My search led me to Books-a-million and I was blown away. They didn't have a ton but they had a really good selection and a bunch of stuff I never would expect. They even had the needle I needed, they also had all kinds of nerdy stuff I don't need but want. I love this place now.
Hastings has great sales and even sells used records online. I got Mac DeMarco - 2, Haim - Days Are Gone and Kendrick Lamar - good kid, m.A.A.d city for less than $50 with shipping.
wanted to share this special day. about four years ago i bought a never played, sealed copy original pressing of Peter Gabriel's first record. I never keep vinyl sealed, that's crazy, but for some reason I couldn't open this and listen to it until I was ready. Guess I was ready today.
A record store, that is open late night, next door to a bunch of restaurants and bars.....well played. Went for dinner and drinks, and ended up coming home with these
What are your favorite online stores for getting Vinyl? I like to visit my local record stores but will also buy online as needed. I've been a big fan of InSound and of course Amazon... Are there any others I should be aware of??
It is limited by the artists they have but FatPossum.com regularly has $10 vinyl LP sales a few times a year.
Third Man Records also has a lot of unique releases and reissues, with a lot of Jack White focus/influence.

Obviously my top choices are Amazon, Discogs or direct from the label/artist.
That being said, I've been really pleased with Sound Stage Direct. They have a really great catalog and sell used stuff too. When I bought Brendan Canning's album from them, they emailed me to let me know there was a slight bend in the packaging and their supplier didn't have any more in mint condition. They offered me a $5 discount or a full refund. I took the discount and I can barely see the bend in the packaging.

Visiting NYC and really want to check out some local record stores. Doing some quick google research I've come up with a couple names. Academy, Other Music and Permanent Records. Any locals have some spots near Midtown I should hit up? Are the ones I mentioned worth checking out? I'd prefer a place that sells used vinyl as well. Thanks in advance! Oh and....HEY Y'ALL!
NY&CH Psychedelic Pill vinyl is on pop market deal for the next 5 hours or so. $50 instead of $80. Been wanting it since it was released, but didn't want to pay $80, so I pulled the trigger.

So pretty much the coolest X-Mas present ever was unintentional. Long story short, when I stopped by my dad's place fer the holidays I mentioned it'd be groovy if he still had my first hard copy of music that I specifically wanted. Turns out he did! George Harrison's single fer "Got My Mind Set On You." I was maybe four at the time and I loved playin' that little vinyl! Bonus my ma allowed me to keep all her old singles too!

I started to catalog my collection on Discogs.com last night. Really interesting going through that and seeing all the versions of different records. Anybody else do this or done this in the past? I'm only up to the D's but will be adding stuff here and there over the next week or two.

Yea, figuring out which pressing of my older stuff I have was difficult. I don't know what year it was pressed or if it's a reissue or not. Some of the items I had would discover a ton of records with the same catalog number thing.
I recently got the Beatles Box Set (not the US one) and even though they're made from the digital recordings, they're pretty great and include all the posters/cutoffs that came with the original album. Definitely great so I don't have to play the original press.
I'll post my collection later, but it includes TLC's single Waterfall, which I found on Tennessee on my way back to NY from Bonnaroo for 75 cents (same place where I got my original Regan/Bush political pins from the 80s.)
