Might be against the rules so mods feel free to delete if you see fit but my Alt J record didn't come with a download code (one of my pet peeves). If someone could Email me the files I would greatly appreciate it. Just pm me for my email
Like for real. People shell out way more money for a vinyl than any other platform. Give them the ease of an audio file so it doesn't have to be a big deal when they listen to that album. It costs literally nothing

I also get annoyed when an album doesn't have a download code. I feel like i'm just whining but it definitely has become my standard (I can buy the vinyl and get the download for my computer/digital collection). I've had a few artists that I've had to deal with no download code.

I feel the same way because I can't listen to vinyl in the car. Ray LaMontagne - Ouroboros was like this and I don't listen to it as much as I would like because I don't have the digital files.

Run a RCA out from the 'line out' port on the back of your receiver - plug it into the 'line in' on your computer. If one only has a headphone jack (like on a laptop), there are cords you can buy that one end is a small headphone end (3.5mm), to a USB end. There are also cords that are USB to RCA.
Audacity is free online. Just find a solid DL source. Easy to use. Numerous file formats available (FLAC, WAV, mp3 and 4, etc). If ripping vinyl, it has a feature to auto-insert song breaks, or you can manually set them. Set your 'stereo' or 'line in' (either speaker-settings or input-settings folder on your comp/OS) in the range of 30% to 60% (input volume of source), and use the sound meter provided in Audacity to do it. Adjust it while playing a record. It's easy. Any higher than that range, and your recording will more than likely be distorted. (NOTE: DON'T USE THE MIC JACK)
I've used it for ages. Works fine, sounds fine. Make sure to compress the file before you have formatted it to the sound format you prefer, but mainly in the case of the larger size formats, like FLAC and WAV. Sometimes I don't. Depends on the quality of the pressing I'm recording.
Last record I had to use it for was The Avalanches - Wildflower. It can be annoying at first to manually set song breaks for albums that the songs are continuous play on vinyl (which was how this specific album was supposed to be), but just hit up Wiki or another source for the song lengths and you should be fine. Audacity also has a solid Wiki help page, better than most.

Thanks for the advice. May try this out at some point.
Hot off the presses! Just shipped to my mailbox, and now awaiting play on my player:
The Tear Garden - The Brown Acid Caveat (on beautiful smokey off-white/marble 180 gram)
Advance reviews from the listening party have been overwhelmingly positive, as have reviews from people who received the and test pressing vinyl earlier this week. Off the Now Playing thread I go, immediately.
"Less Than Zero" OST promo copy (what a strange album... Public Enemy, Slayer, Aerosmith, Poison, among others... I just remember listening to this every now and then when my sister had the tape as a kid) Skinny Puppy - Censor 12" single ("Dogshit"... that feeling when your local record shop finally gets in a used Puppy record ) Depeche Mode - Music For The Masses Pretty Things - Parachute
Just emailed their customer service to ask for an update. I'm pretty patient but I might end up disputing the charge with AMEX.
took them a few days but customer service got back with me just now and offered to ship a replacement or provide a full refund. I asked for the refund. Might not even have been their fault, but they get credit for taking responsibility.

Was your NIN dinged up a but in the outside, too? A lot of people have been complaining. Mine just had a little ding in the lower right corner... the vinyl itself sounds fantastic! I wish record companies would put more emphasis on protecting a new vinyl purchase with good packaging. A lot of people's cover looked bad in several spots.

Mine is a little dinged up on the top right, actually. I agree with most that the price point should at least ensure sturdy packaging, especially with 4 heavy records, not to even mention the lack of inserts or anything of the sort (except for a digital pass and a track sheet). But the record does sound absolutely excellent, and I'm still glad I got it. I've been reading a little bit on echoing the sound where people are trying to bitch to the point of actually getting Tapeworm tracks released. People are pretty pissed.

Working on trying to get all the singles from Dirty Mind through to Lovesexy, plus a few select ones after that (Pink Cashmere, the singles from Diamonds & Pearls, Sexy MF)
Found a nice original US pressing of Al Green's "Let's Stay Together" for $4 while doing some comic hunting in Augusta, today. On top of finding about $270 worth of comics for $35, today was a success I'd say.
