths but have loved it unconditionally all the same since I was eight-years old. I ran away and joined the circus and honestly, I'm still as obsessed as I was as a boy. I'm not a kid anymore but I still remember how it felt and it doesn't really feel all that different to me now.
Most people think I am insane but there is not one Neil Young album I don't love. In fact Hawks and Doves, Landing on Water, and Greendale are 3 of my favorite of his albums.

As I was buying my MMJ tickets today, I was thinking that maybe the reason they went on sale today was to have their bonnaroo appearance not affect their south eastern tour sales.

Paul Simon could easily play Which on Friday or Saturday afternoon/evening. Willie Nelson had that slot on Friday in '08, David Byrne in '09. Put him up against KOL like Byrne was against Beasties last year. It would be the perfect Bonnaroo conflict.
