As good as Embryonic is... I still think I'd go see Arcade Fire over Flips, just because of the bad taste the Flips show in 07 left in my mouth. Plus, I've never seen Arcade Fire, and they've got a smaller catalogue of music, so obviously there's a better ratio of good/bad songs for them.
I just got to hear TCV once for the first time, and I'm a little disappointed. But I think this is a band I'd have to see live to get into, although that didn't work for a certain band last year at Roo.
Hmm...FWIW, seeming them live twice hasn't done it for me. Sometimes the whole is lesser than the sum.

And it would be one of their first shows back. The new album is supposedly going to be incredible.

Arcade Fire would put on one of the best shows the farm has ever seen. I know I'm a little biased since they are my favorite band but it would be so epic.

Yeah, I think they're gonna have a low priority for me actually, if they make the 2010 roster. It'd probably take some weak competition to get me to spend much time there.
As far as a FLips/Arcade Fire matchup, having seen the Lips for the third time at Voodoo last month, I think this was my favorite of the three. The naked dancer didn't hurt. But, , there'll be no conflict. I'll be there for AF's full set. They're in my top three bands I wanna see ASAP, with Neil Young and Van Morrison.
The Who (Saturday Headliner) U2 (Phish Spot Friday Headliner) Jay Z (Beasties Friday Spot) Furthur (Sunday Headliner) Pavement (David Byrne Spot Friday)
The Roots, Them Crooked Vultures, and Allman Brothers as pre's.
Arcade Fire and SCI latenight Which.
all of a sudden i understand why everyone was crying about the Phish late night last year. if they did Jayz/Pavement > U2 late night i would be pretty annoyed. U2 in the standard 8-11 headline spot would be one thing, but after dark is a whole other story. cant nap then... hopefully would have something even more appealing than what was opposing Phish last year.
i am not sure why i am so against U2 though... does anyone have a recent set list of theirs? i think im more opposed to having to listen to Bono say anything than the music aspect of it.

I know this was brought up somewhere on this board, but I just read that its confirmed the Gorillaz are coming out with a new album. They have done one concert before, and although they prolly won't be one the farm one can dream

This really makes me wonder which Hip Hop Headliner bonnaroo could possibly get now with no Jay-Z. Unless Jay-Z plays late night saturday (Which I Doubt). Outkast or Dr. Dre are my only guesses. An outkast Reunion would be less likely but a one of outkast reunion show would probally be a bigger draw than Jay-Z who is touring everywhere. Outkast @ Bonnaroo = A Better World

After watching the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame special on HBO, not sure if U2 will be playing as they're more of a Saturday night headliner, and before anybody says Glastonbury, remember it's Glastonbury's 40th anniversary and it's considered a far superior festival right now than Bonnaroo.
So, I think Saturday night will be The Who and with no Hova or U2, Friday night will indeed be a surprise. And I don't think Pavement is big enough to go unopposed for Bonnaroo.

The Who and Roger Waters both would suck I think. I want to see the people that actually made the music, not one half of the band that only performs half as good as they used to. I want some interesting relevant headliners and Jay Z was one of a few artists that could fill that imo.
Jay Z doesnt make 100% of his music either. People make his beats and he rhymes over them. Pete Townshend is as important to The Who's music as Jay is to his. Truth.

^I agree Entwistle, and Moon are missed, but the majority of the catalog was written by Roger, and Pete. I heard on this tour they are performing Quadrophenia in it's entirety. I would love to see two full sets then a Quadrophenia Superjam.

Well I guess I was talking more about Roger Waters. I don't see why people go crazy for him, when it seems to me the best song writers ever in Pink Floyd were Syd Barrett, Gilmour, and then Waters. But still with the Who it's just not the same band. The chemistry is not there that gave them legendary status. Their just not the same band that wrote that music the same way that McCartney and Ringo wouldn't be the Beatles. Of course I would go see them if there's nothing else to do to hear songs I love, but it wouldn't be the same. And I wouldn't be excited about the headliners.
Moon and Entwistle are arguably the best rythym section ever, it's impossible to replace but Starkey and Pino Palladino are pretty damn solid replacements. They also more fully realize the keyboard and synth parts than they ever did in the old days.
And Pete is still a flamethrower on guitar.
Prolly be the other way around Quadrophenia<Break>Hits Catalogue
long ago I had a dream where The Who headlined Bonnaroo and played "Pure and Easy" and the whole crowd reverted back to woodstock days
