Thanks for the newbie respect. It's much appreciated. John Mayer is the voice of our generation. He has written songs that are timeless and that SPEAK for people like us. Besides "Your Body is a Wonderland" of course. Keep reading.. I promise it'll get interesting.. "Waiting on the World to Change" is a helpless cry from a liberal who hates where not only politics, but where the world is going. John Mayer was the youngest lyricist ever inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. "Who Says" is an anthem that is not necessary about weed (but sounds REALLY good when you're smoking weed with it on) but about having an out of body experience with yourself and just being free within the confines of your own limits. Back to his not-mainstream stuff.. If John Mayer played Bonnaroo, typically many people would turn their head to it just because of his radio hits. Don't do it. His first album is all basically acoustic stuff written for his female fan base that they STILL hold onto. His second album, Heavier Things, is a great experimental pop-rock album that kind of took a side step from his normal stuff. And Continuum.. well.. it's not just pure blues genius, it's just genius in general.
I love Bonnaroo and John Mayer is my favorite artist of all-time. Seeing John Mayer co-headline would be a dream come true. I know he would showcase himself as a guitarist and people would gain respect for his songwriting abilities.
Note: The guests for his set would be EPIC. He's played with the likes of Eric Clapton, B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Robert Randolph, and other artists that have ALREADY played Bonnaroo.
Seeing Eric Clapton & John Mayer trade guitar licks & solos for "Crossroads"? I would cum. Everywhere.
And to everyone who thinks he wouldn't "headline".. He wouldn't. He would co-headline just because of the fact that he's a "mainstream" artist. But what is funny is that he wouldn't play any of his mainstream songs. He's smarter than that.

Is the new Neil Young CD any good? And in general I need Neil Young recommendation if someone wants to hand them out. I have After The Goldrush, Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere, Freedom, Harvest, S/T, On The Beach, Time Fades Away, Tonight's The Night, Rust Never Sleeps, and Zuma. It's just there's so much and I don't know where to go next.

It's nothing special but not bad either, all about electric cars though, which is kind of ridiculous.
In terms of recommendations, you have every LP I have and more. His discography is immense and really daunting. But my favorite release is actually Live at Massey Hall 1971. Great acoustic official bootleg.

Arc/Weld and Live Rust for live records. Mirror Ball was my introduction to Young and honestly a favorite. Not the best by anymeans, but a personal favorite.
out of the list you posted, Harvest Moon is the last *essential* studio record of his...I'd probably rate it up there with On the Beach and Rust Never Sleeps
If there is a God, he/she/it will not allow John Mayer anywhere within a 10 mile radius of the farm unless he plays with Herbie Hancock again or someone of equal respectability. Saw him in 2007 on the Continuum Tour, $80 tickets and easily the biggest rip off of any show I've ever seen. Quacking awful.

Gotta have Prairie Wind. One of my faves. The Best of CD Decade is really good too.
-When I Hear My Name -Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground -Blue Orchid -Passive Manipulation -Red Rain -Death Letter -My Doorbell -Hotel Yorba -Same Boy You've Always Known -Lovesick -Little Ghost -We're Going to Be Friends -The Hardest Button to Button -Black Math -The Nurse -I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself
Encore: -Ball and Biscuit -Seven Nation Army -Screwdriver
Friday - U2 (due to their Denver show on Saturday) Saturday - Pink Floyd Sunday - My Morning Jacket
Daft Punk is not big enough to headline. RHCP aren't good enough to headline. Stevie Wonder won't headline because Superfly and AC should be worried about the Roo becoming too blasé (with the Boss last year... just silly for anyone in the now).
**Possible switch of Prince or Sir Paul for Pink Floyd... although it doesn't matter, we're all going to show up no matter what.

I was not aware of this. Glad to know I was not in the know this year and enjoyed Springsteen anyway.
stevie wonder can jam better than any other headliner i can think of. his voice is phenomenal, his music is contagious, and the guests would be off the charts.

For the best indication of how John Mayer would play, it would probably be similar to his Rothbury show from 2008 - I think one of the only "similar" festivals he's played since Continuum and out of all the big festivals, Rothbury is probably the closely related to Bonnaroo (at least in terms of crowd and up until 2008).
Anyway, he played the afternoon closing set on Sunday on the 2nd Stage and this was his setlist:
Bigger Than My Body Belief I Don't Trust Myself (With Loving You) My Sweet Lord No Such Thing > Why Georgia Mercy Vultures Slow Dancing in a Burning Room Waiting on the World to Change Crossroads Say Stitched Up Gravity

If anyone doesn't believe Stevie Wonder would blow everyone away, then they're an idiot. I've never seen him but he's in my top artists to go see. No idea why I skipped him when he came to my city a couple years ago....
Everyone would be dancing, singing... Imagine this on the farm:

I love Stevie, and know he would tear the stage down, he is amazing and certainly an artist on my "bucket" list. That being said I imagine he would be in the BB King/Buddy Guy/Al Green/James Brown Living R&B legend spot.

Stevie has way too big of a show / following to take the afternoon slot that those guys had. He also rarely tours, so this is a lot of people's main chance to see him for awhile. When he does play, he plays arenas and large ampitheatres like most headliners do - whereas the above mentioned people stick to auditoriums and halls. Putting him afternoon Which would just possibly be the biggest waste of a spot in the history of Bonnaroo. Not to mention he rarely, if ever, plays festivals...he'd be a HUGE get. There is no possible way Stevie wouldn't headline one of the nights.
