You guys didn't pick up on the clues?
I thought they were testing the waters a bit this year. Perhaps Superfly asked Phish to cover "Highway to Hell" or another AC/DC track in order to see how the crowd would respond. Perhaps angus will be on the farm next year.
And in the Bonnaroo Beacon on Sunday they made a comment about how not many could rival the boss and his stage show (or something like that)...............except maybe the Rolling Stones.
So I think one of the possible headliners will be AC/DC or The Rolling Stones.
Others I can't really think of. I'd love MMJ but don't know if it will happen next year

Well the headliners/schedule this year didn't allow me anytime for rest so at least if AC/DC is there I will get a good nap in or a good spot for late-night. I did notice the Rolling Stones thing in the newspaper but I thought surely no. That seemed like something out of a corny movie.

I thought the same thing about The Rolling Stones. I could see them headlining Saturday, but I don't think AC/DC should or will headline.

oh yeah.........LED ZEPPELIN
I can't really think of who should headline. Who would be okay, Stones would be fine (for the Classic Rock headliner like Police and Petty). For more current bands I'm not sure who's big enough. I'd love for a White Stripes, The Dead, MMJ headliner set but i'm not the same as everyone else.
Guess 1: Friday: Red Hot Chili Peppers Saturday: Paul McCartney Sunday: Dave Matthews Band Special Late Night: Daft Punk
Guess 2: Friday: Rage Against The Machine Saturday: Stevie Wonder Sunday: Neil Young & Crazy Horse Special Late Night: Jay-Z
We've gotten two 'special late night sets' two years in a row now, with Phish and Kanye.
Eric Clapton through out the possibility of him touring with Jeff Beck, so I could definitely see them holding down the main stage one night. While some people attacked me for it, jam bands have been the only ones to headline two years in a row (Dead, Dave, WSP), so Phish isn't out of the realm of possibility.
Anyway, I see 3-4 of the following: Chili Peppers, Rage, Paul McCartney, Radiohead, DMB, Daft Punk, Jay-Z, Clapton/Beck, Rolling Stones, Roger Waters, Phish, the Dead, Stevie Wonder, Neil Young. MMJ/White Stripes are a possibility.

To be honest I wish they would get rid of the jam headliner and make it classic rock. That way they could have a Neil Young on Sunday, I just think they're really limiting the festival by picking a jam band thats big enough to headline (off the top of my head there is Phish, Widespread, and the Dead.)

I agree. If there is a 'jam band' requirement, Neil Young & DMB kind of meet that criteria so I can see one of them closing the festival out on Sunday.

I don't know if I can guess on exactly who it will be each night, but I think we have good reason to hope for Radiohead:
1.) They have been takin' it easy as far as touring goes lately.
2.) They have been recording a new album, and knowing how they work, we'll be well into 2010 before it's actually released.
3.) The best reason: I would crap my pants and wait in the line for the pit starting Thursday morning if I had to. I was a wee lad of 16 when they played their last Bonnaroo set, and with one 'Roo under my belt, I'm ready to see my favorite band at my favorite festival.
And while we're at it, let's go ahead and add them to the Austin City Limits line-up for 2010 as well.

I know its not really Bonnaroo type music but what about Green Day? They put on a good live show, have the whole liberal persona, and they'll likely be touring next year.
Okay, uh, Maiden? I'm confused. I mean, yeah, they're loud and metal, but they are really, really... not big enough. Not anymore, at least. Same with KoL. The headliners the last three years have been:
Phish Beastie Boys Bruce Springsteen Metallica Pearl Jam Allman Brothers (scheduled) Tool The Police
Those are all legendary acts. Each one. Iron Maiden and MMJ, as good as they are, aren't legendary. Those listed are freakin first ballot hall of fame acts. Maiden is at least close, but MMJ isn't (as much as I love them).

I don't think MMJ are big enough to hold down Friday or Saturday, but I think they could do the Sunday show ok. They've built a pretty decent following at 'Roo.
Maiden, as much as I love them, would probably be better in the slot NIN occupied this year. They'd need the headliner gap to get all their stage show set up on Which anyway.

I really dont see why people at bonnaroo dont want the white stripes to headline the main stage. They have headlined basically every other festival
Bonnaroo is not every other festival. And unless I'm mistaken, they've never headlined Coachella or Lollapalooza, which would probably be the most comparable to Bonnaroo.
5/15 TV on the Radio 5/17/09 Crystal Method 5/27/09 The National 6/9/09 Animal Collective 6/11-6/14/09 Bonnaroo 10/2-10/4/09 Austin City Limits 10/30-11/1/09 Voodoo Fest
Some of you are too liberal with your guesses, while others are too conservative. Some of these acts getting mentioned (Kings of Leon, The Killers, etc) are good, but still nowhere near the same level as bands like Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen, Phish, Metallica, Tom Petty, Radiohead, et cetera. And then there's the people who think that next year we'll be getting The Beatles, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin. Even The White Stripes, who have been my favorite band for the past eight years, are still a bit too small to headline, IMO (though not far off from headliner status).
Obviously it's still way too early to have any rhyme or reason behind my guesses, but I think we may see Daft Punk on Friday, Neil Young on Saturday, and My Morning Jacket > Allman Brothers Band on Sunday.
