Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I've been screaming for a Daft Punk latenight for years now. I also think a Gorrilaz latenight at roo would be epic. But Daft isn't big enough to headline, nor is KoL, MMJ, or the Flips.
I think as the US festival scene matures there are going to be bigger attempts at differentiating the surviving fests. To many of these dream lists sound like Cochella... and of course Rothburry has exclusivity on the Dead this year.
What a step back from the past two years that would be... Roo keeps getting bigger and bigger I dont know how much bigger they can get then this past year with Phish and Boss (along with the other headliner quality bands that didnt headline).
Ill go for Rage(although would Bonnaroo really want to be one of the last festivals to host them?)->RHCP->The Dead
I hope KoL/MMJ are there aswell to play stages late night.
Also, the door is now open for late nights on the What Stage, or do you think that they will just save that for Phish (and unfortunately Kanye)

I think as the years go by, the lineups will take a turn to looking like Coachella, which is definitely not a bad thing. However they will still keep the roots music which has been a big part of the festival.
I think Daft Punk could headline if they have another big production tour, and they would absolutely destroy Bonnaroo in the best way possible. In fact I can't think of a better headliner for the festival than Daft Punk in terms of crowd pleasing.
There's only a few bands on par in reputation with Pearl Jam/Metallica/Radiohead/Bruce/Phish/Tom Petty etc etc. Bands like the Rolling Stones, U2 and Prince. I would love to see one of them in the saturday headliner slot. U2 especially (and they'll be touring) but having seen them before, I'm not sure they could pull off their wicked stage setups at 'roo.

I have to disagree with you there, when Bonnaroo turns into Coachella I will start going elsewhere. I like it as it is all over the map. Not as a one dimensional Pop/Electronica fest with two token jam or rock bands thrown in and given crappy set times. I am not really worried about it though 'roo has proven for 4 years in a row it throw a better more diverse festie than lollachella.

I was thinking more of their headliners or subheadliners. They seem to take some more chances in bringing in acts like Bjork, Massive Attack, My Bloody Valentine, or Daft Punk (not really a chance you could say.) However the diversity of Bonnaroo can't be beat, which I think will stay. However we could use some more big name EDM acts or a dance tent like the Sahara at Coachella.

I made a list of bands/people that I think could headline that haven't played Bonnaroo yet. It's at about 20-25. Some I would love, some I would not. But I think it could go anywhere.

Well, Coachella has had diverse artist such as Bjork, Massive Attack, My Bloody Valentine, or Daft Punk. But Bonnaroo has also booked Sigur Ros, Toumani Diabate, Radiohead, M.I.A, Israel Vibration.

See I would like to see any of them at Bonnaroo, but none as a headliner. As much as I love all types of music I need my rock, at a festival and as much as Bonnaroo lacks EDM at least it typically gets at least a nod. Whereas at Coachella, you get a legend like Leonard Cohen witha 45 minute set like he is just starting out or something.
I used to be a huge Chilipeppers fan. Then I saw them live. If they play Roo they will not play longer than an hour and a half and they will play almost only new stuff.
I would like to see Galactic headline, they have played every other spot on the roster. I bet they could bring a Sunday night crowd out. I know they are a "lower tier" act but man they bring it to every show they play, and they always bring it doubly hard at Bonnaroo.

I don't think Massive Attack, My Bloody Valentine, Bjork, or Portishead could headline, but they all would make awesome additions to the festival as a late night. Although My Bloody Valentine beautiful sonic wash could knock off some other acts on other stage. However Daft Punk might be big enough, and who knows what kind of visual aspect we'll see from them next.

Also I agree with you about Leonard Cohen, he might be one of the best gets of any festival and he only gets about an hour, the end of which suffers from serious sound bleed issues from Moz and the Coachella Stage. This wouldn't have happened at Bonnaroo.

I would LOVE it if MGMT made it a trifecta by performing at 'Roo again next year. They're big and becoming huge, and I think their show this year proves that they could rock either rock a Friday night 11-2 set or Saturday night 1-4 am slot. They may not have that much music now, but they're working on a new album, and they seem to be learning some covers. I think it would be epic.

I humbly disagree. You can argue that Daft Punk is the biggest electronic act on the planet. They have a live show that no other electronic act can match - their music is universally popular. If you put them on the What stage at 1 AM until 4, they'd destroy it. People would go nuts.

Which is exactly why Daft Punk should go somewhere late night. They would be amazing for a 230-4 set on What as the "special late night." I don't see how Bonnaroo booking Portishead or Bjork as a Friday late night would be a bad thing. Portishead has never played a show in reach of me since I have been a fan, and I think they would be a fantastic get for Bonnaroo. Would people really be disappointed with Bonnaroo if next year they turned in Bjork, Mccartney, and the Dead with LN's given to Portishead and Daft Punk??
Im really hoping for Daft Punk or Portishead late night on the which stage. Those just wouldnt be the same on the What.
As for headliners, we should make a list of bands that haven't played Bonnaroo (or havent played in a while) which would be universally accepted as headliner quality/size, and also mostly realistic.
I'd start off with folks like:
The Dead Dave Matthews Band Red Hot Chili Peppers REM The Rolling Stones U2 Paul McCartney Roger Waters/David Gilmour Radiohead (maybe, although I dont know if they'd come back so soon)
I know someone mentioned Cream. I think that would be viable too.

I would be reexamining my options if that was the case. Especially since that will make it a Coachella clone. Any one of those things would be fine. All of them, and I am going to Rothbury.
Friday night: Rage (What)/Arcade Fire (Which) or Muse (What)/White Stripes (Which) Saturday Night: Radiohead or U2. Sunday Night: Allman Brothers or MMJ. Daft Punk for sure as a late night headliner like Phish this year on Friday night
U2 really needs to stay relevant with the younger crowd and what a better place than Bonnaroo? I'm not a big fan but they are incredible live. If not Radiohead will be four years from their last apperance and a few months off of a new album. They are two bands that are definately big enough to keep attendance up.
I really liked the fact that I could choose heandliners on Friday night this year. I think that they were seeing how this would work in the future. I got to see both performers and I believe having two different genre acts going on the same time is good at spreading the crowd a little. Rage isn't everybodies cup of tea but they really need to make an appearance on the farm. What better band to pair them up with than the Arcade Fire who have been dodging us for a while. Same way with Muse (and their A+ light show) and a stripped down White Stripes.
It's time for MMJ to headline the last night in my opinion. If not then they need another late night to kick everybodies ass (I would not complain). If not them for Sunday then the Allman Brothers are due for another appearance.
Daft Punk just needs to get here ASAP. They would RULE Bonnaroo and I'm sure would be one of the most memorable sets ever as long as they are given a proper slot.
